  • Destiny 2 review

  • Ashby678 15/09/2017

I enjoyed 1 and I'm enjoying 2. I can't help feel it would have been better served as an expansion. With the type of game it makes trying to be, having locations from both games with all the new refinements would have made this game a much better prospect.

That being said, I'm really enjoying it so far, even more so now that someone posted on the forums a fix for the cabbage error for those with the affected routers.

@Eraysor I imagine it's unpolicable (if thats even a real word) as it's obtained in the offline portion of the game. That being said I imagine it'll be patched pretty rapidly. Reply 0
  • Rocket League announced for Switch with cross-network play

  • Ashby678 13/06/2017

@AdamNovice It's hardly giving a "leg up" though is it? It just makes matchmaking quicker and easier for a player looking for a match on all consoles. And you've only addressed the Cross-Play aspect, not them telling me EA Access isn't worth my money, surely that's the consumers decision to make?

I love my PS4 and it's the main thing I use to play games, but Sony have offered little to nothing "For the Players" since the consoles launch.

No backwards compatibility,No EA Access, No Cross-Play beyond steam, No Subscription Model (Game Pass).

Easy to argue Microsoft are only doing it because of their botched initial announcement, but it has helped deliver a great service to their user base.

I don't get why Sony are so against cross network. Then again, they are the company that told me that I don't want EA Access. Reply +18

  • Ashby678 22/05/2017

Not the end of the world at that price. It's probably a little steep, but at least it makes it replaceable. I do wonder if they'll ever sell the unit on its own too. Reply -11

  • Ashby678 19/05/2017

@Ajent I managed to get mario Kart for £35. Saved £2 on checkout with prime and they had a voucher offer that saved £5 on games over £40. They're a joke of a company. I still shop there, but I use them for trad runs on games I know I'll never play. Then when a new console comes out I never have to pay a penny. :) Reply +1
  • TumbleSeed review

  • Ashby678 02/05/2017

@JiveHound I feel pricing is generally included in any review that a game or software is subject to.

Most reviews, if they feel the price isn't worthy or potentially cheaper than they feel the content is worth will be mentioned in the review at some stage.

I'd point to Bomberman R as a more recent example of that. IGN mention in their opening paragraph the price is set too high, and Eurogamer mention it int their subheading.

So for the cost of this game, it's a recommend from Eurogamer, it's also getting good revies from other outlets too; 8's and 9's.

  • Ashby678 02/05/2017

@neems I really enjoyed it, especially considering it's only £4.50. It is short though. It took me an hour to complete on one of the characters. There are three characters to play and each save file encourages you to complete it on each character.

I feel it's worth the price and has high replay-ability due to the multiple characters and short nature. I'd recommend it personally.

@Daeltaja there's a normal retail and a Six Edition (collectors edition).

I managed to get hold of the collectors edition from GAME. It was only £27 too. It's comes in a really nice box, and comes with soundtrack, a small Six figure, some stickers and a poster. I really like the Six Edition. Fully worth the extra £11 in my view.

Great news. I really do love my switch. I didn't expect to like it as much as I have done. But with Fast RMX, Zelda, Mario Kart, Kamiko, Shovel Knight, Mr Shifty, Snake Pass. It's a cracking little device. With only more coming.

I'm really looking forward to arms too.

  • Microsoft is adding self-service refunds for digital Xbox/Win10 games

  • Ashby678 12/04/2017

@HybridTheory85 I'd still go with months. EA access is EA, not Microsoft, I'm still annoyed Sony locked it on PS4 though. Origin access is better (albeit slightly) than EA Access.

The backwards compatibility is great though. The last few months with their Netflix style service and now a refund service akin to steams.

While I generally hate digital licences (Steam sales not included) there's certainly been s step in the right direction over the past 12 months on Steam and now Microsoft based services.

  • Microsoft scrapped plans to launch beefier Xbox console last year

  • Ashby678 12/04/2017

@StarcasM You can read it how you want. I Own Zelda, Fast RMX, Snipperclips, Shovel Knight Trilogy, Snake Pass and Graceful Explosion Machine.
I'll also be buying Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Odyssey, Arms, Mr Shifty and Splatoon 2. But sure, it lacks games, don't be so naive!

Compare that to the Gears 4, Forza, Recore, Sunset Overdrive and Quantum break I bought the Xbox One for. I purchased it in November 2016, bought with gears and Fora for £240, Recore £20, Sunset Overdrive £7 and Quantum Break £20, totaling £287; I sold it in January this year getting £190 for the console and about £50 for the games, gears was digital so Still own that should I ever upgrade windows 10 or re-buy it, so it cost me £50 for three months and I got the chance to play all the games I wanted to on the console, Quite a bargain I'd say.

I didn't say the Xbox lacked games, I said it lacked exclusives, which it does. Had you the ability to be balanced and read the whole comment you'd have realised that. The cancellation of Scalebound was the nail in the coffin. If more exclusives are announced I'll probably pick one up again some time in the future. But for now, for me at least, it wasn't worth owning.

Hopefully you had the patience to read that.

I got rid of my Xbox One S earlier in the year due to lack of games.
Now I have my PS4 Pro and Switch. I feel the PS4 and it's Pro counterpart have the upper hand due to the amount of great exclusives currently out on it. Something seemingly missing so far on Xbox. I liked Recore, GoW 4 was great, I loved Forza Horizon 3. Personally I've never been a halo fan, but I can see the draw. Quantum Break I couldn't get into. They're also all similar games (mainly shooters), and I feel like that's what's letting it down.

Compare that to the likes of Bloodborne, Nioh (similar), Uncharted, Persona, Nier: Automata, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Horizon, MLB Not only are there arguable more games, there are more game types.

That being said, The Scorpio looks like it packs an incredible punch, I'd feel like I was being naive if I thought Sony didn't have something to answer the power it has 12 months down the line. I've always found the Pro comparable to the One S and not the Scorpio. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out from here on. Both have strong consoles, I feel Sony with the better lineup, but that's now, and that can all change.

  • Ashby678 07/03/2017

I adore mine and can't put the thing down. I got it for Zelda but now own Snipperclips, Fast RMX and Shovel Knight.

Once there's a Pokemon game out for this it'll fly. It's clearly a successor to both the WiiU and 3DS.

The only things I am a little disappointed by is the lack of 3DS/ DS cartridge slot and the way game save files are kept.

  • Nintendo Switch off to solid sales start in UK

  • Ashby678 06/03/2017

I've got to admit I'm absolutely loving mine so far. In my probably near 30 hours on Zelda (I genuinely cannot put it down) I've had one issue of one of my left joycon having slight connection issues. Other than that it's been fantastic. The only two small gripes I have is the battery life, I do not feel I'm even getting two hours from Zelda on about 35-40% brightness in airplane mode. I do have a 20,100mAH battery so I don't think it'll be an issue when I do use it on the go if the 10k one extends it as long as digital foundry's testing showed it to. With the other being no save backup (like the WiiU), but that being said, while hardware is always capable of faults, Nintendo really do have a good track record of Hardware not developing faults.

With it being a port of the WiiU build I cannot wait to see what this machine is capable of with software built specifically for it's architecture.

@Uncle_Fishboy Bloodborne, Uncharted, Nioh, The Last of Us, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Dragon Quest, Yakuza, MLB, Persona, Gravity Rush, Danganronpa, God of War, Infamous, Killzone. But sure tell me how it has no decent exclusives.

I've just (yesterday) traded My Xbox One S in. It has nothing going for it. Games with Gold is better at the moment but that's it. Exclusives are no where near touching Sony. The cancellation of Scalebound saw me get rid of it. Loved my time on Gears, Forza and Dead Rising. Couldn't get into Quantum Break, Recore was pretty good but I never finished it. Rare Replay is the best thing about the Xbox One, and that says it all.

  • Ashby678 12/01/2017

Is it me or is the price of games the reason they're not making enough. And by price I mean too low. While I'm happy from a consumer point of view prices have stayed the same. With increasing costs because of inflation, gaming is one of very few areas that sale prices are unaffected. I remember sonic on the mega drive costsing what new releases cost now. I imagine salaries have gone up in the gaming market since then, budgets are higher, sales targets are higher... but new releases still cost the same as they did all those years ago. The only thing I can think counters that is there are a lot more people playing games. It's the only reason I feel they've been almost unaffected by inflation. Just my thought on the money side of it anyway.

Hope all affected find something new sooner rather than later. Having not long been made redundant myself it's not a nice place to be in.

But there are many little touches that make this world feel alive. Using the taunt you can get random passers by to start hitting you, and if the police see them they arrest them and take them away.

I've had a gang member in a red area be arrested by police only to try and make a run for it, be tackled down by one police officer and shot dead by the second officer.
