Oh well, I've already got few Cube pads and a Classic Controller sat about (as well, of course, as the Wiimote+Nunchuck) so it doesn't matter too much. I'll just have to try it out for myself I suppose.

You timed it?

The wheel is fun to use, but for time trials etc. it's far too inaccurate or unresponsive - for example it's nigh impossible to power slide correctly and consistantly on the bowser bike.

There are too many blue shells though - I'm going to end up breaking something if I keep dropping from first to last place inches from the finish line.

That's pretty impressive, three of those would have been on the start line.

no, B is jump, 1 is brake.

I thought that but according to the manual B & 1 both do the same thing i.e. Hop/Brake and Reverse

I wouldn't have thought so but he definitely blocks the wiimote signal. Has cost me gold on geometry wars too many times.

he is a rather large dog (greyhound)

You are unlucky then, or I'm lucky (suppose it depends on what you prefer) I got blue shelled once maybe twice before the line, on the second lap and manage to get straight back in with things like Bullet Bills.

Although I do seem to get hit alot by them after crossing the line to win, so I suppose I could just be very lucky.

Maybe it's the red-glowing eyes? ;)

Blue shells are annoying. MORE annoying though is the length of time it takes you to get put back on the track if you fall down a chasm, or off a waterfall. Instant drop back to 12th place for me in a couple of games last night.

I do findthat there's not many Blue shells online though.

Anyone else have same experience?

Not too many but still more than there should be.

So - no ghost item then so you can deploy to dodge the blue shell, ala MK64? (which was perfectly handled). Cant believe they didnt put the ghost item back in.

SO can you turn specific items off for multiplayer like in Brawl? Can we turn off JUST the blue shell in online vs?

Is there a way to hit the blue shell with a green shell if you get targetted?

I am SURE this used to be in the N64 versh, but I could be wrong.

No customisation of the items at all? I was sure I read that this was possible.

That didn't work, did it?
I remember it being unstoppable...Also a very good item to keep trailing behind you as it stopped all green/red shells without disappearing...

Can you avoid Blue Shells in a similar (but obviously different) way to this?:

The manual says yes;

Recommended - Balanced items
Basic - Less high powered items
Frantic - Loads of the buggers
None - none.

Interesting - if "Basic" turns off the blue shell, then its FTW.

Hmmm that might be worth a go with the rest of the EGers tonight then.

therefore I am correct.

Well, you didn't give the full story. It's debatable how "correct" that makes you.

It probably doesn't get rid of it either, just extremely low chances of them.

I'm just guessing mind.

I just recorded my biggest victory online. I beat a group of Brits and Frenchies by at least half a lap on Mario Circuit 3. I own that track. 8D

Anybody having problems with being disconnected from online races ?

Seems to be quite random, anything from 5 mins to 30 mins. Nothing wrong with my net connection afaik, as my kid was on WoW while I was playing MK and he had no issues at all.

Tried it without anything else using any bandwidth and the problem is still there :(

Only played 4 races online so far but I did get disconnected from one of them for no reason that I would see. It was a little frustrating as I ended up losing a load of points for it!
