I played the multi player of colonial marines at the EG expo and was SOLD so much so that i told people how much fun it was [now i feel silly] - it was close to my game of the show as well which was actually Dishonoured [if you're in any way interested]
but i held of on a pre order and waited for reviews and didnt buy it. glad i didnt but i could have happily placed a pre order based on what i had played at the expo. Reply+2
I use shopto for all my gaming purchases; they have never let me down in the past. I have pre-ordered from other sites and often don’t receive items on the release day which is the point of a pre order isn’t it - to avoid the queues and having to go to the brick and mortar stores.
As stated in the quotes they won’t be loosing out financially so why not say no to activision?
There is nothing to stop them listing it on release day or in the future is there? they are just concerned that they will not be able to uphold their promise which is something they pride themselves on. Reply0
the problem with CoD is that to be 'good' you dont need to be THAT skillful or stratigic, i suppose that is mainly the appeal of the game anyone can pick it up and play and have a bit of fun but to play it seriously i doubt its place within a real competative environment. for one the kill streak crap would have to be turned off. been thinking about this game again recenlty thiking how much i enjoyed it - apart from the fabled boss fights especailly that invisible woman one in the water - only managed to do that on hard as she got caught in a wall!
but the game as a whole was brilliant. If you have a Wii U and havent played it i reccomend it for what thats worth. Reply+7
the problem i have with online sales is taking xbox lives 'games on demand' service i can buy a physical copy of most of them games for half the price... how does that work for the consumer, im not that desperate to have the game downloaded that i cant wait for next day delivery and save myself some cash. and my faith in the gaming public is restored, not a single 'big' game in the list by that i mean likes of Fifa, CoD , assassins creed and so on. Bravo my fellow gamers.
also very nice to see a promising NEW IP like Dishonoured which i throghly enjoyed given the top honours. Reply0
My 4 year pld daughter plays various games on my 'droid tab mainly simple match and word games - had a few times where shes clicked the shiny things that pop up but as im sat with her and playing the games with her its never a problem, not sure how far she could get on her own though - im pretty sure i have password protected transations, can you not do that on ipads? Reply+1
@null the problem is that as a 'function' the games will be designed with this in mind thus the 'box of chocolates' analogy the game will be geared to invite you to spend extra cash with these micro transactions of course you could resist and carry on but what if you spend 'just' £5 to advance that bit quicker to the new shiny gun/armour/item
you can spend a few hours gathering resources/xp/coins etc. or just buy them now for a few quid, then a few quid more and so on. Reply+5
Having played the demo section at EG expo last year i felt this is far too scripted for me to find genuinely enjoyable fun perhaps but a missed opportunity, i hope that is just the section i played but doesn’t sound like there are many opportunities for the player to go an explore the game world that has been created rather your put on rails to enjoy the scenery and press buttons as you go. I am tempted to pre order but i want to see more games first, watch dogs looks decent. but i want to see a kind of line up that is something more than this gens games with shiny new wrappers. Reply0
no way would i put a deposit down, but i can see WHY game have done it - so that when they go bust in the summer due to the drought of games they have a tidy profit for selling fresh air - assuming the deposit is non refundable. cynical, me? Reply+1
Played DS1 it was a decent survival horror game, DS2 I skipped as it looked to be a different direction. DS3 i REFUSE to purchase based on these shameful decisions to 'nickle and dime' customers. I fear for the next gen i really do. Reply+3
