Not so impressive if you read this less than glowing take on it.

The TV we have now uses a VA panel. I would not have another one. Viewing angles are unacceptably narrow for a family TV. Probably fine if there's only you watching it I suppose. Reply 0

To avoid confusion - brushed and brushless motors are nothing to do with being gear and/or belt driven.

As far as I'm aware both G289 and T300 are brushless motors but the T300 is belt driven rather than helical gears. T500 used brushed motors.

My experience is that the T300 wheel is much smoother and quieter in operation than the G29 but the 3 pedal set on the T300 is worse than the one on my old G25. Pedals are very light and flimsy feeling on my T300RS. Shifter is very good though although costs extra.

Watched the comparison video in the comment above. Why is there no features on the track surface in Sport. In that video GT6 clearly has a better textured track surface. The Sport track just looks like a flat single colour strip when compared. Reply +4

I doubt people who invest in special fighting game controllers are putting up with a low polling rate. They're probably even more demanding than sim racers. In fact, I'll take a lower polling rate if it means I can save a few hundred quid on a new wheel. Reply +1
  • Dirt Rally could well be Codemasters' first real sim

Played this for a couple of hours last night. No issues at all (other than trying to stay on the road).

Spent a while benchmarking since my graphics card is an old HD7870. At 1920x1080 I got minimum FPS of 61 with everything on Ultra (except shadows which were on high) and 2x AA. Hope that is a useful stick in the sand for someone. Increasing resolution to 2560x1440 dropped minimum FPS to 46.

Good handling, very nice stages, acceptable visuals, Force feedback needs some tweaking, maybe just my settings (G25).

I drove in the windscreen? cam which puts you just behind the windscreen with a view of the wipers and bonnet. I preferred this to the further set back cockpit view.

Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a proper rally successor to the old greats. Looking forward to the updates (one of my favourite things about early access).

Edit: Also meant to add I switched off all HUD elements including corner indicators and just used the navigators voice (which is very good). Really helps with the immersion as you have to concentrate really hard to process his instructions while focusing on your driving as well.

OK, I had money sitting in my Steam Wallet from Christmas so I couldn't resist

I hope all the people who complained about Dirt3's dudebro antics and said they wanted a proper rally game get their cash out and support this 'cos that's the only way it will succeed.

Codies don't let us down, this is my 3rd early access, please don't be my first disappointment.

As a Souls lover I'm not convinced yet. I liked the shield.

Haven't they just made a Devil May Cry game now? I really want to be convinced.

I bought a PS3 just to play Demon Souls, this could make me get a PS4, hopefully my fears are unfounded.

GOTY by a long way. It wasn't perfect but nothing else came close for that sense of achievement and progress. Just finding a shortcut feels like a victory, getting to the next bonfire or finding a blacksmith, each of those small events mean more than completing many games. Reply +13

Just paid Ł25 at Morrisons. They had run out of the 2100 point cards for the deal so just gave me the game on it's own for 25 quid. Bargain. Reply 0

First thing they need t do is fix the PS3 app which was horrible when I tried it. Then improve the Picture and Sound Quality (only 2 channel) of the streamed content. It was variable between films with some being of almost VHS quality. Reply 0

Tower Raiders Gold is the only thing I've stumped up cash for so far. Excellent copy of Defense Grid on the PC.

More round ups like these please I've downloaded three of these to try out. I wish the rating system on the MarketPlace worked better though.

Absolutely no improvement in the AI then. It couldn't even avoid stationary cars stuck in the road. The last red car just drove straight in to them just like it would have in GT3. Reply +2
