Some info pinched from the EDGE mag I bought yesterday...
- The game is set in two timelines, with the bulk of it taking place in the modern day. The world in which it is set, however, retains a gothic aesthetic.
- The environments are seamless. Level Completion has been replaced with a teleport system.
- The player has full camera control.
- Light and Dark magic have been replaced with "The Void" and "Chaos". Void is a sword which regains health. Chaos is claws which increase damage.
- The Focus system is back, though it wasn't revealed what it does.
- The levelling system has changed. "Dracula's Blood" is earned for every kill and unlocks skills. Unlocked skills are enhanced via their use, rather than by spending points.
- Default weapon is the "Blood Whip" which has greater range than the combat cross from the first game, but functions the same way.
- This will be the final game in the LoS story, the developer is promising complete closure to the arc.
They showed some gameplay during the Pre-E3 show thing. Combat, platforming. It looked like a step up over the first game, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED!
It was blown out of proportion. The way EG even links to their own article in this one continues to blow it out of proportion.
It's actually one of the reasons I grow increasingly tired with the news posted on this site. I'll take the reviews. I'll take the features. Those are fine. The news? It does nothing but bait clicks.
It feels completely cynical to me and what makes it worse is that the writers posting this stuff are blatantly aware of what they are doing. Reply+2
It amazes me when people complain about the shift. James Cameron turned his sequel to ALIEN, an outright horror, into an action film.
He turned in one of the greatest sci-fi action films ever made.
I see people complaining about Dead Space 2... A game which was better received critically than the first game and more than doubled the first games sales.
In Dead Space 3 they're going into overdrive to, I assume, finish Isaac's story which, lets be fair, is too large in scope now to resolve by crawling through a derelict spaceship.
Dead Space 3 will feature moments of horror, it'll also feature moments of thrilling action and suspense. Lets complain!
Coop is optional, I just had it confirmed via the twitter feed. They said if you play solo, that's it. You're alone. No NPC to help you. But if you play co-op (drop in/drop out) it will add access to unique areas and puzzles. Reply0

Assassin's Creed leading dev Patrice Désilets returns to Ubisoft
Makes me laugh that EG gets blasted for scoring AC3 well. Loom on metacritic - it holds an 86.
A lot of sites scored it well because... Brace... It's good! Ohhhhh Shiiiiiiit! Reply +1

I love it even more now that the crap journalism has been highlighted and the "report" confirmed as BS.
Seriously. Shit jounalism. Reply +10
Yeah... No.
And the arm of "Visceral" that is closing is the one that worked on the latest Army of Two... And not Dead Space.
This means Dead Space is cancelled... No.

This'll be awesome, of course. It'll get rave reviews (EG included) and it'll sell a boat load.
