@dogmanstaruk Yet you're happy to blame Sony and the coding for their 2.0 update. You can't have it both ways.

@dogmanstaruk Just accept that it's bad coding. PC are updated constantly with new drivers and windows updates, it's rare anything goes wrong (bad ports aside).
The fact it was running before proves nothing. The fact it can't survive a console update when they will more than likely have had an early build of it is laughable.

@dogmanstaruk I didn't say there weren't issues with it. There are, I too can't use stand by mode. I'm saying that it's the only game that has become "incompatible" with the playstation. And there can only be one reason for that. And that is bad coding on the side of the game developer. Reply +1
  • Ashby678 01/11/2014

@DwarfyP It is backwards compatible. FIFA, Destiny, Second Son, Shadow of Mordor and every other PS4 game I own still works. This Alpha doesn't. But sure, lets blame Sony and not the developer and their poor coding. Reply +1
  • Ashby678 01/11/2014

@Michelasso That's exactly my point. I think there are too many butt hurt fanboys on this thread. I was looking forward to playing this Alpha and it was going to be my deciding factor in buying the game. I'm not downloading it again for my PC as the pre download just made the prospect of the Alpha even better. I guess I'm just not meant to buy this game. Reply +1
  • Ashby678 01/11/2014

@dogmanstaruk Yes, and every other game also runs on my PS4 after the 2.0 update. How come they are unaffected by this but this is? Probably because they are coded correctly for the system they are released on. Imaging every iPhone game broke when hey update the OS, or PC game every time windows or graphics card updates. It's very poor indeed. There is no defending it. Does this mean the main game will break every time there's a firmware update? Reply +4

I built a PC with a very similar spec (same graphics card and processor) to this and it cost me £750. Build it yourself and save yourself some money if you're going to build a PC. I could have saved more money if I had used Ebay for some parts, but I got them all from once source for it to be hassle free. FPS I am getting on some of the games that I've played on their list is very similar and slightly better in some games. Reply 0

@Cimeas I hope someone takes on Apocalyptic. I agree there have been too many, but for me none have got it just right yet. Some have great aspects to them but none have had that complete feeling for me. One of the games I enjoyed the most as a whole experience was State of Decay.
But for me, no one has hit the nail on the head yet. I couldn't tell you what the perfect apocalyptic (survival) game for me would be, all I know is my thirst hasn't been quenched yet. Thirst for that perfect apocalyptic game I mean, not the genre, the genre is overused, just not yet mastered.

  • Ashby678 08/05/2014

Awesome. Always thought multiplayer would be fun on this. Slight increase to mob health and no change in world resource generation would be the way to go. Meaning combat doesn't get too easy with more of you and it's harder to not starve initially. What happens if your partner dies, would they be gone for good like single player or would they be able to just spawns fresh guy in and pick up their death dropped loot?
Either way, I'm hugely looking forward to this. Thanks again Klei! :)

I have bought a few early access games, this one tickled my fancy but never drew me in, and now I'm glad of that.

There should be something in the Terms and conditions that if the game is unable to be completed then the buyer should be entitled to part of their money back. It's called early access after all, even the developers use the term pre purchase.

You wouldn't buy a car part made and then be told it wont be finished without expecting your money back, the buyers and backers should be refunded at least partially.

There are many more series being milked a lot more than Zelda. While the formula doesn't change a lot of the mechanics do. Whether small or large ones. I love Zelda probably more than any other franchise but I haven't played them all. I've only played three of the handheld ones (Minish Cap, Link Between Worlds and Links Awakening), and four Console ones (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword). I loved every Minute of each one although Skyward Sword I've not got around to completing yet. Just because there are a lot of games in a series it doesn't mean it's being milked. To me a milked series is one that becomes annual. Assassins Creed, FIFA, CoD, basically any mainstream game. I mean GTA is a much newer franchise and has two less core game than Zelda. Don't get me wrong I love GTA too. I'm just saying a lot of releases in a large history doesn't mean you're milking it. In some cases it does, I just feel in this case it doesn't. That being said, I would welcome a change to formula to the Zelda franchise. I would love to see a truly dark story-line for Zelda, Demon Dark Souls-esque I think would fit it brilliantly if done correctly. Reply +4

I had never bothered with many of the Xbox free games (I think I've downloaded two so far).
I also never bothered with the was between PS+ and Gold. I say war, after recently buying a PS4 and Vita I can not understand how Sony manage to do it. I've just got Outlast (PS4) and for my Vita, Gravity Rush, Dynasty Warriors Next, Guakamelee, Modnation, and Uncharted: Golden Abyss. For February for me that totals near £100 of games at their current digital price (even pre-owned would probably come close to £50). Had I a PS3 I'd have had Metro and Tomb Raider also. Sony are just incredible with their generosity. I've had PS+ for about 3 weeks and it's paid for itself already. Incredible Value!

    Roll on March 5th!!!

  • GAME to take on CEX with new pre-owned focused stores

  • Ashby678 07/02/2014

@SpaceMonkey77 How is paying for a pre-order bad. If you can afford to part with the money not thinking you may not be able to nearer the time due to financial commitments you may have during that month (car Tax/ Mot/ Insurance/ Quarterly Bill month/ etc) it makes sense you can guarantee yourself a game you want paying for it in advance freeing up money in the month when the game is actually released. Reply -3
  • Ashby678 07/02/2014

Condition can vary a lot more from experience of buying at CeX. But they generally offer more money for a trade in than GAME do. I've just looked at my 3DS XL and games and there was about £20 difference in value. Their prices are also on par or cheaper than what GAME charge for their pre-owned stuff too (again from personal experience, I'm not saying this is factual)

    CeX (Cash/ Voucher)-----Game (Cash/ Voucher/ Online Trade in)
    3DS XL Red: £84/£101 ----- £67/£75/£75
    Mario Kart 7 £14/£20 ----- £9/£12/£15
    DW Super Star Kartz £5/£8 ----- £4.20/£5.50/£5.50

Not ones I have to trade in, These I was just curious

    Pokemon Y £17/£25 ----- £11.30/ £15/ £15
    Last Of Us £14/£18 ----- £8.40/£12/£12
    Xbox One £269/£311 ----- £252/£280/£280
    PS4 £285/£285 ----- £234/£260/£260

GAME are ripoff merchants, their trade in prices are ludicrous. I'm not going to look at selling value as everyone shops around for those anyway. And I generally use eBay to sell as you're more likely to get more on eBay than either GAME or CeX. But for value for trade in, I don't think GAME can come close to matching CeX!

Edit: Spacing of prices making it easier to read.

  • Ashby678 01/02/2014

@L0cky I completely agree. While there are game out for it I just can't justify the purchase. It has so much potential. I feel that the main reason it's not getting the push is the lack of games, and I don't mean the quantity it has, I mean the type.
It's clearly capable of playing the games that are released on consoles with lower textures. So why aren't the developers using this. I feel that if they released like for like games with save compatibility Sony could get this going to it's full potential. The remote play feature is a superb idea, but I myself would only do that over Wi-Fi using hotspots.
Back to my main point. Ports/ Handheld version. I'm not a guru when it comes to processors, graphical power and other technical terms, but I know a little, seemingly enough to get me by. Handhelds are generally forgotten by Developers and EA with FIFA prove this, as I'm sure others do but this one springs to mind due to the blatant re-texturing and roster update only.
If they started releasing games as I said at lower textures with maybe a feature or two missing here and there that makes it feel like exactly the same game to the average person, I see no reason why games like Dark/ Demon Souls, GTA 4(possibly 5), The Last of Us, couldn't be released for it. If PC's prove anything it's that lowering your setting that take most of the processing power, essentially things that make your game look the difference between good, great, and superb. Could be the difference between a lot of sales for Sony. Tone down your AA, lighting, particle and all the other fancy effects. I (again with my limited knowledge) could see these games running on this, and that would only help the sales. And I'd pick one up right now if I knew this was going to happen.

They've had some really good sales and general value lately. I bought my 3DS (perfect condition used) from there with Heart Gold (new) for £100 which also came with a months rental for free which I didn't use.
Bought about 6 other 3DS titles there all for under £10 (most £5 and under) granted some older titles but still cheaper than what they were available for elsewhere. Most of which are still unplayed. The local one to me is always busy. Not all they're prices are great but that's the same in most shops. And granted that prices are generally cheaper online with most places now doing free delivery. But the ultimate reason the high streets are struggling... The world is getting Lazier!

I hope they are saved again and few (but hopefully no one) is effected jobwise by this.

@darkmorgado There is a difference between issues and what I've experience. My characters appearance as been altered, my stats now all read 0, apart from driving that's about 10. I've lost all my money, luckily I don't agree with the in game transactions as I could have lost up to £14 worth.

I expected issues, but not game breaking and for some, what could be money costing issues.I know it will all be fixed, but for now, I'm steering clear of GTAO.

EDIT: After starting again after deleting my bugged and fucked up character, I now can't even do the first race as there is no fucking race trigger!
This wouldn't be so bad, but putting the game back 7 months to "polish" the product to have it in this poor state it awful.
It's Rockstar, so it will be fixed, but this is a fucked up and beyond poor release of GTAO. While my now deleted character was working it was great.

  • Grand Theft Auto Online micro-transaction pack prices revealed

  • Ashby678 25/09/2013

@Spong You know how costs work right? That's development cost. For everything created so far. And the profit is for whats created to this point. So they can use this profit to pay for the devs to create more content that will be given to GTAO user for FREE! And if people want to spend a little to help get them started on the stock market they can spend a couple of quid. Me, I'll be missions only, I won't be spending another penny.
And If they go with hosted servers on their side then upkeep is going to be high.
And lets be honest here, we're talking about a company who doesn't just throw out a game a year that has micro transactions (COD, FIFA) we're on about one who takes time in developing games to make them as good as they can be.
Like I said, I'm not pro micro transactions in any way shape or form and we can't reserve judgement on them until we know how easy/ difficult it is to earn it online. It could be shitting on us the everyday consumer in an effort to make money, it may be easy to make money online which would make these almost redundant.
But with every game that uses micro transactions they're there as an option, you don't have to use them. And you may be able to benefit of idiot folk who do use them. We don't yet know if they have an absolute benefit as you need to level up to get better stuff anyway. These transactions may be redundant anyway. You don't have to buy them. And if people buy them but don't play the game much, well they won't be a high enough level to use it. So it's almost clearly not pay to win. I've never bought a micro transaction (in game/app purchase) and never will. I just feel there are two sides to every argument whether people are open to seeing them or not... that is up to them.
    Reply +1
  • Ashby678 25/09/2013

I'm against micro transactions in general, But with this we still don't know how easy it is to make money in GTA online. AND you have to factor in the cost of keeping their servers running (that's if they are using servers and nor user hosted games). So if GTA Online is to survive in the long run then they need funding from somewhere to pay these costs.
They've also said they will constantly be adding more content.
My other point is that Guild wars 2. £40-50 pound game on release, can use real money to bolster in game money, you don't have to but can if you want. Constant new content (granted on a much larger scale).
I'm still reserved to what I think about these micro transactions and will reserve judgement until I see easy/ difficult it is to earn money online first.

But lets face it. We can all group together rig the stock market, and we will not have to spend another penny! <<<< This is what we should do!!!
