Just because they've withdrawn the property from their listings doesn't mean they've exchanged contracts, hunt down the sellers and make them a higher offer. ;p

Well done Otto!

BlizeH, are you still continuing with this madness?
Why don't you get a brain and move into a shared house in Bristol, give yourself time to really get to know the city and how much you live there.

Whatever you imagine you are saving by paying a mortgage instead of rent disappears when you take fees, stamp duty, interest etc. into account, better to rent for 6 months and be sure.

1 Bedroom, 3 Bathrooms??? No wonder the website's called DAFt. Still looks like a nice spot.

Cheers otto, but I haven't even been inside the house to have a proper look around, and there were a couple of things I had to confirm with the estate agent which I obviously wouldn't be able to do now!

Not interested in moving into a shared house, sorry ecosse

Rent a flat then.
For someone who never does anything you're taking a daft unecessary risk.
Aren't you someone who wants to meet more women and make friends in a new city?

So buy a flat then! You don't need a 4 bed house! Swanky apartment on the river = mucho fanny imo.

Is it just me or is it insanity for someone who's terrified of London to move to Bristol for the 1st time and immediately buy a house there despite being single and having few to zero connections there just because he's got it into his head that Renting = giving your money away?

en suite when you live by yourself?

You'd certainly get an en suite in a flat.

You can make a rented flat your own FFS, just rent unfurnished and take your furniture with you when you later buy (with genuine confidence that it's the right move).

Last time I checked, landlords aren't too happy when you start splashing paint about on the walls ecosse.

He's not even asking for advice and he's getting gyp! Leave him alone! :D

So anyway, have spent the afternoon on hold to various mortgage advisors. Yuck.

As the entire site hassles him constantly for not making a decision maybe we should just respect this one, whether we think it's right or wrong.

But I have mates who would probably move in somewhere down the line if I decide living by myself isn't all that, or god forbid I actually get a g/f or whatever... I just want two bathrooms, no big deal
That's fair enough. I hope you have plans on pimping the fuck out of the house if you get one. None of this "that TV is too big for this room" nonsense for you!

Depends on the landlord really. Some are OK with it, esp if it's a bit run down. Others are at the extreme end where picture holes etc have to be filled, re-painted etc.

Jealousy. I've made a promise to myself that when it comes to buying a new house there has to be at the very bloody least one room for me! Just the one I decorate and mess up how much I want. If a 50" screen will fit in the room it is going in the bloody room.

/keeps dreaming

Getting anywhere otto? I imagine that must be quite a huge headache, trying to get it sorted... quite a scary prospect in some ways!

We had a couple of preapprovals back in May but they've expired so now we have to go through the whole bloody process again. Also looks as if rates have gone up slightly, though still looking OK for longer term fixed rates which we'd want.

3 year fixed offset at 4.49%... or 10 years at 6.09%... hmm...

/is turning into a mortgage bore

What the hell does it matter what a load of people on an internet forum think of it? Are you really that influenced by what others think?
