@kinky_mong I think Skyward Sword reviewed better then it was recieved by users because journalists ran through it in a couple of sittings. They didn't suffer the pain caused by the constant messages about the meaningless treasure you picked up for the 50th time. Reply+6
There is no doubt the Wii U has had a slow start but if you are going to compare it to the UK market in 2006 then you should mention that all the main high street retailers here have gone into administration since then. Reply+2
There won't be a Vita version, the reason they are releasing this console port is to make a quick buck and give more people the opportunity to play it. Vita is a failing platform that no one owns. It wouldn't make any money Reply+2
Brilliant news, I thought with so many different characters from big IPs they wouldn't even attempt to release this over here. Hopefully its as fun to play as it looks. Reply+2
Its just making way for Nintendos next attempt to increase the size of the gaming market. I have seen some of Nintendos next titles and you don't want this on display before 11pm:
Donkey Cock Country
Dickmin
Wave Rape
Wii Party
PilotMinge
Wind Wanker
I got this on the Wii U because the way my set up is at home the pad gives me more opportunity to play games then I get with the PC.
At first I was a little disappointed, it looked a lot worse in my mind then AC2 did on my 9800gt, although it was a while since I played that and I think it mostly comes down to the setting. Boston is an extremely boring and grey place compared to the beautiful Italian cities. Who decided this would be a good historical era to set the game?
The load times seemed long to me, I'm not sure how these compare to the other games like this on consoles. I think the first patch did improve performance and after playing it on the pad for a couple of hours I had to look apologetically at my 3DS, its not going to get much use now.
My biggest issue though is that for some reason its very quiet compared to everything else on the WiiU. I have to turn up the TV but its worse on the Pad with headphones at full volume. Hopefully that is something they fix with a patch Reply+5
@null 3DS sales are down in the West because the software line up is not as strong as last years. On the whole its not doing too bad, not anywhere near the DS at its peak but its got off to a better start and it will have sold more then the Gamecube and the original Xbox before the end of the year.
Good start for the Wii U, down a little bit on the numbers sold by the original Wii at launch but it costs a lot more then that did.
The launch has not been as manic as the Wiis, the pad doesn't have the obvious "wow" factor the wii remotes have but I think it actually has more practical uses, Nintendo Land is actually a better party game then Wii Sports and the Miiverse (kid friendly twitter) and TVii stuff could also be a big hit with casual gamers. Marketing has to improve but once people start playing it sales will pick up.
As always with Nintendo the worrying thing for both console and handheld is whether Western third parties will take the risk and make some games for it. Reply+2
Its reasurring when you get a comment pop up after you have died 3 times in the same place from someone else saying "how do you get past this bit?" Reply0
I spent 500 coins in that machine in Nintendo Land so I could take a screenshot of lots of presents flying out of the top.
My next plan is to take screenshots from AC3 of the main character stabbing animals and write little quips like "hello kitty" and "you stupid cow".
I am also looking forward to the new Aliens game just to see peoples drawings of xenomorphs Reply+6
I would completely agree with the Wii U being a social machine but I would say compared to the Wii this is the co-op machine.
The dual screen instead of split screen makes this a natural fit for it but Nintendo have also found neat ways of making you communicate:
Mario chase requires group co-ordination between the pursuers, picking up a fallen friend on Luigis Mansion is straight out of Left 4 Dead, you have to rescue friends from spiders grasps in Zelda, launch them onto the back of a foe in Pikmin and get them to grapple on to your spaceship to escape danger in metroid. Placing blocks at speed in NSMBU is also a real test of co-oridnation between two people.
I thought the best thing about the Wii U would be that I can play console games like on a portable whilst the girlfriend is taking up the TV, I am sure that I will get to do that eventually but right now she won't get off it and thats not a bad thing. Seeing her grapple up the side of Kraid brought a tear to my eye. Reply+5
I think the biggest problem Wii U has right now is that most of the games are ports that cost £10-20 more then the PS3/360 versions on the next shelf. Those should be equally priced imo. Reply+2

Wii U sees healthy US launch, numbers in line with Wii
