I've been "umming" and "aahing" for some time over this. I am a sucker for anything Zelda - just bought 4 classics (Awakening, Ages, Seasons and the past) from the eShop due to the current Zelda Weeks sales...

After reading this review I'm back in the very interested camp, but with Smash Bros and Theatre Rythem (3ds) and Bayonetta 2 all out in the next 6 weeks I'm not sure I can justify buying it yet - especially as I'm strongly condsidering getting a ps4 with Shadow of Mordor when a tasty xmas deal pops up.

Perhaps I should wait for it to be cheap - that or a special birthday treat for my self (I'm 30 next month)!

Edit: also totally blanked the fact I want the PS4 for Alien Isolation as well!

@Carroceiro Oh, didn't realise that! I only played my mates copy for a few hours to complete the story and get a fair feel for the new game - I refused to pay for GZ until it's cheap and MGS V is about to come out..

Well cool, I might just do that with MGS V then!

@SarcasticJoe I have noproblems with Keifer Sutherland as an actor. It did bug me playing GZ and it not being Hayter's voice though.

In my opinion English voice acting makes for a generally poorer experience compared with Japanese voice acting. As I don't speak Japanese I can identify the spoken tone by reading the text, but don't know if it sounds poor to someone who speaks Japanese. Where as in English, I detect the bad delivery of line very easily.

This, together with a loss in translation and a change in original script due to the desire to keep the spoken words in sync with character animation are the reason why all my Asian films (and games where possible) are watched with the native audio and English subtitles.

@Pwnsweet Shame games don't let you listen to the original Japanese with English subtitles ala Blu-rays!

Having said that Xenoblade Chronicles allowed just that! Maybe this game will and you won't have to listen to KS's voice!

Definitely not one for a steam sale in a few years time. Story is awful and it hasn't been reviewed because of how bad it'll come across on empty servers, so in a few years time servers will be nowhere the current levels.

  • Sunset Overdrive Season Pass detailed and priced

  • DakeyrasUK 10/09/2014

I just find this season pass stuff depressing. I don't remember it existing 4 or so years ago before COD sold 4 maps for a tenner (or something like that) and the COD-ites lapping it up. Note: I confess to buying one pack for the COD Black Ops, was very unimpressed with the value so never bought one again (or another COD). That said, my friends I played Black Ops with still buy COD and all the packs - some of them now get the season passes to "save" a little bit of money.

Anyway, getting to my point, they caught on massively for COD so they are now for being pushed on to all/most AAA games as well as some smaller budget games. People may prefer the convenience of the digital download days, but I damn miss buying completely working games, with FREE unlockables of extra costumes/player skins/weapons/cheats etc. One of my proudest gaming moments growing up was unlocking the no radar cheat for Goldeneye on the N64. Instead of this sort of stuff being in games we have micro-transactions to access all the game or macro transactions (DLC) for bigger chunks of the full game.

    Oh well...

    @GRASSYKNOLL

Well, there seems to be a lot of people posting that the customer services are confirming the only edition Amazon are stocking is the special edition with both copies!!!

So for 31.85, you can't go wrong!

    Amazon Product Questions

EDIT: Well, I just received an email from Amazon saying they have a revised delivery date for my pre-order. I check the website and all mention of Bayonetta has been removed from the product description. Also more answers have been given to above product question that confirm that Bayonetta isn't included despite being told the exact opposite yesterday...

If preordered, then surely they are obliged to give whatever cheapest copy contains both for that price?

  • Mario Kart 8 getting Zelda and Animal Crossing DLC

  • DakeyrasUK 27/08/2014

Not a fan of DLC in general, however I did get a completely free game with Mariokart 8 (which I'm guessing most people did), so to spend a further 11 on an extra 50% of tracks is by no means a rip off.

In short 51 for 48 tracks of MK8 and Zelda WW = me one happy customer!

  • DakeyrasUK 20/08/2014

    @OnlyJoeKing

No I haven't played any of the other Souls games. I'm sure there is more to the combat than meets the untrained eye. I just want them to demostrate as such to sell me what looks like a visually stunning game.

I guess my lack of interest is born from the trailer not being geared to fostering new players and more being fan service to those who know the games and want to see a glimpse of the new game at an early stage.

Also, it is unfortunate to release this teaser the same day as CD PR release one of the most comprehensive gameplay trailers that i have seen!

Looks incredibly well animated. But, allow me my opinion, I was quite bored with the gameplay...

Could be because I just watched the 35 minute Witcher 3 gameplay vid, which had music and story as well to help sell the experience. I just found this void of any soul other than being great graphics.

  • Watch Dogs is Ubisoft's last mature game for Wii U

  • DakeyrasUK 19/08/2014

At the moment I only have a WiiU, will most likely buy a ps4 during the xmas deal season. I've had the WiiU since launch and bought ZombiU and AC3. I still have my 360 (on which I played every other AC game) so could have bought it on that system, unfortunately AC3 has killed the franchise for me.

I was very excited about getting watchdogs on wiiU, but then AC3 and 4 were both poorly ported on to wiiU. So why would anyone expect different from Watchdogs?

In short, of course the "mature" games have sold poorly, you have made them inferior and/or delayed to the system.

I have played some watchdogs on my friends XB1 (spidertank was great fun), however all interest in the game has waned since it was released.

  • DakeyrasUK 12/08/2014

Though I agree that this detracts from the realism of the game world, I don't agree with that being bad thing.

Metal Gear Solid games have always had a self deprecating/jokey side to remind us all not to take it too seriously despite the adult themes of the plot.

As for being degrading to women, I agree that some will find it (justifiably) offensive, I prefer to look at it as a cartoon mocking men lust and desires.

To be honest, this represents good value for money for those that like EA games and parents who can't afford the latest games for their children.

Just watched the 3GB video on my laptop connected to my hd tv. It looks great, no denying that and at 60fps it is very smooth.

It makes me wish that all next gen games were 1080p and 60 fps, and to achieve this developers would scale back the "next gen" graphical processes that are seemingly the reason for games not being able to have 1080p 60 fps.

I appreciate the precision involved in getting to the end game of Ocarina of time so quickly, but I'm a purest and to me he has cheated his way to completing the game in 18:10. I get that the argument is that if it was in the game on release blah blah blah, but ask the developers if they would rather those bugs never existed...

If he found all these bugs himself I guess he deserves credit, but let's not get carried away, he pushed a few buttons in a correct sequence for no more than a few minutes at a time - something he has probably spent many hours to achieve.

I'm more impressed by people getting 100% on Guitar Hero...

  • Sony: PS4 targeting Wii owners who skipped PS3 and Xbox 360

  • DakeyrasUK 15/07/2014

Another thing that irks me about this article is the idea of needing remasters of ps3 games. As has been mentioned ps now should be all that is needed. Or, how about releasing a console that is backwards compatible? Nintendo seem to manage it just fine.

Missed the Wii as well as the 360 and ps3? Well which console plays the most games? That's right the WiiU with its entire Wii catalogue.

I'd much rather developers were spending their time on new games than rather than games of 5 years ago, let alone last year! I'm sure more people who missed the ps3 would buy a ps4 if it played ps3 games. I know it would be the difference between me getting one and my current plan of saving 700 to get a new gaming pc!

  • DakeyrasUK 17/05/2014

@chucklepie That make sense and is what I expect to happen (though not at first), but then that isn't really an advantage for Microsoft.

When shops are selling you product well below RRP you have a problem, just ask Nintendo. I love the WiiU, not because it is particularly great, but because it has unique exclusives. Microsoft needs this if it is to prove to compete with Sony.

It's a shame, seems to me SOny are going to be the run away winners this gen, not that I have an issue with Sony - I just don't want any run away winners (stifles innovation).

I don't know why anyone would buy XB1 without kinect at the moment, go to Amazon and XB1 (without kinect) is 349 and with Titanfall and Kinect it is 389. 40 for Titanfall and Kinect.

If you aren't interested in Titanfall, then sell it for 35 on ebay, you now have bought the 349 console and spent an extra 5 on Kinect.

Don't think Kinect is worth 5? Then sell it on ebay for 35, you now have bought an XB1 for 315.

In short, I don't see how Microsoft's Kinectless XB1 will drive sales up. To me it advertises a lack of vision to the consumer who are already fairly unimpressed.

Superb article, explains exactly how I feel!

Nothing has ever beaten playing 4 player split screen Goldeneye, with the no radar cheat enabled and sitting around the tv with a dividing screen down the middle, playing 2 v 2!

Since then, N+ on the 360 has had some great local multiplayer times, but that is about it on non nintendo consoles for me. Mario kart is of course always there (I cannot wait for MK8 after reading this now), Monkey ball, Smash Bros and Boomblox are some of the greats Nintendo has given us on their consoles.

Just a shame my closest real life friends are much more into spending their gaming time playing Titanfall, BF4 and COD online together....

  • Watch us complete Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes in just 10 minutes

  • DakeyrasUK 18/03/2014

To me it is systematic of the down grading of value of games these days. Many years ago when you bought a game it contained everything and (usually) it worked. Demo's came with magazines for free, extra clothes/outfits/characters could be unlocked through cheats or achievements.

Then games started to release DLC content quite a while after release, this prompted DLC to become released sooner (i.e. what should have been in the full game but to meet deadlines or bring forward release dates was left out). Extra outfits then became DLC, some free some at a premium...

Then, the studios and publishers really started to take the piss, releasing games unfinished, but sold as complete. Through, updates of the subsequent weeks and months they finished the game.

Now, it appears a transition to buying part games is occurring, Ground Zeroes is exactly like the Tanker on MGS2, with filler missions in the same sandbox bolted on completion.

At least with Steam early access, you buy the full game and it is released later for no extra charge.

I wouldn't mind paying 50 for this if it also included a voucher to pick up phantom pain for a fiver...

In the end I will thoroughly enjoy this in around 11 months time when I buy it second hand shortly before The Phantom Pain is released!
