Sadly I don't think it'll ever hit these shores legitimately now (excluding Australian imports), especially with the Nyan/Keyboard Cats lawsuit in the states. Easier to drop it and churn out the next one instead... Reply +6

Nintendo Wii Mini review
I see it being a collectable gaming curio (sales are going to be, let's face it, crap. Second hand not-knobbled Wiis are cheaper and have more functionality) - and the red and black colour scheme will match the Virtual Boy, which it will be joining on a shelf.
Having said all the negative stuff, remember previous nintendo console updates like the revised NES and SNES units - those things are now hen's teeth rare. Hell, even some of the Game Boy Advance Micros are starting to rise in price. I suspect in a few years this will have the similar dubious honour of crap hardware that's rare and collectable. Reply +5

Nintendo responds to Mario sequelitis criticism
But after watching my wife play her copy, I ended up getting a copy myself, and don't regret it now. It also helps that it seems to blend a lot of the worlds and enemies mechanics from Mario 3 and Mario World (which the marketing hasn't really focussed on) - perhaps without those, it wouldn't be as good or as interesting to me... GameCube celebrates 10th birthday in the UK
My wife and I both have our Gamecubes, even though we got rid of any other console 'doubles'. I have far too many fond memories of holding what was at the time, the world's best video game controller (it still fits my hands perfectly), and smash brothers til stupid times of the morning ;) Reply +1
Raspberry Pi Review
I think Arduino (and that ilk) would be a bit of a strange comparison. Arduino is very much geared for fairly simple computation and a lot of hardware interfacing. That's why it drives 3D Printers and so on - it doesn't need an OS installed to do excellent work, just some simple programs and a hell of a lot of outputs to motors, etc.
It's like trying to compare a car rim+tyre with a trolley castor. Both are fine as wheels (well, depends what trolley you pick hehehe), but they're made for vastly different purposes and you wouldn't want to switch them! ;)
[Edit - should say, I've got about 3 Arduinos, and my Pi should be in my hands by the end of the month] Reply +2

Revealed: GAME's memo to staff on Mass Effect 3 cancellation
I personally wouldn't be sad if Grainger took over on the high street from Game.
I do feel sorry for the good game staff though. There's been a decent set of guys in Newcastle's stores. Sadly all of the store managers seem to be dicks, lying about preorder bonuses, and telling customers who don't know better that they *NEED* to buy accessories (SD cards, etc) or 'the games won't work'. Actual New Games of 2012
The controls feel pretty loose and tread the line into frustrating. I liked the cosmic cat and cosmic crow and the combat was ok, but it just didn't set my world alight - it felt like a game made entirely of the bits from Bayonetta where you fell, and a bit of simplistic combat inbetween.
Of course it might be another one of these games where the demo doesn't show how good the game is (I'm looking at you, Driver SF) but even so, it feels like it needs some polish + tightening.
I'm certainly hoping it improves - Katamari Vita at 4800 Yen (preowned!) was definitely a mistake (I note the UK's getting it at ~£25), and Uncharted Vita alone can't justify the purchase to the (gaming) wife. Reply 0
Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Review
You get poker-chips representing a pokemon (and 'win' a new one every time you play for 100Yen [about a pound these days]) and play against either the machine, or other players (with their own set)
It's quite interesting as it's based on squads of 3 Pokemon, and puts an emphasis on moving the chips around to be more defensive/offensive/etc. It's quite frantic (at times) and surprisingly fun.
You can see more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Battrio
and a video here:
(it's worth watching if only for a guy that looks like Japanese Hitler!)
I must admit, I have wished, truly wished, they'd make a peripheral for the Wii (or 3DS), release a home console version with Wifi connection play, and make a small fortune on it. It doesn't hurt that the gameplay is actually worth playing. Sadly, it sounds like Skylanders have more desirable toys (compared to the pokemon battrio coins) but the gameplay is sorely lacking. :( Reply 0
Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition has bonus character and mission
I might be a chump for doing that, but Mass Effect, like Assassin's Creed, keeps me entertained for WEEKS.
Compared to £8-10 for a cinema ticket or £50-100 on a night out (totally pulled the night out numbers out of the air based on friends going out to the Toon) or something like that, it's f***-all, and it's nice to get some random promo tat/trinkets, artbooks, or in ACR's case, a big, well printed, nicely bound encyclopaedia.
But I do understand why it sucks for people that just want the digital content but none of the physical stuff. They should make a halfway house edition between standard and collectors. Reply +2
