    I am hoping for a glimpse of Starhawk, the next Team ICO project and hopefully some cool LittleBigPlanet addon. With a new Super Mario Galaxy and Dead Space on the Wii, Left for Dead 2 and Alan Wake on 360 I am good for the next 12 months. Reply 0

    @Smelly

    I never said Wii Music was bad. I think it is kind of neat and I mean that in the kindest possible way. But as you guessed yourself, I am not 6 years old and henceforth my dislike of the direction newfangled gizmos and body recognition software might take me. In ten years time I will probably be up in arms for camera movement as input, but right now no.

    Kids like it, good. Good for them. Nothing against that.

    @Miiiguel

    If you look for those comments you will find them. Chill out, enjoy the conferences and be a gamer. God that sounded corny :)

    @Smelly

    That may be the case for you. Despite how much I might enjoy watching my siblings having fun with Wii Music it bores the hell out of me at the end, not because they enjoy it but because I can see straight through those controls and how simple it is. They might as well be playing Spice Girls on the PS1 (I think it was PS1).

    @gaselite

    I agree, it is nice these things are moving forward. Many of the new functionalities shown I like, but will I use them and will they get in the way? Integration of all things digital into a home console is not black magic it is just something console makers have previously restrained from including into the "core" experience. But most of these additional features still take a while for gamers to truly accept, especially gamers who for example grew up with a Nintendo 64 or PS1.

    Still, a feature is a feature is a feature until it becomes a bullet point to a marketing department. Fortunately natural selection usually takes it course and cuts the bullet points down before they become ingrained into every game we play. Hopefully.

    Or perhaps the "Cool secret" is just a bunch of high quality concept artworks, something they perhaps could not fit in the 360's 150MB limit? Although they are admitedly very cool looking, like nearly all concept art, I will take remote play on the PSP any day of the week. Reply 0

    Anyone seen the G4TV hands on with Little Big Planet?

    http://www.g4tv.com/e32008/videos/27098/Exclusive_Hands_On_LittleBigPlanet.html

    Looks and sounds superb. If you ignore how Alex skips through the level and just imagine 4 mates playing the level from start to finish while trying to get the best time/score, the awesome music (from what I have heard so far), the happy accidents due to the physics and the total mayhem in some parts... well I don't understand how people can not be excited about this. Of course if you only own 1 console I am sure you will find something to justify your dislike ; )

    Local and online multiplayer (mixed multiplayer too). Four people building a level is faster than 1 person doing it and probably its own kind of fun (not sure if multiplayer online level creation is in).

    I am just completely sold on this game.

    EDIT: Stupid HTML. Or I should probably say stupid me.

  • PS3 gets firmware update 2.41

  • MossyMos 08/07/2008

    @Darren. It is a Western Digital 250 gig drive at 5400rpm. Cannot remember the model number or cache size. Knowing my wallet it is probably an 8 meg cache ; ) Going to change it at some time as it likes to do a clicke-de-click sound once in awhile, like my laptop drive, during which it cannot read. Lasts all but 1-1.5 seconds but games that stream from the harddrive freeze during this (only affected Warhawk and Heavenly Sword).

    @Oreillymj. Thanks. Just figured resetting the power would make the PS3 check extra hard : ) Could be the startup time of the harddrive that is at fault but I was also thinking of the Other OS I have installed (in this case Yellow Dog Linux). Who knows. And right now I don't give a damn as it is working.

    The PS3 had me shouting for a moment when it did not boot properly. Just received my 50" screen this morning and the first thing the PS3 does when I connect it to the screen is update to 2.41..... and then not boot. Aaargh!! Three years of saving and researching HDTVs and I am foiled at the last minute (well the first minute of turning on the TV).

    Have to say that these HD TV thingies look absolutely beautiful with a BluRay movie (or HD-DVD if that is what you want ; ) )

    2.40 worked fine for me however updating to 2.41 resulted in a "System cannot start. Incorrect harddrive.", or something to that effect. Switching off, removing and reinserting the power cable solved the problem though. Launch day PS3 with a 250 gigabyte harddrive. Reply 0

    Odin Sphere is beautiful and a very good game too. Get it if you can. If have not heard of it before just buy it as yet another of the PS2's swan songs (that good). If you have a vague idea of what it is then read up on the gameplay so you don't start playing it with wrong expectations. Reply 0
  • Toy Home on PAL PSN

  • MossyMos 21/12/2007

    Don't worry SeesThroughAll, unless I am missing something there is no way to play it on the PSP. Without being able to remap the directional pad to the right thumbstick it is impossible to play properly (right stick scrolls the map). How Popolous got labeled as for PS3 AND PSP I have no idea. Fine on the PS3 but just taking up space on the PSP.

    Wonder if some enterprising soul could create a firmware that allowed you to connect a PS3 controller to the PSP using a mini usb to mini usb cable?

    Very impressed by the PSP internet radio. It just works. Sod the slightly clunky flash based interface, this is brilliant. A nice little Nyko case with speakers and you have all the music you could ever want in the kitchen (if within Wifi range).

    PS3 divx/xvid is nice but I moved on to DVD and BluRay a long time ago.

    Absolutely a lovely little game. Being an old Battlefield whore this sure brings back the memories. If you get hooked by this game I cannot see anyone not spending at least 15-20 hours online. I am sure to go well into the 40 hours over the next couple of months if my battlefield addiction was anything to go by. 20 quid very well spent IMO. And it is slick. I guess a console game affords that luxury of tweaking everything so that it never looses a step in framerate. Very important in a game like this.

  • MossyMos 19/04/2007

    Thanks Arwin, but that is not the case with me. My scores stopped registering. I bought the game almost as soon as it was released. At that time there were a lot of "NQA_********" users on the high score list (Nordic Quality Assurance ?) Perhaps I got removed together with them.

    But the plot thickens. Now I suddenly have the opportunity to buy the game again in the PSN store. I thought items you bought were removed from the store?

    JohnDerby: You should be able to find it by going to the PSN store, pressing the Game tab and selecting Full Games.

    One thing the review got very wrong (IMO of course) is questioning the validity of the Sixaxis controller. It works perfectly fine with loads of control and no lag to speak of. The game is however pushing things a bit with the very narrow range of tilting required, but as long as you keep that in mind you do feel in control.

    So a 7/10 for me although I should knock it down to 4/10 because my high scores will no longer register. I got second place on Tricky - Tub 1 for christ sake, but no MossyMos !! Guess I got banned for being too good ; )
