"As this price cut is not Nintendo instigated either, this just shows it is retailer greed coming down now, shame if they've harmed sales."
@vert1go You do realise that even without the RRP, retailers will still be paying a certain amount for it right? This isn't retailer greed, it's them desperately trying not to lose too much money on the consoles that they already have in stock. Reply+12
Joking aside, if this can help people recover after having a stroke then it's money well spent. Fucking horrible thing to go through, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Reply+13
@melnificent Worth noting that not a single Wii U game shows up in the individual formats top 40 either. It's not like the titles are selling but are hidden amongst the multiplatforms.
The bigger thing to note is that the UK charts track bundled games too... which means that sales of the premium console must be horrible given that Nintendoland doesn't make the top 40 (sub 3k sales). Reply+11
@Kalderyn What exactly is pathetic about it? It's pretty much a perfect use of the tech because the limitations don't really affect it in this instance (you wont need to track individual fingers or have the user make precise motions).
Your Shape works very well on Kinect and I've heard that some of the newer titles like the Nike fitness thing are even better.
So... maybe you should be saying "shitty at anything other than simple dance games and physical fitness titles". Though your point might be somewhat lost then (did you actually have one?). Reply0
Thanks to Chart Track we know that 60% of all the Wii U consoles sold were the premium (30% Zombie U, 10% Basic). We also know that Nintendo Land did about 26k copies (individual and bundled).
With that info at hand we can say that the Wii U sold anywhere up to 43k consoles over the launch weekend. Though obviously it'll be a little less than that as not all of those Nintendo Land copies will have been bundled. Reply+4
Will buy depending on how powerful it ends up being (I need to actually be able to run desktop applications smoothly). Assuming it's powerful enough then one of these for work would be perfect. Reply+2
@DigitalScars When you're living with your parents and not paying for life's essentials (you know, food, a roof over your head, heating, those little things) it seems easy to spend your life doing something you see as fun.
Unfortunately those of us who can't mooch off others find it surprisingly difficult to live on fresh air alone. Beyond that, even if they had the time to spend a couple of hours a day on the project (outside of their normal jobs), just how good do you think it would end up, and how long would it take to complete the game?
Maybe they should live off their trust funds for a while? Or sell off their country houses to pay for development. Reply+7
People with Kinect hatred should really point their schadenfreude at another title. Dance Central is one of the few things worth playing on Kinect and certainly not deserving of poor sales and ridicule.
