It has never run from the beginning of the year.
Almost everything shown will be out and available to purchase within that year.

  • T3TSUO 12/12/2014

    Here's the real question.
If Microsoft and retailers could afford to cut those prices earlier then why didn't they?
If they could afford to do it in Novemeber, can they keep up that price SKU permantly and still turn a profit?
If sales don't normalise for Sony over the next say 3 months, when do they react and can Microsoft combat their reaction?

They've stripped the console bare and threw all manner of freebies at it.
Parents will be happy little Johnny's present is sorted for Christmas.
I'm not sure Little Johnny will be happy un-wrapping his Xbox though after all most of his mates bought Sony over the year.
Sony are in a perfect position now. They can watch the market through xmas and if sales don't "normalise" they can undercut Microsoft.
Besides Microsoft only outsold Sony by 10,000 units. People do know that right?
I'm sure sites like Eurogamer et al are pointing that out.

  • Mass Effect 3 Demos Analysed

  • T3TSUO 17/02/2012

DF trying to dissuade PS3 sales? Everything you read or see on this site illustrates 360 as the primary platform of choice from adverts to boxart. 360 everywhere. They won't review the PS3 version, they should if they are so obviously different and they certainly won't review the PC version which should take precedence in my view.

I remember ME2 Demo on PS3 had awful tearing issues that was fixed upon release as the demo was based on old code as is obviously the case here. Still it's a reason for DF\EG to report on "trash" news.
What is more they comment on this in the final third but every sensationalist journo knows damage has been done, even by the time the headline is read seeds negative views towards PS3 as a buyers choice.
    Truly awful site.

Got a bit fed up with Mass Effect when it dawned on me it's more or less a direct copy of Babylon 5, down to the characters, ships, settings and even the story. There is nothing in Mass Effect I cannot directly relate to B5.

  • T3TSUO 21/10/2011

    Don't talk shit.
Doom 4 is not or will not be postponed or abandoned. There was nothing wrong with Rage. It's my favourite game this year. Enjoying it immensely. So Bethesda just throws development money down the drain do they. Besides id software really doesn't need them.
Rage wasn't Duke Nukem you know?
If you bought it thinking it was open world then maybe you should have read up on the game. Post apocalyptic doesn't automatically qualify it as open world aka Fallout.
If you had graphic problems then hey blame ATI\AMD. They told Carmack that was as good as the drivers get. Through out ATI's history they have been notoriously bad at opengl.Something I bet people who owned one haven't taken into account as fewer opengl games are released these days but they do and are still in development. No doubt Doom 4 will be opengl too.
A patch was released the day after the European launch to fix issues with Nvidia's BETA drivers so high end cards that need to use them can run no issues.
ATI have had to release three drivers in a month to fix issues. If you still have issues then switch to a card that does opengl proper if that desperate to play it.
    Typical sensationalism Euro-gamer headlines.
I've not played a better standard shooter all year.

  • Tech Analysis: Forza Motorsport 4

  • T3TSUO 18/10/2011

It's not about graphics, it's about physics and being an iracing fan I can see GT5 is the clear winner. Forza looks pretty as does GT5 to a degree but it's easy to see GT5 is using up more cycles on a superior car handling and physic model.

*edit* on closer analysis. I have to question why Forza exhibits at total lack of front tyre grip yet under-steers no matter what car is driven? that shouldn't happen and then goes into snap over-steer. The tyres should "unload" GT5 is the only other sim besides iracing to do this.
Forza spent huge portions of the race with 2 tyres on grass at speed with no penalty in grip. That definitely shouldn't happen. Again GT5 gets it right suggesting tyre to road simulation not emulation.

Crysis on console isn't that great. They've used far too much bloom to mask the lack of foliage, and foliage with physical properties mind, grass, trees have been reduced as has the ocean animations and what goes on under it. Wild life has been toned down.
Volumetric clouds are gone. Same for soft shadows. Particles reduced.
Aliens have had a polygon reduction.
It's a good stab but to my eye it's pretty poor. Akin to farcry on xbox1 vs farcry pc.

Main complaints are you need top, top PC hardware for anything approaching playable frame-rates and there are zero graphic options including basics such as v-sync.

You see this is why Richard is classed amongst most as a bit of a poor journalist.
You see what he fails to comprehend is if Bioware has seen fit to change things, be it from the PC or Xbox version then that is their interpretation of "definitive".
If an artist paints a picture, completes it but 6 months later returns to said picture and thinks to change what he or she is not happy with. Once complete said artist would describe the work as "definitive"
Just because it's different to the xbox version does not mean the PS3 is struggling and "compromises" have had to be made.
Comments like those lead to flamebait. Totally unprofessional journolism.

most reliable or complete, as of a text, author, criticism, study, or the like: the definitive biography of Andrew Jackson.
serving to define, fix, or specify definitely: to clarify with a definitive statement.
having its fixed and final form; providing a solution or final answer; satisfying all criteria: the definitive treatment for an infection; a definitive answer to a dilemma.

I played the demo last night and though I have only the PC as a reference, the PS3 looked great. Even better once I dropped film grain.
Wasn't too keen on the stutter in some cut-scenes but I can imagine this could and will be fixed. Nobody knows when this demo was put together before gold master and I'm sure the final could be easily patched knowing Unreal architecture.

Now Richard, if the only way you can get traffic through you're site is to annoy and flamebait the pubic in order to pay the bills I suggest stop and try a bit more thought out concise journalism.
Considering you used to work on a Playstation magazine I do remember some of the bias you had towards that platform.
Enough is enough now. You know what gets peoples backs up in video game circles and it's getting childish.

  • PlayStation 3 Mass Effect 2 release date

  • T3TSUO 10/12/2010

For the last time 360 owners.
Mass Effect 2 is not or was not ever a 360 exclusive. It was available on PC, a perfectly viable gaming platform from launch. Mass Effect 1 wasn't even an exclusive.
Gears of War 2 is an exclusive. Halo 3 is an exclusive.
    Exclusive means

    1. Excluding or tending to exclude: exclusive barriers.
    2. Not allowing something else; incompatible: mutually exclusive conditions.
    3. Not divided or shared with others: exclusive publishing rights.
    4. Not accompanied by others; single or sole: your exclusive function.
    5. Complete; undivided: gained their exclusive attention.
    6. Not including the specified extremes or limits, but only the area between them: 20-25, exclusive; that is, 21, 22, 23 and 24.
    7. Excluding some or most, as from membership or participation: an exclusive club.
    8. Catering to a wealthy clientele; expensive: exclusive shops.
    9. Linguistics Of, relating to, or being a first person plural pronoun that excludes the addressee, such as we in the sentence Chris and I will be in town tomorrow, so we can stop by your office.
    1. A news item initially released to only one publication or broadcaster.
    2. An exclusive right or privilege, as to market a product.

The last comment is apt to my point.
The 360 has actually got very very little in the way of exclusives.

As far as I'm concerned they are both the same. Both drop frames dependant on what is happening.
Been saying it for a while now and people are finally taking note. Unreal Engine needs to go away now. It's just too convenient to grab the engine cheap, slap it on Xbox and do a quick port over to the other systems without regard to the other systems strengths. PS3 and PC and do a damn site better than the Unreal Engine's allow.
What I'm annoyed at is EA swore this MOH title would lead on PS3. I very much doubt it has.
Of course I'm going off a site that just took a look at Force Unleashed 2 and was too lazy to play till the end of the PS3 demo or how else do they explain they missed the missing wet shaders? Poor guy is soaking wet through by the AT-ST portion of the game.

Absolutely wrong again. PC may well sell games on DVD BUT and I say BUT, it's a heavily compressed disc. Most games come on 2 DVD's as standard these days and once installed will amount to well over 10 gig.Does that make sense to you.
You have to use an uncompressed file structure on a 360 DVD and textures take up most of that space.
You think a texture has to pass through ram every time?
Well how do you account Uncharted textures, all streamed and never EVER a loading screen.........ever.
On my PC Aliens v Predator is over 18 gig. What size is the single DVD xbox game then? The PS3 could match the PC version but knoooowww they couldn't be bothered or more likely lacked the talent.

You can learn all about it here
I suggest most do before spouting drivel again.

I have noticed they do choose their face-off's to favour one system over the other. Some games they have to do. Well actually they don't. I still don't see a point in any of these face off's other than to promote one console over another.
We all know when a game is made using the unreal engine it will look and run better on the 360. It's nothing to do with gpu\cpu prowess at all. The real question surely has to be if the unreal engine was made to take advantage of one systems architecture then why not do the same for the PS3. Simple answer is they can't. Why? Because it would have to be severely hampered in order to translate over to the DVD based 360. I'd wager 360 owners would love games made using the Uncharted or God of War engine but it wouldn't look the same. Crushing down a 40 gig game to fit on a single cheap dual layered DVD wouldn't bode well. Heck lok what happened for Final Fantasy.
So what we get is instead of one development team taking advantage of one system and another the other, we get quick and easy ports. Unreal engine is cheap, very easy to program for (you could do it even)
Gamers are losing out here not just PS3 owners. Funny thing is even PC owners are starting to lose out. PC games used to bring the pinnacle of graphical umpf to the table now we just get the Xbox game with forced AA and AF. Heck most of the time it's the said crusty Unreal engine that any PC can handle aplomb.
Fact is Xbox is killing gaming. It's made developers lazy and greedy. And you all thought it was the Wii that was killing gaming.
Great thing is Xbox is a dead duck. They'll try to go download only (what option do they have?) with the next system and it just won't work.
