  • Xbox advert "shocking"

  • Toby 06/06/2002

So the fact that the BBFC ripped over 90 minutes out of a single episode of Urotsukidoji

I remember watching that almost ten years (no idea what episode that was), but ten years is a long time in terms of what is censored and what isn't.

which, for all intents and purposes, is a cartoon,

You can't have it both ways. If you want your obscure Japanese anime to be considered grown-up so you can justify watching it, don't then go on to compare it to a copy of the Beano.

Why do people moan and moan about censorship in this country (UK)? Our censors let through far much more stuff than, say, the US.

With regard to adverts, the simple fact is the general population of this country do not like looking at naked bodies during the day when their kids are watching, especially during an advert for sodding shower gel. These adverts aren't 'censored', they 'just don't have any tits in them', and never did.

If you want a good old wank whilst looking at some nipples, watch tv after 9pm.

  • Toby 03/06/2002

Haven't watched it yet, but could it be worse than Resident Evil?

Second worst film of the year imo. The first would be the The Time Machine (although I am surprised they had the balls to call it that, the only relation to the book is that they both feature time machines).

Oh and before I sign off, if you're going to continue to spout garbage, could you at least proof it before posting as some of your spelling and grammar is appalling for the uber-mensch you think you are.

So funny when people lambast others spelling, but manage to royally fuck their own up whilst doing it. (smiley).

Halo was once planned as an extremely strategic, team-based first person shooter with massive online support - it launched with only botched multiplayer support

Eh? What? Botched multiplayer support? Please explain.

Also, what is this about team-based shooter? Halo was originally going to be an RTS.

  • Xbox gets Serious

  • Toby 23/05/2002

Is everyone forgetting that the first two 'Serious' titles are budget games, and it's possible to complete them in

No idea what happened there. Here we go:

Is everyone forgetting that the first two 'Serious' titles are budget games, and it's possible to complete them in less than 10 hours. Croteam basically admitted than Serious Sam 1 and 2 were parts 1 and 2 of the same game, split in half to make more money.

If the Xbox version has a similar amount of content then it should cost a similar price, but as it is fairly obviously going to have a lot more, a higher price tag is acceptable.

Nah, we will. Seen a couple of really decent GBA homebrew demos in full 3d. Mainly space-combat games, but more impressive than Doom imo. Studios working full-time on 3d games should be able to do some really decent stuff.

The DC modem may not have been blazing fast, but I never experienced anything negative with it when playing PSO and I was connecting to Euro servers from Australia.

Sega never released a version of DreamKey that let you use any ISP (at least, not until the console was buried), and I didn't want to pay 2p a minute for dial-up access. That and the crappy modem :)

What I want to know is will these online versions of offline titles include the offline content? If so, will I get a free/cheap upgrade, or should I sell them on ebay ASAP.

Looking forward to PSO for Xbox. Never bothered with the DC version because of the crappy modem, but should be great on ADSL.

Why don't you good people at EG use alt tags for a lot of your images? They're very important to someone who is visually impaired and useful if images don't load.

Good idea. It would be handy if the format was listed in the article someplace too, I always forget to look at the top-right of the page.

Mod chip is 45 and allows you to play imported games from any region ON any region. So, 180, without import tax and shipping. At least you get past that usual worry of importing, 'what if it goes wrong?', because you'll be invalidating your warranty anyway.

It's still 'cheap' for what it is, even if it's 65 less than it is Japan. Import one and put a mod chip in it if you're that bothered by 65.

He is all CGI. It doesn't look the same as Muppet Yoda.

Personally I don't see the problem. In ESB you know Yoda is being fisted by a puppeteer. In AOTC you know he was animated by a, er, animator. It looks different, but it isn't a problem (to me, at least).

I've downloaded the (quite dodgy) VCD. I've only watched the minute long sample, don't want to spoil it for myself, but it looks pretty good. Much more spartan feel, like the opening scene in Episode 4 with Vader and the Storm Troopers. Some pretty silly dialogue though, "I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe"... right. Reply 0

I actually saw The Siege when I was in the US (Florida, holiday, not New York), and dear god was that a mistake. Someone hit someone! CHEER! Arab guy... must be a terrorist, is a terrorist! BOO! The Arab is dead! CHEER! Etc etc etc.

Other fun film experiences in the US: Telling two women to SHUT UP after 20 minutes of high-pitched chat on a mobile through Blair Witch (me (from a few seats back, anonymously): "SHUT UP", her, to the phone: "someone just told me to 'shut up'", then a few seconds of silence, then with the chat again), and a late-night viewing of Toy Story 2, with two couples having sex in the back row. There were five people in the cinema...

I tell you, there's nothing freakier than walking around central London at 7 o'clock on Sunday morning. It's like being in The Omega Man or something. ;)

When I first went to New York a few years ago I thought I'd do the tourist-y thing and head to Times Square. I get there and it is empty. Absolutely no-one or nothing about. Not one person. It was about 8, 9pm. Bet you five quid you can't guess why...

Best Star Wars game ever: TIE Fighter. Recently dug it out again and fuffed about with Win2k until I got it to work.

Jesus Christ is it harder than I remember.

I've played Rogue Leader for a good few hours round a mate's house (NTSC version). While I was generally unimpressed by the gameplay, everyone else there was lapping it up. So, if you haven't been spoiled by TIE Fighter, you'll probably love it.

watched some Robert-Deniro/Edward-Norton film the otherday when the password they were trying to get was 4 digits long.. erm... you can manually brute force that in about an hour, oh well.. the 'hacker' in they film could not even use a mouse properly, just for geeks like me that ruins the film cos it sorta snaps you out of it and realise its a movie again.

The Score. It also has a barely alive Marlon Brando in it. The password thing was incredibly dumb. Three sets of four digit numbers... right. The hacker/cracker/quake3player sterotype was amusing though.
