Borderlands 2 reminds me a lot of Fallout 3. I've become addicted to seeing and doing everything I can in the game, not because I like the gameplay or the story, but because of the characters and the atmosphere in the game. The side quests are often where the game shows its true colours and offers the best moments, in the case of Borderlands they'd be Claptrap and Tiny Tina's quests. Reply+1
Good, I always have points left over when I want to buy something, it's such a scam!
Oh, they already sell 400, 800 and 1200 point cards and even sell cards to redeem for certain games? Well who cares, now they'll use cash and I'll never have leftover "money" on my account again. Because they'll definitely let us add whatever amount we want and will stop using unevenly priced cards.
And I bet they won't raise prices to be in line with PSN either. Reply-2
Hopefully the lost sales for their next game will give them the sense to get rid of that god awful engine. Though that'll probably be on the next gen consoles anyway and won't suffer anywhere near as much with the lack of RAM.
New Vegas stung me enough to not buy from them again (I'll borrow Dishonoured), but I still hope for a bug free Fallout or Elder Scrolls game running at 60fps and 1080p in the CryEngine, or whatever they used for Just Cause 2.
I'm a little confused, they say they're trying to make it as authentic as possible but since when have the US army used tomahawks as weapons? Especially ones with "Tier 1 Super Soldiers" written on the side. Reply+1
So how long before we see the head of Konami on Watchdog?
They had a go at Rovio for the free version of Angry Birds using more battery power than the paid version. Imagine how much they'd love this story. Reply+1
I don't see the point in this new Pokédex app. You can't pause your game and open up the app to check something quickly, but you can already use the internet browser on your 3DS to check the same information on Serebii or Bulbapedia without shutting off your game. So you'll be paying £12 for information you can get more conveniently elsewhere for free.
If they were giving this away as a download code with Black and White 2, then it might make sense. Reply0
They've spent so long pissing about, teasing fans and denying it exists that no one gives a shit what anyone who works there says anymore. All of the fans have had enough, but that doesn't mean they don't want the game, they just know it's not worth getting excited over with Mr Yerli and his attitude.
Here's an idea, why don't you just make the game instead of spending years wondering if anyone will buy it? I don't recall anyone asking for Crysis 2 and you still made that. Reply+10
I think it's a safe bet that the God of War collection won't be $30. Still, even as a full price release that would be pretty good value, the previous collections are at least £20 each. Reply+9
An E3 2013 announcement is definitely going to happen. Most of the last big name releases for this gen are scheduled for Q1 next year, just enough time to hype them up and gain a load of sales before E3 comes and the new console is announced.
A quiet release period between E3 and Christmas will get gamers excited enough to not need a long gap between announcement and release to build hype. So a late 2013 release seems a pretty reasonable assumption to make.
I think Sony will wait longer to announce the Orbis (or whatever the hell its codename is) if only to get the Last Of Us and that Team ICO game out this gen. But I'm guessing it'll be unveilled before Durango's release.
Watch Dogs is probably going to be a launch title. Reply+3
@RevanNL Left 4 Dead had survival mode added and Portal 2 had some bonus co-op levels given away free on the Xbox. So Valve have released free DLC.
However, if they add achievements then they have to charge for the DLC. And it counts towards the limited number of free updates that Microsoft allow.
At least that's what I recall reading a while ago. It might just be that Microsoft thought they were offering too much content for the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC to give it away. Reply0
@sfp_noodle Not quite, I was finally going to pick up a PS2 when the price was plummeting, but when I heard the PS3 would have backwards compatibility I figured it'd make more sense to wait, then I could play new games too.
Only I couldn't really afford to do that. In the meantime they removed backwards compatibility and I missed out.
I got a bit distracted from gaming and eventually my attention was caught by the Xbox with the shiny new Bioshock and Gears of War. Once I'd got back to my "backlog" they'd announced HD remakes so I didn't particularly feel like playing the original versions over them. "Why play an inferior version?" I thought.
So I was stuck waiting to afford a PS3 again, I just lost interest after a while and it didn't seem all that worth it. Especially when I already had an Xbox to play on. Stupid I know.
For the record I have played more than Uncharted. The Resistance trilogy, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet, Super Stardust, a few Ratchet and Clanks and Modnation Racers. But Uncharted remains the only Sony series I was really excited about. Well God of War too, but the originals were on my to play list first. Reply+2
You know it's funny, I considered getting a PS3 mostly so I could play PS2 games as I never owned one. But they removed the backwards compatibility and now I've lost all interest even though the games I wanted to play have got the HD makeover treatment.
Being able to play Uncharted on my housemates PS3 probably didn't help them get my business. Reply-3
The patches are ludicrously expensive, presumably to make developers actually fix their games first time round so it's almost understandable. Phil Fish did presumably know this would happen if he had to patch it again.
But Microsoft not catching that glitch with their rigorous certification process and then saying "Tough shit, you'll have to pay us $40,000 to try again" is incredibly shitty behaviour. They should cover the costs themselves for not being able to spot such a massive game breaking glitch. Reply+12
@Phantom_Dynamite DLC is always more expensive on PSN it seems, even compared to the RRP of Microsoft points.
The first time I noticed it was this:
Xbox Fallout DLC = 800 MS points (~£6.80)
PS3 Fallout DLC = £7.99
1200 point items (~£10.20) are around £11.99 on PSN too iirc.
It's a shitty move but no one really takes notice, people will only look at the price for their platform, and now it's just the standard practice on PSN. You can't really blame Capcom for that one. Reply-6
I was just thinking Pullblox was about 20% too expensive. Maybe I'll actually finish Link's Awakening too, first Zelda game I ever played but I just hit a brick wall when I was a kid.
Also, if you're worried about transferring your games to a new console, there's two simple steps:
1) Remove SD card from old/broken 3DS.
2) Insert SD card into new 3DS.
Note - May not work if your 3DS has been stolen. Reply0
@makeamazing "A list of games that have already been released on other platforms"
I count four of those, which by a quick count means theres almost 7 times more new games than old games.
And you have to remember this is games for the launch period, there only ever seems to be one "must have" title for a console launch (Pikmin 3) and a few that look sort of interesting (ZombieU and P-100). This is certainly a lot better than the either the Wii or 3DS launch window line-ups anyway. Reply0
@DAN.E.B It might be able to do that but the frame rate playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations on one screen was so bad it made me feel ill. And that's not even during a fight! Just running in one direction causes the frame rate to plummet every 20 yards you travel.
Sadly a problem with many PS3 multiplatform games. Reply+1
