Pandemic doesn't really want anyone mentioning the word Battlefront in conjunction will Conquest, but the comparison is obviously inevitable. Still, it looks fairly pretty, let's just hope that the commentary isn't compulsory.

Hobbits. For years they were the innocuous, friendly geezers of the fantasy world. Happy-go-lucky gardeners and petty thieves who survived on their charm. Then Elijah Wood came along and suddenly they were annoying, mealy-mouthed little tykes. Well, now you can kill them, in their hundreds, thanks to Conquest. Enjoy.

Conquest is the first Middle Earth game to allow you to abandon your boring hobbitsy principles and slip on the comfortable spiky slippers of Sauron. The prospect of crushing a few phalanxes of snooty elves under the feet of an Oliphant has us chuckling quite maliciously.

Pandemic's battlefront-esque take on Middle Earth is the latest in a long line of titles surreptitiously sidling up behind Peter Jackson's adaptation, band-wagon jumping shoes at the ready. This time though, you're at least given the chance to stuff it to the smug do-gooders of The Fellowship by playing as the bad guys.
