Felt like I'd found an absolute gem when playing this at EGX in the Leftfield area.

Very much looking forward to playing the finished product.

    So much yes.

Persona 4 Golden introduced me to the Persona series and it quickly shot into the elite of my 'all-time favourite' games. Really fit the vita but looking forward to seeing next-gen JRPG visuals.

  • Lucasfilm decrees the Star Wars expanded universe as non-canon

  • Capa26 26/04/2014

So the most nuanced and interesting chapter of the Star Wars universe in gaming terms (KOTOR) is non canon? Even though its lore in the past has literally zero impact on the upcoming JJ 'I'm-just-like-Spielberg' Abrams sequels? Do non story games like Pod Racer still count!?

Never liked it that much but this essentially makes The Force Unleashed utterly redundant as it was marketed pretty heavily as being the link between eps 3 and 4... well done LucasArts, not satisfied by nuking one fridge.. had to nuke a whole bunch.

  • The next Ace Attorney game will be set over 100 years ago

  • Capa26 22/04/2014

    Sounds fresh and exciting.

Calling it now, at some point in the game (probably the final case) it will jump forward in time to Phoenix trying to solve a totally random mystery that somehow relates to his ancestor with the gameplay flip-flopping between the two.

    ...which would be great.

  • Capa26 02/04/2014

Great value with the Virgin Media discounts. Booked for Thursday and Friday.

Really hoping the queues can be tamed this year as the last event suffered from some really awful time management from a lot of the major booths. Also hope the indies get some more floor space this time around.

Have really enjoyed reading these articles, even though personally I wouldn't have had this or Fallout 3 anywhere near my ten.

If anything these articles have made me consider how solid and varied this generation has been. If I had to fill the final two it would be out of:

Dark Souls, Uncharted 2, Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, Super Mario Galaxy, Grand Theft Auto V, Mass Effect 2, Skyrim, The Walking Dead Season 1 and/or Hotline Miami.

  • EGX 2013: Game of the Show

  • Capa26 07/10/2013

Glad to hear Arkham Origins played well. Didn't get round to playing it due to it being one of the many games with obscene queue lengths. I did, however, play Blackgate on the Vita and wow was that terrible. The Arkham gameplay does not translate to a 2.5D design at all.

Dark Souls II was my highlight of the show. Felt fresh and familiar in the best way possible.

On the queuing: okay, at an exhibition with both of the next-gen consoles at a sold out Earls Court I understand that you have to expect queuing. But, man alive.

I went to EGX for the first time last year and it was brilliant. The few games that had long queues still didn't have the obscene waiting times of this year's event and I managed to play a much greater number of games. Black Ops 2 last year had the largest queue by a long stretch, this year all of the major games were like that.

With so many people already in line for the XBOne and PS4 it can't be blamed on their presence entirely. When you're queuing for half an hour in the retro and Rezzed sections (which on a side note... the Rezzed section was depressingly small, give the indies some room) you know something is very wrong.

I understand you want to sell as many tickets as possible, but I think there were just too many people this year for the quantity of screens available and the poor time management at some of the stalls. Dark Souls II and the entirety of the Nintendo stand were on perfect rotation systems, other games like Hotline Miami 2 had a case of 'play until you finish' and after watching someone die continuously on the first stage of Hotline Miami 2 I can safely say that was a stupid idea.

I was at the event for two days and only managed to play four of the above games on that list and that wasn't out of choice.

  • Capa26 03/10/2013

@7M7 Whenever anyone mentions the prospect of voice acting in Zelda the Metroid Other M argument is always trotted out.

I'll say on this what I've always said... Samus talking wasn't the problem, it was that Team Ninja was responsible for her dialogue.

  • Capa26 11/09/2013

Getting a tad tired of Kickstarter games that can be summarised as 'Game A' meets 'Game B' meets 'Game C'.

I know it's a criticism equally valid of a lot of AAA IPs, but the sheer volume of Kickstarter projects defined solely by their influences indicates that the promise of crowdfunding as a means to push forward new concepts and bold visions just isn't really happening.

@Der_tolle_Emil True, but considering Phantom Hourglass was developed by Nintendo you'd have thought they would've remembered that they've use this a gameplay mechanism.

Funnily enough I picked up a 3DS for my missus from eBay yesterday due to the imminent arrival of Pokemon... just under £90 second hand, but mint condition. • In Theory: Where Next For iPhone?

  • Capa26 19/08/2012

Completely OT, but I wish for once I could browse the comments section of an article on EG without seeing Supermeatboy3D spouting irritating bollocks in the first two or three posts.

Might have to try that ignore option I've heard about but never resorted to before.

OT: As someone who works in a phone store I can honestly say that the iPhone 5 will have to be something special to impress me and my customers.

A lot of people come in looking for the iPhone and I'm happy to sell it to them, but anyone who does so and at some point tentatively asks "err... is there anything else I should consider" nine times out of ten walks out with an SIII and occasionally a One X.

It usually goes like this: "So you mean I could buy a phone with additional storage options, the option to replace an ailing battery, a 24 month guarantee (as opposed to Apple's 12), a sharper, more flexible OS, some extra fun hardware features, still find all of the same apps and pay less?... okay."

And I say this as an iPhone 4S and MacBook Pro owner feels no malice towards either. In fact I adore my MacBook.

Well, with that sufficiently spoiled by the sub-header...

I like how the reapers have gone from this:

"We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything... We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it." - Sovereign

    To this:

"Yeah I'll join you Mr. Shepard, we were only created by a glowing blue kid with retarded logic anyway and I fancy a change..." - Leviathan

And just on the point of Leviathan being a possible EMS addition... why? Especially if you have a full EMS count already.. what is the point in having more points that do absolutely nothing except reveal the dumbest ending available? Do you get an even dumber ending?

If you own a Wii, or indeed a GameCube, The Twin Snakes is well worth hunting down as a complementary purchase to the HD Collection. If you're set up with a component cable, you should also be able to run the game in 480p, too
To my knowledge this is completely incorrect.

PAL Gamecube games only support 576i and 480i so even if you had a Wii/Gamecube with the correct cables this is impossible. NTSC GC games support 480p no problem and if you can get by region locking with mods or freeloaders then yeah you could technically play cube games in 480p on a PAL system, but it would almost certainly void your warranty (if not being illegal... I'm not too sure on that).

I have a Wii, an official component cable and The Twin Snakes and trust me it doesn't support 480p in any way and looks like fuzzy arse on an HDTV... as does every other GC game I've tried.

I recognise you said 'should' in that statement, but I'd probably have checked this before posting the article.

Edit: Just so you know, I'm not trying to be a dick about this, but I for one bought the pricey component cables a while back in the hope I'd be able to play GC games on my HDTV... despite it improving the graphics for Wii games no end I was disappointment it wasn't possible for cube games and I wouldn't want anyone to buy one on the basis of the above statement only to be very irritated.
