@chucklepie Probably bad optimisation for the engine (Unity).

Honestly I own the game and it doesn't play the best, I don't think Unity was a smart choice for this game but each to their own.

  • Mass Effect Andromeda and the quest for great facial animation

  • Cannon_Fodder 29/03/2017

Dodgy animations aside (Peebee holding a pistol backwards in one of her first scenes bothered me more than the strange faces) I've been having a blast since I powered through the first 4 or 5 hours.

It really doesn't offer anything new. Every planet despite being aesthetically different has the same encounters, enemies and quests. Some of the dialogue is just awful. I just can't put it down. The combat helps (it's fast and fluid), the story isn't all that bad and the explorer in me keeps pouring in hour after hour.

Bit of an unrelated rant to the article, but I guess I'm saying if you enjoyed any of the previous three titles you should give it a try and form your own opinion. You just might find a reason to keep playing beneath the lack of polish.

PS: Avoid Gil like the plague. Makes me want to jump out of an airlock everytime I interact with him.

  • Switch has redesigned portable gaming forever

  • Cannon_Fodder 08/03/2017

    Couldn't agree more.

I put a few hours in on the TV last night exploring in Zelda, left the system to charge, dropped it in my bag this morning and played another 20 minutes on the train to work when I got a seat.

At no point in that process did I feel hindered or like it was less of a experience (like I have done with PSP/Vita titles in the past excluding well executed indie games). I just enjoyed the game.

    Well done Nintendo.

  • Cannon_Fodder 06/03/2017

@Mrsyms ASDA/Tesco would probably be your best bet.

I ordered a Neon Switch click & collect on Friday to collect on Saturday at my local ASDA. They rang me an hour before collection to say they were out of stock in the Neon's, but they had grey's in. Cancelled my order and I went down and bought one in person. Plenty of them behind the desk.

Also have no regrets. The jump from docked/handheld and single/multiplayer is really fluid. Zelda is amazing. A few more titles and it'll be a justified purchase :)

As renowned as EA is with producing sports games on PC inferior in comparison to the console versions, I'm gutted this hasn't seen a PC release.

Makes me wish I had a PS4/Xbone. I'm positive their fighting games would sell on PC but they still seem to neglect the platform for games like this (Fightnight etc). I don't want to play FIFA on last years engine, I want to kick the crap out of someone.

  • Cannon_Fodder 04/03/2014

Art style looks absolutely fantastic in this, and 10-12 hours for DLC ain't too bad (in comparison to other DLC priced around that, even if I still find this a tad expensive).

I don't own Shadowrun Returns though, so I think I'll wait for a steam sale that has these bundled together.

This is a result of a cycle of resource re-alignment against priority growth areas within SCE WWS.
I'm sure that will be a relief to the family's of those effected.

Always find the explanations behind layoffs rather distasteful when it comes to the game industry. In summary it feels like "cancelled project, sacked hard working developers we probably shouldn't have taken on, GG NO RE".

It sounds a fickle place, where you can randomly be discarded without notice because focus is put elsewhere. Sorry to hear about the above losses, loaning people out and not having jobs for them to return to is a dick move.

So is part of the difficulty the fact if you run out of lives you have to wait to gain more, spam facebook friends or pay? I will never see this as a good game mechanic and it's for this reason I hate that EA Simpsons game too.

Imagine if every time you died on Dark Souls you had to wait a day to return to a bonfire or pay a small fee.

  • PlayStation 4 now counts for 10% of all Twitch streaming

  • Cannon_Fodder 10/12/2013

@zepekit Wind your neck in, I wasn't whining. It's my opinion, and I don't like the fact you have to stop and start your stream as from experience when you stop streams you lose viewers.

I have 11.5 Megabit upload, the highest I can achieve right now on Virgin Media. I have my PC and PS4 connected directly to my router and I can say hand on heart my PS4 comes no where near to the quality of me using a capture card and xsplit. Having a dedicated card to do the compression and streaming at 3000 kbps ...

Like I said. It's a nice feature to have and it's great they're opening streaming up to everyone. "I" found it underwhelming though.

  • Cannon_Fodder 10/12/2013

I found the streaming on the PS4 a bit underwhelming honestly. You can only stream while in a game, meaning if you want to swap games the stream has to end and restart once the new game has loaded.

Not a big issue to some, but I would have preferred them to allow you to stream at all times (even if the menus screens weren't visible). I found the quality a bit crap also no matter how I messed with the settings.

I ended up buying a device to that my PS4 would work with my capture card.

I suppose it's nice that streaming is now available to everyone without the need for a PC.

Kind of wish Sony would realise charging full retail price for a game and then tacking micro-transactions on is a dick move.

They got everything right this time around but that IMO. The amount of launch titles I have played that have introduced "in-game currency" you can buy with real money disgusts me, and makes me worry where we are heading. We don't all want the "successful" mobile formula you know.

@StooMonster Again, I think you're missing the point.

My argument is that people who BUY this game should be able to at least OPEN it.

If they're disappointed that it doesn't run well even though they are under-specced in comparison to the recommended requirements that's tough titties.

  • Cannon_Fodder 19/11/2013

@StooMonster Usual? Maybe, but I know of people who had 4GB of RAM running 64 bit Windows 7 who were pretty disappointed when they couldn't play release day.

It should not be a requirement to "OPEN" the game. Recommended for best performance? Sure.

  • Cannon_Fodder 19/11/2013

I think they're missing the point. This is a PC game, the game should OPEN no matter the amount of fecking RAM in your system.

Whether it runs well or not is another question. These should be recommended requirements, not required! Bloody Infinity Ward/Activision!

Why thumbs this down? I remember the gold old days of buying a PC game and attempting to run it on a crappy XP machine with a GeForce 4. If they allow people to buy their game they should let them try and run it in any environment they want.

@michaelhill A polished turd is still a turd.

I really think they missed the mark by a good margin. The horrible early release, the awful treatment of players, the naivety when it came to accepting problems in the game. I can comfortably say that I believe WarZ will never, ever be a good game.

In this review they used 'barrel-scrapping' to describe it. I never thought of it that way, but that's pretty much spot on.

@dogmanstaruk I was fully aware the game was in Alpha stages. That doesn't excuse the fact it is generally, on all levels a piss poor game. In this instance I wasn't criticising them for that, I was just being a bit sarcastic. But low and behold there were also a bunch of features I was promised when I bought the most expensive package which I have still yet to see delivered.

Combined with a bunch of mis-representative videos they published as footage on YouTube before the release featuring a lot of aspects of the game which we STILL have not seen, and their absolutely disgusting attitude towards the people they are attempting to sell the game to ... Yeah, I feel misled. It's all a bit shady.
