The Legend of Zelda 3DS preview: Linked to the past
I really do, or rather, did love Zelda a whole damn lot. But what they've been doing since the Wind Waker is just retarded and really made this franchise lose it's lustre. That's not to say things were bad from the Wind Waker onwards, it's just that it stopped evolving and just rusted into place. Reply +25

But Namco-Bandai is just another one of those Japanese companies that just can't get it right. They're not Square Enix level, but they're still pretty damn bad with localising games to the west and when they do have a potential success on their hands, they completely screw it up. Reply +6

As far as FFXIII goes, it was incredibly important for JRPGs in general. Final Fantasy is for that matter. Those were the games that created the impact in the ocean so the rest of the JRPG makers could ride the waves so to speak. It means that the spotlight just vanished on the genre, so I think it's been destructive on multiple levels. (Think of it Like CoD in a way and how that makes it possible for games like it to get really high sales numbers by riding its tail)
Not to mention that the FFXIII games just buried the entire Final Fantasy name in just one generation. The game itself, sales wise, may not have impacted them point blank but it sure as hell did in the long run. And if FFXIII put it in the casket then FFXIV put the nails in the coffin.
It's just a string of awkward, bad decisions that started with that game and made them end up where they are now. And the saddest part is that it really didn't have to be this way. Reply +2
