    Former GAME employee over a number of years, and everyone has hit the nail on the button. Their business practices are archaic and not fit for purpose, and a lot of the management appears to be skating along waiting for it all to fall apart.

    A shame, because there are some genuinely excellent retail staff amongst their numbers.

    Unless, of course, they default. In which case, yes, Coutts would own the IP, the physical locations, the music (digital and hardcopy), the contracts of those working on the game and any additional finance (incl. insurance) on the game, their accounts and the monies therein, and a bunch of other stuff.

    Where Roberts may have fucked up is if his home/car or any other asset has been put through the company, which he might have done and then paid with his own cash. If he's done that and he defaults? It belongs to Coutts.

    Could be Templar on both sides of the war; remember that Hitler was a Templar gone bad but that meant that both he and the Allies were in league in the AC universe. Nothing to say the same isn't the case here. No point in lambasting the game based on two box art shots which could be subject to change anyway. Reply +4

    What, you're surprised that Microsoft are going after the Wii market with this? Of course they are! By the look of it, you'll be able to do what the Wii does without the need for endless plastic peripherals.

    Natal looks interesting from an interaction point of view, but I seriously doubt that anyone playing 'normal' games will use it in lieu of a pad.

    Playing games is nowhere near as intensive as working (well that's the case for me anyway) and I can easily prop myself up in bed and play games when I'm in no fit condition to be at work. Having a strong cold would be one example. Reply +1

    If there are people daft enough to buy these things; let them! Even if they -do- offer armour and weapons through a micro-transaction store, they will be so pricey that few enough people will buy them to make any difference to your gameplay.

    A shit PvPer in decent store-bought gear is still a shit PvPer.

    I fail to see where this "you'll get no help if you're a newbie" sentiment is coming from. Not only are there people in the NPC corps who've been there for ages and are perfectly willing to lend a hand, new characters are automatically joined with the New Player channel where there are designated volunteers who will answer any questions you may have to the best of their ability.

    Eve Online is not an easy game; that is true. But then that's where part of its appeal lies. Early missions are not always six jumps away as someone stated; in fact I've yet to undertake a level 1 mission that is more than 3 jumps away and most of them are in-system or the next jump over.

    You won't see the handholding you do in WoW, because it's not designed for the lowest common denominator. Instead, it's designed to give you a feeling of achievement the first time you make a load of ISK on the open market, or the first time you jump into a new ship. Frankly, I think most of the detractors are people who just don't want to sit in front of the computer and not be "super awesome" within ten minutes.

    Also, I think Eve Online is the MMO with the most capacity to not become a second job. Yes, if you become embroiled with the nullsec alliance politics then it's likely to eat your time like any other endgame in any other MMO. However, just about everything you can do in Eve is done in real time meaning that when you log out, it continues to run. Want to produce a run of ships to sell on the market? Make sure there's enough materials in your items hangar and then run the factory run and log off and do something else. You don't have to stick around and do pointless things, unlike the endgame in WoW, for example, where a two hour long raid has to be prepared for by some unfortunate souls who have to craft pots, cook buff foods or simply grind cash so that they can buy the afore-mentioned on the market.

    Remember that this is entry level stuff. It's Blizzard trying to get the casual players, who didn't have time or the inclination, to raid in Burning Crusade raiding in Lich King. It started with heroic difficulty five mans and the ten man dungeons in LK. Now, they have the "big boy" raids but on an easier level.

    I would be surprised if Blizz don't ramp the difficulty up a bit for Lich King. They have made such a huge deal out of him all the way through Northrend that I can't see them making it too easy a fight.

    Come on guys, do a bit of research before spouting your mouth off. Codemasters don't develop these games, they merely publish them. I doubt they have much input in their development at all; Lord of the Rings Online is developed by Turbine, of Asheron's Call fame. Funcom are developing Age of Conan. It tells you that much in the article.

    Also, the big problem with MMOs on consoles is the lack of keyboard support. I play World of Warcraft and there is no way that I could have all the commands required for play on the 360 without a keyboard. It just couldn't happen. Not only that, but a keyboard helps a lot in raid organization. On voice comms, you might have several people chattering away at the same time, whereas with a keyboard you can broadcast stuff on a raid channel that everyone can see.
