    Interesting read. I get your point, however that doesn't take away from the fact that when i play operation metro i am genuinely thinking 'yep, this is pretty sweet.' I don't really care if the map is anti-battlefield - my original point wasn't about how good the map was for a traditional battlefield player.

    You are, of course, entitled to hate that map because of the undoubted restrictions on tactics and ways to play the game. I, however, enjoy the fact that it is infantry only, a bit hectic and non stop.

    Operation Metro is ace. Not because of the points - because of firefights. I am an ex COD player though.

    And maybe i am not 'hardcore' enough, but since the patch was released, i am yet to notice that much of difference. I certainly haven't thought 'this is what the game should have been like when it was released.'

    'Fixed the Rate of Fire when the USAS and MK3A1 are equipped with FRAG rounds.'

  • Douche 19/01/2012

    @viaana

    I would be surprised if the leaked info said - 'it's exactly the same as the previous games!'

    I was quite looking forward to concluding the MW story even if the MW2 story was too over the top. I was hoping lessons would have been learned however the assurances from the developers that they would make the MW3 story a bit more low key turned out to be a load of bollocks. Not for me.

    I hate the sawn off i must say. I can't remember the hiding around corners tatic being so common in the previous games. When someone runs through a hail of Lancer rounds and blasts you into a million bits, it is rather annoying.

    Although i did have a bit of fun when the shotgun was a secondary weapon in MW2, it probably shouldn't be. The pointstreak system sounds like a good idea to.

    I think the game is pretty good value to be honest. 16 maps when the games ships is good, loads of game types and spec ops - can't complain.

    Ha ha nice pic. Couldn't get into Borderlands - only thought it was any good when i played co-op. I found the whole levelling up thing a bit tedious - at times having to shoot a rat thing or a bloke twenty times with a shotgun because i wasn't a cetain level.

    I thought the demo was decent. I wouldn't have gave the demo a 4. The review seems utterly at odds with the earlier hands on preview on this site which was pretty positive from what i remember.

    Of course it depends on who is reviewing the game, but some of the scores Eurogamer have awarded for average games - Borderlands, Just Cause 2 - make me suprised this scored a 4.

    I understand what you are saying, but it must be difficult to have two countries with advanced militarys being involved in a global conflict without including America, China or Russia.

    The game has to be as entertaining as possible - Tense Political Thriller: The Game wouldn't sell as well.

    The MW story is a bit mad though - am i correct in saying the Russians have taken over/ invaded all of Europe and America. That must be one mighty fine and gargantuan army they've got!

    @Irongiant

    I heard the constantly respawning enimies until a certain point is reached style was dropped for MW2 - could be wrong though.

    Has any shooter released recently done anything dramatically new though? As far as i can tell, Battliefield 3 won't be too different from BC2. Apart from jets, a few class changes and better graphics. Will still be awesome though. Looking forward tp both.

    I've definately had a few totally shite games due to a team dominating with a helicpoter or two. The 'guided' rockets are shite to (unless i don't know how it use them). I try and use a turret to take down choppers.

    'Bad Company 2’s maps were weighted away from the vast, open-ended maps of the mainline games and the multi-vehicle combat only played into a fraction of its selection. The narrow, defined paths of Downtown Paris suggest the same could be true here'

    I'm probably in the minority of Battlefield fans, but i hope the maps are similar to Bad Comapny 2's.

    Not sure about the combining of the Medic and Assault classes though.

    I'm in the same boat as you. I was after a decent sci-fi game with a shit hot story. The fact that it wasn't a turn based RPG made me go for it. I didn't mind the RPG elements too much but i think they took away from the experience a bit.

    @darkmorgado

    I don't get how it's dumbed down? That number is bigger than that number so i need to changed armour, gun, ammo is what it boils down to. Hardly rocket science.

    I'm not sure what a self contained story is. I enjoyed the story in the second game.

    @anomagnus

    I won't base my thoughts on the game from this forum - i thought the second games was fucking superb.

    The fact that half my team (including garrras! (lame) and the chick from the second game) died on the final mission was the icing on the cake because i know this didn't happen to everyone and will carry on to the next game. This should happen in more games.

    Or the fact that the Collectors were Protheans! Didn't see that coming either.

    I'm surprised at the amount of people who prefer the first to the second (on the ME comments thread anyway) - the amount of time spent in menus swapping ammo, guns and armour in the first game was nuts. The controls in the second game were a lot tighter as well and the graphics were superb.

    @metalangel

    You need to play the second. It is the same as the first without all the time spent in the menus, better graphics and tighter controls. As mentioned above.

    The mass effect universe, characters and story has always been the best point about the games for me. As long as these elements are kept at the same level as the previous games I’m not too fussed.

    As the previewer mentions, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the third game is the most action orientated considering the point in the story we have reached.

    The biggest disappointment for me is that i won't be playing it till March.
