We had a bargains thread a while back but as that's probably all hideously out of date I thought it was time for another one.

Forgot to mention this one yesterday and I mentioned it in the GC - Good/Bad one so here goes :-

SSX Tricky Gamecube is £9.99 at Woolworths, UK. This isn't a local offer as it had a pre-printed "fake" cover with the price as part of the design.

I also noticed they're doing :-

Shox PS2 at £9.99 as well. There's plenty of other stuff (DVDs/other games/CDs) going rather cheap in their sale too but those two stuck out. I already paid a tenner for Shox a couple of weeks ago from Game's website, it's certainly worth a punt at that sort of money.

Not too intersting for you British guys, but I have noticed cheap PS2 titles here en masse suddenly. Also saw Shox for the low Price Whizzo mentioned. Lol, I hadn't even known it was released already when I saw it in the bargain bin. Other titles were Batman, G3Extreme blah blah, Mr Mosqeeto etc. etc.

um, damn! i was gonna suggest a thread like this, but went out..

anyhoo, i picked up super monkey ball 2 at CEX in leeds for £30 which was pretty good. also got a GC copy of resident evil for £12.

i reckon we should have a regular weekly thread where we list our best bargains picked up at weekends..

Forgot to ask Whizzo, how's Shox? I was thinking of picking it up cheap as well. it got a pretty good review at...attention...gamesdomain, but most other reviews were less favorable.

It's a fun, not serious at all, arcade rally game. Highly enjoyable, plays well in multi-player and zooms along at a hell of a pace, for so little money it's an absolute steal.

wavebird for £27.61 delivered from dabs

not much of a saving on the dixons price, but it should be readily available ;)

figure in the 20% discount and its £22.36 (ish) for a wavebird at dixons so id say clear them out for their GC peripherals while you can get them at that price.

i mean getting a wavebird, another offical controller, a 251 memory card, and rgb cable for under £55 is hard to beat

I've touched on this before but I got a Game RGB Scart lead (£8!) with my new PS2 last week and bugger me if it didn't like 60hz (Burnout2 and VF4 in b/w). Took it back and got a lovely gold plated Logic 3 one from Argos (£6!) and it's all good now, 60hz and nice and sharp. Now I'm suspicious of my GC Game RGB lead (have whinged about the picture elsewhere here before) so ordered one from Logic 3 (just to be consistant and safe). What's up with that Game PS2 lead then? If it goes into b/w then surely it's not a true RGB cable, just a botched composite - and the Logic 3's picture is alot sharper - I think we should be told! Anyone else had this?

The PS2 SCART lead I got from Game for about 8 quid does 60hz but is very badly shielded. On my TV upstairs I get wibbly-wobbly interference lines if I use it due to the close proximity of all the other cables. Downstairs it's fine, but there's a lot more room for spreading stuff out down there.

Conversely, the official Nintendo RGB cable that I got from the Cube gives a rock-solid, crystal-clear picture wherever I use it. I suppose it just shows that you get what you pay for.

Good on ya! It's a corker. esp. as it was a release title.

I found Tony Hawk 2 GBA pretty tricky (lot of fun though!). Tony Hawk 3 OTOH was pretty easy and I had no problem completing it.

Agreed entirely. However, at £6.99 THPS2 is very good value.

Is there any place I can get Silent Hill 2 for Xbox for under £20? Or should I just stick to PS2 platinum version?

Doesn't the PS2 platinum version have the stuff in it that was supposed to be in the Xbox version anyway?

I'd say pick that up for 20 quid...!!

Oh, woolies are doing GTA 3 for 22 quid now but this is probably old news.

Might not be, actually. GAME are listing the Platinum release at £24.95. Hope this isn't the new pricing level for Platinum stuff! Games should be getting cheaper, not more expensive!

I managed to pick a copy up from Ebay for £11. There always seems to be copies for sale on there.
