The cheeky fuckers at YesAsia have hiked the Enamel Navy one in price ($219.99 instead of $199.99). The white one used to have a premium as it was harder to get hold of. Then they all had the same price, now they've raised the price of the Navy one because presumably demand has increased since you can't get that one in the US or EU. They are also selling the EU black one for $299 (£160!).
Hmmm. Only an 18 quid premium for the navy one.
I'd rather get one from the UK though in case of dead pixels etc.
The alternate DS Lite colors are back down to $199.99 at yesasia (delivered, inclusive of P&P) and the enamel navy one is in stock. I am very, very tempted but will probably manage to hold out as it is probably worth my while trading in my old DS and getting a UK one. Fwiw, yesasia have always been good in my experience (both personal and reported) for replacing stuff, although I don't know about anything as expensive as a Lite, nor whether they would actually replace one for dead pixels.

In case you guys were wondering the bearded guy saying the 'DS sucks' was joking.
There is another video of him saying how much the PSP sucks- which in itself is making fun of the original moron that was actually serious. Unfortunately the original morons a Nintendo fan... doesn't do much for our side.
PSP sucks link (same guy):
PSP sucks
Original Moron:
This guy is actually serious

GAH! Still can't decide! The gf reckons black coz it's sexy and shiny and sleek and 'executive' and I just like it coz it's Darth Vadery, but almost EVERYone else reckons that white is the way forward because Apple have made it cool, and it'll match the iPods and it's the new black and it's also shiny and lovely and says 'Play Me!'.
But I keep thinking that white somehow looks more flimsy than black. Although sometimes I find myself thinking, yeah, I love the white interior. But the cartridges will look silly as they're grey. And isn't white a LITTLE bit girly?
CAN'T.
DECIDE.
:(
If the black is anything like the psp it will show up dust, scratches and finger prints something chronic. White just looks nicer as far as i'm concerned, plus it goes with everything.

I really did fall onto my arse into some shit once, you know. It was at the top of a hill in the country somewhere, to which my friend and I had been driven by his parents. It seems that I have put a mental block on how I got back to my friends house. It must have been embarrassing.

I thought the same but I've barely put it down since. Can't wait for my Lite now.
why is it so fun? I just don't know if it will appeal to me or not..nobody i know has one so i can't even try one out really (even a regular DS I mean, just to try the games), the last nintendo I had was an N64 and although I liked it, it lacked games.

But the GBA cart sticking out issue really upsets me. :(
Edited by Owen-B at 08:21:49 06-06-2006
Doesn't really bother me that much now, although I wasn't too keen on it from the pics either.
But after a while of using it you don't really notice it - It never gets in the way or is even remotely obtrusive.
That said, once the new G6 Lite is out I'm going to sell my old EFA Flash Cart and get it.
Here's hoping that the G6 peeps decide to do away with that dumb uDrive system they had where it had to copy games from one part of the cart to the other to play (loading times, what do they think this is? A PSP?) - A simple 512MB cart with direct loading and .SAV transferring is all I need.

Not too arsed about the Passme as I like buying DS games and they ain't too expensive. Flash cart for GBA games is a must have though as it allows you to carry around loads of titles on one cart :)
So this is cool and new to me :) Can you copy your gba carts to it somehow, or do you have to aquire backup roms ?

Presumably if you own the carts in the first place then aquiring the backup roms isn't too dodgy.

Can you put media on the G6 Lite?
(Almost certainly yes, but I'm just making sure)
Would I be able to use it with a Mac?
Have I missed the point of Passme?

Nope, thats a common myth that originated from the oft repeated maxim that adorned old school ROM sites.
You'd still be a "Yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, me hearties" type of fella in Ninty's eyes.

I didn't say it was all fine, I said it would be less dodgy. Piracy is still piracy no matter how you justify it, but then again I'm not sure that many people would have a problem with downloading roms of games you actually own.
Anyway, I'd be tempted by a supercard type thingy just for Scumm DS. I can run it on my phone, but the interface is really crappy, and the screen is too small.

i wanted to get all scumm but on the xbox it's too fuzzy and old on the phone it's too awkward to control the cursor on such tiny areas but with the ds it could be just right for me.

Right then. I've finally committed and placed a preorder for a white one from game.co.uk for £93.99 (fiver off voucher and 1000 reward points, plus I'll get a fiver's worth of reward points from it).
No games though. All of game's prices are silly.
Now it comes time to decide what games to get.
I've already preordered NSMB from £20 from HMV using their 20% off thingy, but that won't come until a week after the DS is released.
Basically want all of this lot, but can't afford them all, so if you could recommend the best 2 or 3 to get straight away I'll pick up the rest when I can:
Cheapest internet price in brackets.
Phoenix Wright (£24.32)
Brain Training (£15.99)
Wario Ware: Touched! (£16.89)
Kirby: Power Paintbrush (£24.99)
Metroid Prime: Hunters (£24.99)
Advance Wars DS (£14.58)
and the maybes:
Meteos (£24.99)
Zoo Keeper (£14.99)
Rub Rabbits (£14.99)
Mario Kart (£20.49) - this is a maybe because Diddy Kong Racing is coming out sometime in the future and I loved that a lot more than MK64
While I'd love to buy them all, I can't so I need your help to prioritize them (or cash donations, that would work as well).
Phoenix Wright is near definate. The rest are up in the air. A nice mix of different game styles would also be good.
I'm also tempted by Ouendan! (£23.89 from YesAsia). How well will I cope not knowing any Japanese, and is it not just worth waiting for Elite Beat Agents?
GO!

Advance Wars, Metroid Prime: Hunters and Mario Kart ftw.
Phoenix Wright is allright, but I'd hold off on buying that until you have a few games with some re-play value first.
And Ouendan is awesome - Add that to your "definates" list too :)
Edit/ Meteos is superb too... so many good games for the DS!

I know! Hence the difficulty in just picking a few to buy :(
And there are loads more coming, like Starfox, Zelda and DK:R.

Advance Wars and Brain Training would last you a while I think - but then I'm a big fan of strategy games ;-)
Phoenix Wright is great if you like adventure games and click with it's sense of humour.
Another vote for Ouendan for rhythm action j-pop fun :-)
Meteos and Zoo Keeper are both good puzzle games - there's more unlockables etc. in Meteos, but ZK still holds it's own for accessibility and the "zoning out" that you get with good puzzle games.
Metroid and Kirby are both very good games - but I haven't quite got into Metroid as much as I thought I would.
Another game to keep an eye out for is Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - I *REALLY* enjoyed that and it really got me back into 2D platform games again :-D Fantastic game but nowhere seems to have copies nowadays.

It will have to be white. The smudges / finger prints should show up alot less.
Have you guys seen the DS to DS lite comparision video on gametralers.com?
