@Repsode yes my friend you may. Hell, even Generations wasn't that bad.
It seems like developers either do a triple A blockbuster or a crap game. I'd happily have a game that did less but did it well rather than a game that tries to do everything and does it poorly. I mean the bugs in the game are simply inexcusable. Anyone in the workplace that put out a product they'd spent millions or hundreds of thousands on with such basic bugs would get destroyed in the marketplace. I JUST WANT TO PLAY DECENT GAMES. Reply+4
Was expecting a 5. Shame, why can't they do decent trek games these days? Birth of the federation, elite force, it felt like you couldnt move for good trek games 10 to 15 years ago. Reply+19
Whilst I understand the move it's difficult for it to not look bad, particularly as the Wii u sales have been low.
That said we should still get to see a load of new games, they're just pulling out if the conference speaking part, which has been increasingly turned into a pantomime.
Either way I just want to see a good three horse race and the big n at their A game. Reply+1
The comments about the Wii U are fair. The time to worry is when there are loads of games out for it and it's not selling. Having lost momentum is somehow a lot worse then taking an age to get momentum, which is potentially what's happening to the U. I hope so as I'd like to see a fair 3 horse race. Reply+8
I assume that's director talk for saying they don't think it'll be profitable. A bit short sighted but unfortunately might be true. I hope not. Reply+1
I appreciate I normally defend the big N, however there have been several key titles that have been delayed and instead have had to rely on a couple of grade B first party games, a few oldish ports and one or two good 3rd party titles. It's not really a surprise Nintendo have had to dial back expectations.
The real worry is if after they've come out with the big guns that it still doesn't sell, although we're realistically a year away from telling that. Reply0
His point is fair IMHO. Nintendo made the most money out of the Wii because they did the best with the way the system worked, making the best use of the motion controller. If a 3rd party just does a port to the console I doubt it will do that well and so probably isn't worth it.
For ports 3rd parties really need to think about how they can make playing the Wii U version unique in a non-gimmicky way. A lot of 3rd party games failed to do that with the Wii, a few did and sold nicely but many didn't. Reply-2
I like that statement from Iwata, I think there's a certain amount of reaching the feasible ceiling of noticeable graphical quality. It's certainly a diminishing returns concept and I think we're going to be running out of room for improvement and it'll be increasingly down to artistic skill of the developer.
Eitherway, just want to make sure the Wii U has good games! Reply-1
@Britesparc Agree completely, they're doing it intelligently which is good, Nintendo for the games where they're strongest, MS as a software solution where they're stongest and Sony to help out the Vita proposition. Reply+1
"The fact Microsoft and Sony have both now produced their own dual-screen concepts, Xbox SmartGlass and Vita Cross-Play, only validated Nintendo's decision, Iwata added."
Can see his point but I think it's more like MS and Sony realise that Nintendo for the majority of the time have come out with the big ideas that have become popular, even standard, so instead of wasting time trying to figure out whether or not it's going to be a waste of time MS and Sony have "copied" it, albeit as a cheaper and less intrinsic part of the console in case it fails. Not very imaginative, but can't say I blame them. Reply+11
It's disappointing to see gaming go down the rather predictable violent route. The problem is the more violent it gets the more "violenter" it will get.
In contrast to films or any other media for that matter, gaming does allow the player to play the part of the protagonist and to do so for countless hours. To pretend this has no harmful effect on us or youngsters is simply not true.
Parents are letting their children play unsuitable games, this is a shame, but is a reality and should be addressed. Doing so will increase the credibility of gaming. Reply+1
Stop the press, it's coming with a CPU AND GPU!?!?!? No, frigging way. It's using a what, an... optical drive and can EVEN ACCESS THE INTERNET. HELLO PEOPLE.
Where do I buy one!?!?!!
I'm going to get an early night to try and get over the general terribleness of E3, even Ninty were crap this time around. Reply+3
There was no triple A game from Ninty. The closest things were ME3 and Batman, both of which the gaming population will have forgotten about by the time the console is released.
It's asking for trouble. Hard core types that want to play those games will have already played them. The games won't sell and 3rd parties will point to them as being the reason why they aren't developing big games for the Wii U.
Whereas Watch Dogs, one of the few games everyone is talking about after E3, doesn't appear to be making an appearance, yet seems a perfect fit for the Wii U. Show off the graphical grunt and the purpose of the tablet controller (assuming it turns out to be the game it's looking like).
The biggest games are 'old' games, but then if Ninty aren't showing off a first / second party triple A game for the Wii U, then why should a 3rd party? Reply+1
