Aside from subscription and microtransaction based games, there aren't that many developers that keep adding content and features after release. What did people expect? That they would keep adding content each month just to add replay value for free? Reply +5

It's too much WoW, it's not KOTOR 3, it's made by the guys that made Dragon Age 2, it's published by the satanic Riccitello, it's neither Skyrim, nor Dark Souls.
The fact is, it's not too little, nor too late. For me, it came right on time and I'm having the most fun with a game I've had in ages. Reply +15

Star Wars: The Old Republic beta test weekend goes live
- Mechanics and interface are quite similar to WoW.
- Questing is quite different, though. Virtually no backtracking. Voice-acting really helps bringing things to life and actually make you care about the things you do (or don't do). It really feels more like a single player game in a MMO world. The storyline draws you in as well.
- The scale of things is impressive, Coruscant feels huge.
- Performance is good on an iMac 2010 core i3. At 1920x1080 with most stuff maxed out, I get decent framerates. Turning up shadow complexity slows things down quite drastically, though.
So yes, at first it feels like WoW, especially when you start off in the beginner area with a crapload of peers wearing the same jackets and pants, but after an hour or so you start to appreciate the effort Bioware put into making an actually fun MMO. So far, so good. Reply 0

Surely all them Riccitello dollars can buy them the IP. I'd kill for a proper revisit to Faerūn. Reply +1
