  • Microsoft announces EA Access-style Xbox Game Pass subscription

  • Edz72 28/02/2017

Great idea if it gave you access to all games, but for me the reality is if I wanted to play a game i would have brought it near release. I have no interest in play old shit games. My time is worth too much to me.

Much like Netflix which I still pay monthly but the difference being is access to original new content that I can't get anywhere else. Maybe MS should have exclusive games on this like crackdown and sea of theives then it would be far more appealing.

  • Jelly Deals: Nintendo Switch pre-orders back 'in stock' from Nintendo itself

  • Edz72 06/02/2017

Personally I think the switch looks like good value at £280 and although the launch lineup isn't top notch having zelda on day one is something special, but all that aside this is the first console generation where I feel content with what I have (ps4 pro) and see no reason to own a second console. Don't want or need a second online sub and at the moment I can't realistically keep up with all the games I already want this year on the console I already own. Reply +1

  • Edz72 27/01/2017

At this point in time it is looking very much that the Scorpio will end up being a more powerful ps4 pro. If that is the case then that will be extremely disappointing, not that there is anything wrong with the ps4 pro but it means the benefits for 1080p tv owners will be minimal at best outside exclusives which as we know if not ms strength at the moment :-/ Reply -1

@SwissTony1994 Jesus ... You really up Sony's arse aren't you?

So you honestly think that MS have low morals? Lower than Sony's? don't give me that shit.

Oh and where do you work out the Microsoft haven't bought anything positive to the games industry. They are the ones that pushed Sony to be better, and likewise Sony are pushing Microsoft to be better as well ...

So you think Microsoft leaving the market would be the best for the industry do you ... Then your a fucking idiot ...

What the hell are you prattling on about, just because I despise MS and what they done (nothing btw) for gaming does not mean I think Sony are saints...
And yes I would be very happy if they left the gaming industry, more than happy if they were replaced by a company who gave a crap about it's consumers. I don't actually think we could do any worse (with the exception of Apple).

@jabberwoky Still hard to forgive MS for trying to get rid of used games. Still they have had the kicking they deserved and I hope they survive and learn rather than get thrown out of the market.

Personally the sooner MS do get out of the market the better, hopefully replaced by a company that has a lot higher morals. MS have brought absolutely nothing positive to gaming whatsoever, and that is clear to see reading XbDf's posts..

@mega-gazz That is exactly my point. So suddenly they are going to see the big hitters advertised by Sony and think oh that's now the machine to play those games I will grab one of them. This is a complete role reversal from last gen. It will now be interesting if MS can keep the momentum going with exclusives year on year like Sony did with the PS3. Reply +1
  • Edz72 30/07/2015

@mega-gazz Your wrong, Sony has MGS5, Battlefront, COD3 & AC because to the average gamer they will see the adverts promoting those games on the PS4 and won't notice or care that you can get them on another system. The hardcore gamers are the only ones that take notice and they have already made their choice, and if they wanted both they would have bought them last year... Reply +2

@ziggy_played_guitar No the 360 was the Chav console because it was associated primarily shooters, where as the PS3 had a much more broad range of Eastern & Western games. This gen looks no different in fact possibly worse as imo the 360's best and most interesting game Alan Wake has been scraped for a generic looking 3rd person shooter?

  • Edz72 13/04/2015

    @Uncompetative

Not bothered about the lack of drive as I already have a PS3/PS4 for Blu-ray. 1TB is no where near large enough though. Kinect should have stayed imo, it's a better console with it than without. Wouldn't buy one regardless because I don't rate their exclusives and unlike last generation they don't have the better performing multiplatform games which leaves me very little reason to be interested in one regardless of price.

If MS want their console to be market leader then start by making Xbox live free. No point reducing the cost of the box when you only end up spending more to use the thing.

Shame for XB1 owners, but tbh I don't really give a crap about them, just pleased my version will be the better of the two. It's a lot sweeter when you know you've backed the right companies products, the cheaper product and now you find that you also got the better product.

One big difference between both companies. One (Sony) aim to innovate and offer new and potentially exciting features to the console, and the other only gives a shit about their profits.
Both share play and remote play are exciting opportunities and something we have never seen before in the console space where as kinect which should have been no different appears to have ditched in favour of more forza, halo, fable, zzzzz.

@MeBrains You clearly have one not like some posters in this thread.

Yes competition is generally good for the industry but not when it has a negative impact like we are currently having to endure ;-/

Let's just take a look shall we:

    Online fees
    Proprietary peripherals
    DLC
    Micro-transactions
Inflated game prices compared to other platforms (PC)

I'm sure there's more but everything above was implemented last gen and has only got worse this gen :(
Some would argue about game prices but these should have been driven down due to healthy competition but they haven't due to the high licence fees imposed by the manufacturer's.

@Caribou And Edz, fair one, I misread your comment. Not that I agree, Sony may have tried their luck if microsofts e3 reveal hadn't tanked so hard.

Firstly thanks for acknowledging your mistake, and secondly just to make my views crystal clear this has absolutely nothing to do with the console wars or whatever you want to call it, this has everything to do with the manufacturer's earning my respect as a consumer. Sony did this with the PS3 by way of offering online gaming for free, rewarding customers for their loyalty and generally eating humble pie over the PS3's lifetime. MS need to learn this as in my opinion they still haven't, and still have the attitude that gamers should be thankful for their business and what they are paying for. A perfect example is the free games every month, why not offer more than your competition, not less (it just feels like they were forced to do it when they didn't want to).

Now we have all the proprietary crap from both manufacturer's which was born from the 360 (new headset, play and charge kit, licenced steering wheels) Money, money, money :(

I'm sure everything will be just peachy when Sony have a monopoly on console gaming /copious sarcasm

Copious stupidity more like. Not once did I indicate that I wanted Sony to be only console manufacturer, and I have just as much respect for Nintendo as I do for Sony.

Unfortunately this respect does not extend to money grabbing American corporations like MS.

Shame the Xbox One is still selling imo, the sooner MS leave the console scene the better.

Oh well hopefully it will tank next year and we can get some decent competition, run by a company who actually gives a crap about the consumer, not one who wants to bleed gamers dry at every opportunity.

@Suarez07 Strength of the pound has nothing to do with it, it's the same price in the US as it has been from day one. I didn't know about the deal but it appears to be a limited time offer so not really the same. Oh and Americans don't care about Fifa but they could have swapped it out for Madden etc. It just seems that MS are quite happy to ignore their homeland and appease the UK which seems short sighted?

Personally I don't care I think the Xbox brand is garbage.
