  • Raymond: Animus lets Assassin's expand

  • Zamn10210 10/03/2011

RobertFoster GTA doesn't have an overarching story though. Nothing in the GTA stories (excluding cameos) really ties one to another. One link is that the main characters all bad guys trying to be good guys but never quite making it.

Isn't that exactly the point? What would be so bad about AC being like that? I can't stand the animus stuff myself, there's no reason they couldn't have each game as distinct episodes in its templar-assassin war mythology without the framing device. And the 'justifications' of inconsistencies and game conventions only serve to draw attention to them.

  • Zamn10210 03/03/2011

I swear, you'd think some people have been to Activision summer indoctrination camps the way they talk about this stuff.

Some of my favourite particularly daft lines so far in this thread (and plenty others) include:

"piracy is illegal, therefore it is wrong" Come on, it's illegal for women to drive in Saudi Arabia, doesn't make it wrong.

"piracy isn't theft, or a lost sale, but it's still wrong" Why? Because someone said so? If it's not stealing or costing anyone anything that's the big deal?

"piracy isn't theft, but it is stealing" ... right

Good article. Without meaning to sound like an arse, it sounds like your fault rather than the game's. I've been in and out of WoW for years. I play it when it's fun, when I'm not enjoying it, I stop.

I hear so much bloody talk about being addicted to World of Warcraft but most people are well able to drop it and do something else when they feel like it. That said, if you are the sort of person not able to that, then WoW isn't for you. For most people though, no problem.

This article is an analysis piece. If you want a description, go search Eurogamer (or, hell, the internet) for

    "Cataclysm".

If you expect (as apparently a lot of you do) the article to explain the details of the changes to the game in Cataclysm you have very much missed the point. You can collect your dunce cap over there. /point

  • Zamn10210 21/09/2010

I'm not going argue about the score, I don't agree but it's arbitrary and subjective.

I am going to complain about the length of the review though. I've seen reviews twice as long for games half as deep, it's hard to shake the feeling that this review is rushed and half-arsed. Can we have a proper Civ V review please? I don't care if the score changes or not but I want a serious effort at reviewing the game if that's not too much to ask.

I have both consoles but I won't pay for Xbox Live so I'll get the PS3 version if the multiplayer is worth my while and the 360 version for the better graphics if it isn't.

With cross-server battlegrounds in World of Warcraft for a while now and cross-server instances coming in the next patch, WoW is going a long way to breaking down server barriers. Admittedly you are still restricted to your battlegroup (cluster of servers) but it's much more likely that you will happen to share one of the handful of battlegroups with someone than the hundreds of servers. I imagine Blizzard will eventually get rid of battlegroups anyway when it becomes more techincally feasible and affordable for them to do so. Reply +1

  • Zamn10210 02/09/2009

The game plays exactly like Guitar Hero, which means that there's absolutely nothing to complain about. Band Hero won't be plagued with the basic problems that less scrupulous rip-off music games suffer from, like terrible note charts or a stupid interface.

The last time I checked, GH:WT had terrible note charts and a stupid interface.

  • Activision completes GH5 track list

  • Zamn10210 30/07/2009

World Tour had loads of songs I liked when I read the setlist pre-release but then when I actually played the game I realised the setlist was complete shit.

Reason: I've never heard more than about 50% of the songs but on both Rock Bands I was pleasantly surprised by all the new music. On World Tour practically every song that I didn't already like before playing the game made we want to vomit all over my tiny plastic guitar.

So, based on past form I'm not going to buy this even though I see lots of good songs on the list.

  • Editor's blog: EG scoring policy

  • Zamn10210 26/05/2009

6/10 is above average? Yeah right, I've read 6/10 reviews on this site and they were not complimentary. Face it, 5/10 is the not the score you guys are giving out for an average games, I can even remember reading news articles on EG linking to a review labeled a "5/10 roasting". Eurogamer, like every other review site is in denial about its scoring policy, they all say 5/10 or 50% is average, but we all know perfectly well that an average game is going to get 7/10. Reply 0

Sorry, don't believe a word of it, I can only speak for WoW the there is no way a 'majority' of people buying gold. I know dozens of people in-game pretty well and most of them are either dirt-poor or mad money-grinders. I've only met about 3 people ever who I know buy gold.

  • Zamn10210 03/01/2008

Much as I hate to wade in on this way-hotter-than-it-should-be argument, comparing graphics on multiplatforms isn't exactly an ideal way of comparing the consoles. We all know the vast majority of multiplatforms look better on 360. Does that make the PS3 a worse console? No, it means multiplatform games are developed for 360 and ported to PS3 in most cases. A meaningful comparison would take performance on exclusives for both consoles into account. Reply 0
