@The_shlaaaag_returns How is it self entitled to expect a service with the same name to carry over from one console to another? I don't give a shit what Sony or Microsoft might do, when they announce their service I'll judge it on its own merits. If you seriously think £5.50 for a SNES title is value for gamers you must be a Nintendo shill. Reply+4
@The_shlaaaag_returns What absolute bollocks. If we were buying physical media again you'd have a point, but we are talking about a VIRTUAL console. The clue is in the name. Reply+8
So much negativity towards the new Xbox, it's really quite boring already. If it is always online, as others have said, it kills a very big market for Microsoft.
So it's being marketed as an entertainment hub, a bit like....the PS3.
And can anyone explain how a dashboard advert makes the 360 not a games console anymore? How does it feel different? Are we getting adverts popping up mid game? Are there any features the 360 no longer has that affects how we play online? Or alone?
Back before the launch of the 360, Sony previewed a lot of specs and features that painted the PS3 as a wonder machine, massively outgunning the 360. Eurogamer themselves ran an article saying they didn't think the 360 was proper next gen in the face of such competition.
Maybe I'm just growing out of gaming, I don't get the knee jerk reactions and panicking over rumours. Reply-7
Eurogamer have frequently reviewed IOS games and cited the price tag as a reason to review it kindly. Spartan Ops was free, and also didn't require the player to play every installment of every chapter. You could just watch cutscenes if you wanted.
I found it to be very rewarding as it was great XP, good action and a decent set up for Halo 5. If they released firefight dlc now, I'd buy it. Reply+7
This reminds me of 2005 all over again. Sony unveil a machine (kinda) unveil unbelievably great specs (kinda) and promise it is the future of gaming. Microsoft play their cards close to their chest and end up winning the console war (Wii notwithstanding).
If they have signed an exclusivity deal with EA, I look forward to Respawn and Battlefield ridding us of COD once and for all. Microtransactions will be on both consoles, just like Sony are reportedly charging a premium for PSN next gen. Reply-19
Fucking Crysis 3 advertising is shambolic. First they paint a pussycat doll then give us this advert? Asses. Adapt. Attack. Adapt our asses for anal attack? What?! Reply+3
@DamDai You will be negged to oblivion, but you are entirely correct. As a former hardcore Nintendo fan, you hit the nail on the head. I won't invest in a Nintendo console as the true quality games are too few and far between. I would however welcome said games on another platform. Namely an Xbox. Reply-1
People need to separate legal and moral definitions of wrong. Fox have done nothing illegal to Coulton.
Coulton bought a compulsory mechanical licence from the Harry Fox Agency, which is a very limited licence. In it, you agree to not change the melody or character of the song. He broke this licence by changing both the character and melody of the song.
Fox probably just bought the same compulsory mechanical licence from the same Agency, so Coulton is entitled to nothing, UNLESS he can prove they used his actual recording, which he does hold the rights to.
Coulton violated the licence he used, so he may owe Sir Mix-A-Lot some money. Fox repeating this may also owe Mix-A-Lot some money if they bought the same licence, but Mix-A-Lot would have to sue Coulton before Fox, to prove he was defending his copyright.
Another cool aspect that isn't really obvious from this first trailer is that the Kaiju emerge from the portal every 3 months I think, like clockwork. But the frequency is increasing all of a sudden, and we don't have the resources to keep the mechs running. Each mech is representative of the host nation that funded it. So the Japanese mech looks samurai etc.
From what I remember, the mechs in the trailer are mostly the state of the art ones. The main characters are burnt out pilots so get a legendary but largely obsolete mech. If your partner dies while you're interfaced with one another, you basically experience their death. It's mentally crippling to the surviving pilot.
So overcoming that is a big part of the story.
I'm in no way saying it looks crap by the way. Yes, the Transformers sound doesn't help in the trailer, but it's nothing like Transformers in the movie itself. It's more like Real Steel with 300ft high mechs.
There's some great monsters in it as well, each one is a tribute to another movie monster.
With this and Godzilla in 2014, gonna be a good time for Kaiju fans. Reply0
@IvorB I've read it. it was widely available on the net a few months back. Confirmed as legit. Scenes from the trailer are immediately recognisable from the script. Reply0
@Azhrarn The main characters are a Westerner (American or British, can't remember) and a female Japanese mech pilot. Both have lost their previous pilot partners in mech battles, and they don't speak the same language. A good chunk of the movie is them learning to go without language and read each other without. Just give the fucking film a chance before slagging it off, it's a good script. Oh and the Mountains of Madness movie was canned by the studio as Prometheus ripped it off. He's not going to do it until he can do it right. Reply+6
