Project Zero 2, great game sad ending :(

Tales of Eternia on PSP - another great game, took roughly 35hours to beat. i still think tales of phantasia was the best "tales of" game.

I'm on holiday, so I'm hoping to be able to bump this thread fairly regularly over the next week or so.

Just finished The Darkness. I liked it a lot, but it's no Riddick. And the lack of sign-posting may have been deliberate, but it annoyed the piss out of me. I can barely find my around IRL, so I've never liked games that either don't point you in the right direction, or have a really good map.

Still, I await Starbreeze's next effort with baited breath.

Is it baited, or bated breath? Who knows.

Anyway, just saw off God of War II. Cracking game, and it knocks the original out of my top 5. Battle against the Sisters was legendary, although...

re: the ending, didn't they get the memo that everyone hates the Halo 2 ending?

Finished System Shock 2 (third time). Brilliant game, excellent design and use of audio. Also one of the best ending levels ever. Now I just have to wait 3 weeks for the spiritual successor.

Poor Tommy Suarez though...

Overlord

Finished this for the PC...

Fun game, a mix of Pikmin with Dungeon Keeper, after all, it is good to be evil...

Good graphics, noticed 1 or 2 slowdowns (Running everything on max at 1200x1024) but that might be the fault of an underpowered GeForce 7600 GT.

A fun story with an cool turn around in the story in the end.

Much of the fun was do to the minions..

There where some design decisions (that for the PCjust don't make sense), trying to teleport from one place to another you have to return to your base, no direct teleport... No save anywhere option, just a stupid auto save when you enter a level...

in the end a 7.5 out of 10...

Destroy All Humans, which I'd stopped playing ages ago when something better came out. I decided to finally finish it this week. It's is still a good laugh, with some great one-liners from Crypto, I wish the Flying Saucer had looked more retro though, and I thought blowing up the White House would be more fun.

Colony Wars. I was planning on playing all 3 games from start to finish this weekend, but I forgot about the branching story, so I just thought I'd get all of the endings instead. Why the hell weren't there any games like this last gen? The closest thing I can think of is Mace Griffin, which really wasn't in the same league. CW Vengeance next, the CW Red Sun, which I've never finished.

TMNT (GBA)

It was great fun and well designed. The controls were very responsive. Never really had that feeling that you had died because of anything but your own mistakes. Just be warned that if you do not like timed battles this game does include an entire level of them. Also the save mechanic is a bit wrong for a portable game. Now to try and collect all the achievements or maybe move onto Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows.

8/10

Finished Bullet Witch on Normal difficulty yesterday.

Fucking hell, not sure I've played a more frustrating game, ridiculously clunky controls (that manage to seem both too fast for actual aiming and at the same time too slow for turning), stupid one hit deaths from snipers and random bits of scenery being flung at you, and an end boss that literally took about 20 minutes of solid shooting to kill and has really cheap ghosts that are impossible to shoot.

And yet I cant help liking it slightly.

5/10 (probably not worth paying more than a tenner for, mind)

Tomb Raider Anniversary

Good graphics on a classic game do a better game make!

I really enjoied replaying the first TR with the new closes, with the exception of the T-Rex fight everything felt better than the original... very fun to play...

Now I can only hope that TR2 also comes out in this fashion (3, 4, Last Revelation and Angel of Darknes can go have an horrible death)...

Bioshock (on 360). 9/10 would be the score I'd give it.

It is a very well crafted experience, but there are certainly some things that could be improved upon.

Bioshock - and it's a ten from me. Quite possibly the best game I've ever played.

Killzone Liberation on the PSP.Would give it a 9/10.The downloadable 5th chapter really adds something to it and the challanges and medal ranks give it lots of replay value.

Also I played through Resistance on the PS3 again. This really is a great game.An easy 9/10 from me.I still get daily use out of the online mode 5 months after launch and I know some people will probably say thats because there is nothing else on the PS3 but there are a number of games I would be interested in buying for it but I don't feel there is a point until I get bored of this.

8/10, great game

if your not into continuous level grinding with little exploration stay away from this game though.

Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One (Xbox)

Linear WW2 FPS, but still varied and scripted enough to rate a play through. Not as intense as its PC half brother Some of the best visuals on the Xbox as well in my opinion.

7.5/10

Shivering Isles pc

Probably worth it just for the main quest alone (read: sheogorath), liked the contrast of the two enviroments, probably not worth it if you're still on your first character though.

7/10

The Darkness.

Great but flawed game. Firstly the dissapointments. The darkling ('friendly') AI was simply woeful. They hardly ever followed you for more than a couple of minutes due to either burning or getting stuck.

The shooting was quite unsastisfying and the darkness powers were hard to get a grip of. Also the constant need to create darkness was a right pain, shooting every light in a building out isn't fun. There were a few glitches too, like side quests conflicting with the main story and being uncompleteable.

Also the other world was boring as hell (pun intended) but did have some unsettling moments, in parts the scare tactics used reminded me of condemned.

Good things were the great graphics and superb voice acting. A brilliant story let down by a rather weak ending provided the highlight. Once it got going it was fantastic though, exciting and unusual. Some very daring design decisions too, one of the most unique shooters I've played.

Would be a 9/10 if it could have kept going for a few hours more, has to be an 8 in the end due to the 'filler' otherworld and short play time.

It's a certain sign of a good game if I spend nearly the whole weekend completing it (about 22h of playtime).. ;)

Finished BioShock at 5am this morning. Very enjoyable throughout - not a 10/10 though.

Bioshock here too late last night, got mine a day early and only working part time atm ^^ Loved it, if not a 10 it's a 9.5 atleast. Would be a 10 if you had more freedom story wise.

Finished my first playthrough of Bioshock on hard yesterday morning. A really good game but i think in a way all the glowing reviews hurt my impression of it. the bits it does well like the setting and atmosphere it does effortlessly well, but it has flaws that i just couldn't ignore. i'd give it an 8/10 and have been recommending it to many people.

Shadow of the Colossus. Why I waited a year and a half to start it I'll never know. I thought it was an absolutely incredible game.

Going to start Okami tonight!
And maybe finally finish off Phoenix Wright.
