@TheTingler I'm generally a big defender of Sonic stuff on here, but I have to disagree and say Sonic Chronicles and Sonic & The Secret Rings were not good games. Reply+2
@Kremlik Fair point about the Master Mode, though I was under the impression that the Collection was only ever released promotionally, that is with games or through the stars catalogue. I must have misremembered that. Reply0
@Kremlik I'm not sure that including versions bundled for free with new games should count though, especially as they were barebones emulations and not enhanced in any way. Reply0
I never had Castle of Illusion, but I did have World of Illusion. Happy memories of playing coop with my sister until that room with all the doors which we could never figure out. Reply+2
Escape may have been naff, but Tales was pretty good, so him slagging that off doesn't inspire the greatest of confidence about the quality of this game. Reply+2
I started to get a bit bored with Revelations, and I haven't found the will to complete AC3. I'm probably not going to buy AC4, at least not until it's cheap, so here's one guy that's grown tired of the series. Reply+1
I don't even remember this game being announced, or any kind of news or preview for it, this review is literally the first I've heard of it. Am I out of the loop or something or has this been kept pretty quiet? Reply+2
I always play as a woman if possible too. Fuck the patriarchy! *burns a flag*
Seriously though, I think it's insecure guys who use games as a fantasy they want to place themselves within that have the strongest objections to being forced to play as a female. Reply+1
@thegofp Exactly, whenever I read a review that claims Sonic hasn't been good in years, I pretty much know the reviewer doesn't know what they're talking about, given how fantastic recent games have been. (With the exception of Sonic 4) Reply-4
@ExplodingClown I've been in these comment sections before, complaining when female characters get victimised or sexualised. I probably posted some messages about the game indrustry's attitude towards women back when the whole "wanting to protect Lara" and implied rape thing blew up a while back, but as it turns out, that was just stupid PR. I've played the game now, and Lara isn't just some girl who needs saving, she gets thrown into the fire, finds the strength to pull herself out of it, then goes back in to rescue her friends. Her gender is incidental. The game is very smartly written, and you should read Rab's piece about it that has been linked by spekkeh. Reply+5
Turns out games with female lead characters DO sell, games industry. I hope the new and improved Lara's success means fewer white guys with shaved heads in the future. Reply+7
