To be announced today

A port of the original MW game coming out at the same time as the sequel on the HD machines.
I'm expecting a shitty port.

Haven't they done pretty good ports of the CoD games before?
Of course it won't hold a candle next to the original but with some decent pointer controlls it might interest some.

Maybe a chance for High Voltage to sell their engine?

I really liked WaW on Wii. The controls felt just right. I still play it more on 360 for the larger community, but it was a reasonable, playable enough version of the game. I loved the Perk system making the move, I was concerned it'd get set aside for Wii. If MW has that, I'd have it.

I still play WaW on Wii. The controls make playing online good fun.

Well yeah, that's what you call it. It's based in Modern times. If it was another WWII shooter it would admittedly be a shit and misleading name, leading to fraud actions, but as is the title won't get changed I reckon.

I hope it supports Wii Speak, it's the only thing I felt I really missed in WaW. Being able to co-ordinate a little would be nice. I wonder if it'll have the DLC maps for multiplayer?
EDIT: Not as DLC obviously, given the Wii memory, but on the disc as part of the game. I think it'd fit.

Don't really understand the lack of maps in general, TBH. Conduit's short on them too.

Wouldn't the SD card be able to handle that?

Considering it's a port of a 2 year old game, making them pay for the DLC would be a bit of a poke in the eye really.

I suppose it would now Nintendo seem to allow some streaming. If I had to guess though, I'd say they're going to try to stick them on the disc locked then ask for money to unlock them. That way people don't need an extra SD card, everyone can access the maps, and by sticking in a placebo long download that downloads nothing people feel like they're getting something.

A bit cynical of me, but I'm just looking at all the options. I'd imagine they'd either have the extra maps on disc or just leave them out though.

Fantastic game on the 360, i doubt the port will be that bad if treyarch are looking after it, they do get the call of duty franchise, just not as good as infinity ward... Multiplayer will be where its at.

IGN Preview

Pretty much anything tagged with the name Call of Duty seems to sell these days, and for good reason. Infinity Ward's shooter series has been a consistently standout experience, from the original PC version through to the megahit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Previously for the Wii audience, Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty 3 were available, but coming this November the same developer will be reworking Infinity Ward's modern day firefight to run on Nintendo's console.

As Treyarch stated up front at a Gamescom 2009 hands-off demo session, the Wii version of Modern Warfare will include all the features of the online features of the other versions. That means the entire leveling system, all the perks and unlocks, and everything else that helps make Modern Warfare such an addictive online experience. While World at War on Wii only supported up to eight players at a time, Modern Warfare will feature support for 10. This comes at a cost, unfortunately, as Wii Speak will not be supported. The game will also not use Wii MotionPlus.

That being said, Treyarch is confident they're delivering a better product than World at War. It'll feature host migration (meaning if a host leaves an online game it doesn't just quit out), there's a more streamlined process of inviting in friends to play, and the game will have fully customizable controls. You'll be able to aim with either the Wiimote or the control stick, and adjust a number of dead zone sliders and precision aiming modes. And if you have one sitting around, you can also use a Wii Zapper.

There's also the option for co-operative play, something that was not in the previous versions of the game. At any time while someone's playing through the single-player campaign another Wiimote can be turned on and activated so that a second aiming cursor shows up onscreen. While the main player will still control the gun and orientation of the screen, the second player can fire anywhere within the field of view and even pick up different weapons as they're walked over by the main player. This doesn't change anything about the game (enemies don't suddenly become more difficult when the second player is active), but it should be a welcome feature for anyone who finds the game too challenging or would prefer a more social gaming experience.

Treyarch said a number of engine enhancements have been made as well, with higher texture resolutions than World at War and better particle effects. After seeing Modern Warfare Wii in motion, however, it's wasn't particularly impressive compared to prettier Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. Even so, the version of Call of Duty 4 this is based on is still a fantastic shooter experience and features one of the best multiplayer suites around. Here's hoping the Wii version can stack up. Look for more information once some hands-on and multiplayer hours are logged.

Because Activision like money. You could in fact say they collect it!!

saw screens t'other day, hideous. I saw some comparisons to GC call of duty games and they're infinitely worse.

I completed WAW and MW on the PC at rediculous res and max details and they are good looking games.

I now only have a Wii and bought WAW for it and it is not a million miles away. The res is much lower and the detail distance not as great but it is not THAT bad. I am sure MW will look ok in motion, and we can't really complain we are getting these games on the Wii.

If Modern Warfare looks and plays as well as WaW, I'll buy it. I'm only interested in the multiplayer anyway, and Treyarch have confirmed that MW on Wii will have all the online features of the other versions.

Are Activision seriously trying to steal EA's crown as the worst Publisher in games industry? It's a pretty close fight at the moment it has to be said.

Great game in HD (oh okay I played it at 1680x1050, but I prefer 16:10 anyway for FPS).

If they can get the sense of immersion right I may pick it up for the Wii to play with friends.

MW2 for HD? Not sure I will be able to drag myself from l4d:2.

Modern Warfare's developers say Modern Warfare's graphics are ace:

They might even be right.

Not that I'm 100% convinced those are Wii shots, but they are very nice. If it looked like that, I'd have it. Heck, if they didn't keep it above the £30 mark I'm still waiting in WaW getting under and I'd buy it.

I quite liked WaW when I rented it, but the online people seemed a little rubbish. I'm a self-confesed shit gamer, but I was getting enough kills to keep releasing dogs nigh on all the time.

Well in the video it says press "x" to reload, which is an xbox360 button. So no, it doesn't look like that's Wii footage.

The control hints in the bottom-centre of the screen don't look like they're for Wii controls.

If you check the images on IGN it looks like a different game.

Nothing to see here. Sorry all.
