    @nibblo - I think the problem over here at EG is that DF and EG have always been a bit MS fan boy themselves (particularly Leadbetter). And the whole of the last gen was an anti-Sony hate fest.

    Now that the tables are turned, the PS types over here are seizing their opportunity with gusto…!

    MS fucked up royally. They are addressing their problems, but they have a very long way to go before they win back the love and adoration they enjoyed with the 360.

    I like Phil Spencer - I think he'll be good for the XBox Division. But the console's been made already. What MS need is good exclusives with broad appeal. I think it's fair to say that the PS4 is the choice for multi-plats and casuals are not gonna drop £400+ for a shitty Kinect Sports game.

    So far MS have got Titanfall, Ryse and Forza and these games don't appear to have turned the tide at all and that's with a supply constrained PS4...

    @flanker22 You're joking…? Or are you just comparing 360 to XB1…?

    So, the MS Moneyhat finally ran dry. They literally couldn't get EA to "delay" the TF 360 release any longer.

    It looks as though Bluepoint have done a great job here. There are times when the 360 to XB1 gap is barely there at all. TF will be number 1 next week.

    Anyone who has played Sports Champions Table Tennis on the PS3 knows that motion control not only works but can be a very accurate and satisfying experience. But with the Move Controller, you get feedback and it feels as though you're holding a bat...

    Kinect will always have that feedback "dis-kinect" if you know what I mean.

    Also, Sports Champions is nearly 4 years old now, and the Wii is what 8 years old? It's been done already...

  • Digital Foundry vs. inFamous: Second Son

  • Dave52 28/03/2014

    @donniebox - Ryse is a "fixed camera" brawler that struggles to push 900p. Even DF had to admit that it dropped below 30fps regularly. i:SS is a large, free-roaming sandbox game that stays above 30fps at 1080p.

    Apples and Oranges.

    @stien - Linneman, off the record, had said that KZ:SF was the best looking Launch title on any of the Next Gen consoles. But then, in his DF article he said that Ryse "towered above the rest".

    Essentially, towing the DF party line. Well, it looks like he's continuing to play the Yes man for Leadbetter…

    We read the DF articles for the tech info - not for the gameplay review. i:SS is a great game that looks stunning to boot. Tell it how it is DF… I don't give a shit about Alan Wake. Of course, this game would've been so much better with teh cloud… :rolleyes: Reply +5

  • Dave52 24/03/2014

    @Dantonir - The biggest difference is the fact that the PS3 was powerful, but it was a real bitch to code for. That's why multi-plat parity was (to a large extent) more or less achieved eventually.

    The XB1 on the otherhand just isn't as powerful as the PS4. Any advances in the development tools will be matched, then bettered by Sony.

  • Dave52 22/03/2014

    @sloth09
    MS could bar multi-format games from XBone if the PS4 version runs at a higher resolution or frame rate?
    That would be suicide. As it is, people are tending towards the XB1 for exclusives and the PS4 for multi-plats (and exclusives obviously).

  • Dave52 22/03/2014

    @sanctusmortis Most game types could utilise VR in some way. The games industry is always looking to move forward and VR is the current "hot" idea (albeit a reboot from when I was a kid).

    If Sony can bring Project Morpheus in at around £300 and there are enough innovative games to support it - people will buy it. Not millions of people, but enough to make it worth Sony's while.

    I'm interested, but then I also embraced 3D - something that I think people like to hate on for no reason. I like it.

    @Guy.J. Indeed. If DX12 was a big deal for the XB1, we'd have seen the new improved Forza running on an XB1. The fact they showed us how great it now looks on a PC spoke volumes...

    There is no secret sauce. Unless they release an XB1.5 - which would be suicide.

    @jimmyhill11 - EA also assumed that the XB1 would be a DRM Cash Cow which is why they cancelled their online pass program. They didn't expect the fan backlash. EA Have been burnt nearly as much as MS this gen. Reply +14

    @jonvital - Please re-read my comments. I don't have a problem with the game. I have a problem with the MS PR machine and the complicit gaming media for trying to convince us that this game is ground breaking.

    Ohh… the cloud handles the AI. But the AI is dumb as fuck.

    Ohh… the cloud frees up the processing power so the game is amazing. But the game has shit textures, big frame-rate drops and the most obscure (and low) res.

    Ohh… the cloud handles all the match making and lobby processing. But the game takes an age to load between matches and can only handle 6 on 6 games.

    Really, TF does nothing new with regards to the actual mechanics of an on-line shooter and, on top of that - it doesn't quite do it as well as other games...

    @ahrmon - Just to be clear - I know from people's reactions that Titanfall is a fun game to play.

    This is not my "beef"… I do however, have a problem with all of these puff pieces banging on about the ground breaking work that Respawn has done with "the cloud", when clearly Titanfall isn't doing anything that BF, COD and KZ hasn't done before.

    Just watched some of The Sixth Axis twitch feed where they're playing Titanfall. Two things - it takes an absolute age between matches, and it just looks like a COD clone with rocket jumping.
