I don't have the time to really invest in multiplayer but I do like the odd go from time to time. As you can imagine I get pretty hammered when I try this online which is no fun so bots are perfect for me.

"Worth noting you can also play the multplayer modes offline in single player with bots"

    That's good to know thanks.

I think all games with online multi player should provide this option so those who don't like playing online (or don't want to pay for live) can at least get a taste of the multi player. It sometimes feels like I'm paying full price but only getting to enjoy half the game.

This is so much fun to watch! ScrapMetalThief is awesome. If only vizzini was here to tell us about the exotic Cell and how only the exotic Cell allows for certain types of exotic games that couldn't be achieved on other platforms even the more powerful next gen console! Now that would make it the best comments section ever! Reply 0

"Loo, if you like playing n office porn fetish bird with specs who has pistols for high heels while listening to japanese jazz music then cool. I personally prefer blades and spartans in my hack and slash games :)"

So for you its not about the gameplay then?

You'd just rather control a semi naked aggressive male?

I'm not judging you or anything but I do find your reasons for preferring one game over another to be rather enlightening. Are you trying to tell us something without actually saying it?

"You can't argue with sales figures.God of War sold more and so is more popular."

Well for starters I think you're missing the point slightly. Yes God of War has sold more copies in total making it more popular with the wider audience but that does not mean that it is the preferred game for those who have played both.

"Sales figures certainly indicate what the masses, ie "most people" prefer."

Again that's not a definite truth. Out of the x amount of people who bought a GOW game how many never played Bayonetta? They therefore have no reference for which they prefer. Then add in how many did play Bayonetta and prefer it to GOW and your can't argue with sales figures statement starts to lack credibility. But then this all its conjecture because no one has done a survey asking every person who bought GOW which they prefer so we'll never know for sure.

Just for the record I liked them both pretty much equally.

"But Journey, Motorstorm 3D, Modnation racers, LBPs, GoWs, Killzones, Uncharteds, Infamous 2, 3D dot game heroes, Valkyria chronicles and of course MGS4 to name a few play and look significantly better."

Well putting aside the fact that the "play" part is completely subjective (although there's a few games there I love) you're talking utter nonsense!

Don't get me wrong some of the games you mention are stunning looking games but certainly not significantly better than the best on the 360. And really Mod Nation Racers? I know you are a proper loon but that's pushing it even for you!

I hate to burst your bubble but the PS3 was (performance wise) pretty much on a par with the 360 and lacked any real wow factor over and above what we were seeing on the 360!

    @vizzini

No I'm not missing the point at all. You are over complicating something that does not need to be complicated. You want to add nuances to a game mechanic that will only end making it seem random and annoying. There's a reason the developers who's ears you where bending didn't take your ideas on board and its because your ideas are pants!

    @vizzini

"If you don't think the elements I mentioned are an important aspect of field sports(like football and rugby) that separate out the best talent from the rest, then I'd suggest you take a ball out and punt it as high as you can straight up in the air, and try and bring it down on your chest(football) or catch it(rugby). The combination of air pressure/weather make the ball's final trajectory seem quite random, and the unevenness of the grass surface (you aren't looking at) make it a real element of skill to do that seemingly simple task. "

As usual you are trying to over complicate things to make yourself sound smarter than you actually are.

In your example above, the player would make many tiny little adjustments to counter the seemingly random actions of the ball under such conditions. A footballer, for example, when simply kicking a ball will change the angle of their body, how far they turn their hip into the kick, the angle of their foot and adjust how much power the put into the kick. How would you translate all these tiny nuances to a control scheme that is still easy and intuitive to use? You'd be left with what feels like random, inaccurate and glitchy controls and no one wants that now do they?

Sorry but you make no sense at all (but then you never do). How do you feel exploited? Sony made a great console with the PS3 and provided some amazing games. What more could you ask for?

When you bought your PS3 you didn't enter into some form of life time contract with Sony where they were obliged to make everything they ever make ever suit you and you alone. You bought a console that you liked (maybe a little too much in my opinion) and played some great games you enjoyed playing.

Jesus just grow up and get over it!

And just for the record despite not having a new version of the Cell in it (and seriously what is it with you and your odd ball obsession with the bloody thing?) the PS4 is still going to be a great console and it'll still have some amazing games on it! You know, updates and newer versions of all those games you enjoyed playing on the PS3 with better graphics, physics and AI.

You honestly wish you hadn't bought a PS3 just because Sony aren't using the exact hardware you think they should?

So all the enjoyment you got out of all those games means nothing now?

So you've championed Sony, the PS3 and first party games (while calling out DF in face offs at every given opportunity) like a man possessed for last few years just because of the Cell?

    Really?

No one can be that much of a mental surely!

"And then they'll sell those games as 2nd hand the minute the game is "released"
And encourage their customers to buy those second hand games instead of the full priced one - for a 3 quid discount, where they keep all the profit and the developer gets fuck all.
    Like the cunts they are."

I think there's a bit of a hold in your logic with this one!!!!

Surely Game have to pay someone for each copy of the game in the first place.

So in your scenario the developer gets paid, the customer saves 3 quid and Game actually sells it at a 3 quid loss! What's so bad about that?

I really wanted to like the Wii as I've always been a huge Nintendo fan but apart from some mini game stuff like Wii sports and a few others the controls just don't work for me! I just couldn't get on with having to shake the controller when I knew a simple
press of a button would work so much better. Drove me nuts playing Mario Galaxy! I think the reason the WiiU appeals so much is that as the Wii mote isn't standard I should be able to play the Nintendo games I love the way I like to play them. I've never understood why they didn't provide the option to just use the classic controller with certain games!

I'm not sure I'd class my myself as a hardcore gamer as I don't play so much anymore and never play online. I have been playing games since the early 80's and have owned pretty much every major console released in the UK (yep even a Vectrax) so seasoned gamer may suit me better! I have to say the Wii U looks rather appealing to me and I personally felt that the Wii was the most disappointing console I've ever bought (couldn't get on with the waggle). Reply +26
