  • BBIAJ 17/09/2015

@XbDf As far as I'm aware, and don't quote me on this, as I'm certainly no expert on the matter, but if your games are installed to the external HDD, then your game saves are already effectively backed up, as they are also on the external HDD, and everything should be syncing up to the cloud automatically anyway. @MilkYMoO To be fair, it does say:

Forza 6: You may encounter graphical errors (screen turns a blue or purple hue) when participating in races.

Looks like I remembered the colours wrong in my initial post, but I'm guessing that with Forza 6 being such a tent pole release, that they will be looking to rectify this as a matter of urgency, and that should it happen, a reboot of the game may be a temporary fix at least.

@XbDf Same here, if I didn't, I would seriously have considered not opting in, especially as they stress multiple times that this is an unstable beta, so issues are to be expected. Reply +2
  • BBIAJ 17/09/2015

@XbDf If you read through all of the known issues with the new beta dashboard, accessible via the exact same place on the Xbox Preview Dasboard app that you would have had to opt in on the beta from, you would have seen that Forza 6 is one of many games and apps with compatibility issues specific to the new dashboard beta, in that it can suffer from a blue/green tint during gameplay.

No-one knows how big it is, as again, if you had read up on everything properly first, it is being rolled out slowly over several weeks. Also, it is recommended that you either back up everything possible, or use an external HDD for your games and saves, as the console will be reset to default factory settings, and everything's wiped from it, including local saves, so make sure that everything has been uploaded to the cloud in advance of downloading the new dashboard.

@djm99 This is a work in progress list that only people on the preview program are currently able to try out.

Come the roll out to everyone in November, there should be upwards of 100 titles on the list, but no-one outside of Microsoft knows what will be on there (although you can deduce a fair few possible ones from the marketing material released since).

If you don't think that the Gears of War trilogy, Judgment, Borderlands, Kameo, or the Viva Piñata games aren't great games, well then, that's your prerogative, but I'm sure that plenty of other people, myself included, would happily disagree with you.

As for the racing games etc, I'm personally looking forward to hopefully seeing the PGR and Forza games being added, as they're Microsoft first party titles, and the only ones holding them back from being added, are Microsoft themselves, and they've already said that, Kinect titles excluded, they want to get as many of their first party games BC as possible.

@cloudskipa " Because I don't remember seeing heads explode into pieces followed by a fountain of blood flowing from the neck, being able to blow off limbs etc.

It does happen, Borderlands 2 was another exmaple, despite having a setting to censor or not it still removed the above in the PAL version."

I don't know what version of the Borderlands games you've been playing, but that has always been a "thing" in the UK PAL Xbox 360 version of the games, as until I bought the Handsome Collection for Xbox One, that was the only way I had ever played them, besides the Vita version of Borderlands 2, but that version's a whole other story, with the way the enemies just disappear to conserve memory.

EDIT: The girlfriend's just checked her game, and the cloud has imported her 3 characters absolutely fine.

Are you sure that you've activated your cloud storage on 360, and uploaded the saves for the games you require individually?

@cloudskipa What sort of stuff was censored then? I wasn't aware of that happening.

Also, I'd have to go back and check, but I don't remember the shadow draw-in being as bad as it is here on the realtime shadows, not the more baked in stuff, but other than that, yes, this is a great job all round!

  • Batman: Arkham Knight to get The Dark Knight Batmobile

  • BBIAJ 18/08/2015

@telboy007 Having booted the game up briefly after downloading the DLC, before having to leave the house, although I couldn't start a New Game + with the Burtonmobile skin active, I could go into my 100% completed game save file, and drive around in the 1989 Batmobile, as Michael Keaton's Batman, leaping in and out of the Batmobile watching the window slide back and forth as in the films is even more of a joy than when I did it in-game for the first time when it launched!

However, I can't find any way of actually launching the DLC racetracks, I'm thinking that maybe the game needs patching first, in the same way that Forza Horizon 2 does for each new car pack?

@captainN2 More like practical reasons, there's no boot for multiple passengers to be stuck in for starters, and it's hardly built for taking the corners off of buildings, and lacks the tasers for zapping thugs as they bounce off of the body work.

That, and I'm guessing that all cutscenes involving the Batmobile would need to be redone, ref. people getting in and out of it etc.

@IronSoldier Rare are aware of the issues with N+B, and their backwards compatibility team are looking into it according to their Twitter.

As for IGN's review, complaining about a 10-15 second load is just petty nitpicking. Would Marty rather that those games weren't on the collection at all? If that were the case, then maybe he would have a legitimate reason to list some Cons, but as it is, it comes across more as clutching at straws.

HDMI output now supports stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, 5.1 Dolby Digital or 5.1 DTS (5.1 Dolby Digital new for March).

  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition comes with all the Gears games

  • BBIAJ 04/08/2015

Just pre-ordered the Deluxe Version, and Gears of War Xbox 360 is already sitting in my Ready to Install section, what a lovely surprise!

I don't/didn't own GoW 360 digitally originally, so it's seemingly not being distributed the same way that Halo: ODST was.

Also, good to see that Microsoft aren't adverse to supporting games BC, regardless of whether or not they have an HD release already out or in the works.

To be fair, I found out about this via Xbox Support on Twitter, as I was contacting them about a glitched Achievement that popped way too early on Rare Replay than it should have (completing all the levels in Snake, Rattle, and Roll), when I saw it kind of mentioned in one of their replies, but it was one of those things where I didn't exactly expect it to work, as they said that "some" people were seeing it now.

As there seems to be a heavy emphasis on Unreal Engine titles going BC (Mass Effect, Shadow Complex, GoW 1, 2, 3, Judgement), I wonder if EA would be inclined to get BulletStorm on there?

  • BBIAJ 14/07/2015

I'm guessing that, at the very least, this is a port of the PC version, as Prototype 2 weighs in at 10.22 GB, which exceeds the Xbox 360's maximum 7.95 GB dual layer DVD size.

Unless the additional size can be attributed to the DLC for Prototype 2, which is a total of 10.94 MB on Xbox 360, which doesn't really add up.

Still, I think I shall wait and see what the overall opinion is as to whether or not this is one re-release too far, before maybe picking it up.
