Mike raises a fair point. In the world of lycra, anything with a waist size over 28" is considered obese. Anything over 32" morbidly obese. Those with 36" or greater waists are generally dragged out of the shop by a team of specially trained domestiques.

Well, put it this way. I'm 175cm tall, 71Kg and I fit Rapha medium bibs.

    32 inch waist, GSOH. :p

85kg 177 cm. Normally between morbidity obese and getting dragged out shop on the psychotext scale.

This might be the reason for purchase, my brother for his birthday has asked me to buy myself some bib shorts to prevent the bum cleavage next time we ride......

It'll be a case of trying some on for size. I'd suggest going for a pair that are a bit shorter in the leg, so that if you need to size them up they don't get too long.

Gore are pretty decent, certainly hit quite a good price/performance point. You might need to try an XL.

Some brands are more stretchy than others. Rapha use a pretty heavy grade of material that doesn't give much, Gore are more stretchy. You don't want them too stretched, because Transparency.

At the risk of sounding like a massive racialist, look at US brands, the cuts are a bit more generous. Mavic, by contrast, are ludicrously small. Like, I need an XL, but that's tight, in pretty much all other brands I fit easily into Medium.

Heh, reminds me of a top I picked up in a Wiggle/CRC sale the other year. Can't remember the brand, something Italian...went for the XXXL...it'll be some time before I'm in that!

I went for some baggies for shorts. Cash is tight though, so went for some cheapos, and they're a bit shit really. They'll do for the hour or so I'm out but not much more.

Have a look at the DHB range on Wiggle they tend to go up to larger sizes than most. Avoid anything Italian.

    I'm 183, 82kg (32" waist) and I went with a Large size.

I'm a 36 and also large, I'm cycling to to lose it though and ideally would like to get to 32, I'm not a big lad, it's just all in my waist/belly.

    I've lost 2" in 6 months hard training, I don't think that's too bad.

I copied the league code when I went to enter my own team into the league. I then copied the URL, losing the league code. I didn't get an email yet, I copied the league number from the URL displayed when I'm viewing the league page. I hope it's the right one.
Give me a shout if it doesn't work.

There's rain and then there's rain imo. Showers and drizzle, no bother. Not interested in cycling in downpours imo. But then I am the very definition of a fairweather cyclist!

Cool, 9 people. That's a good turnout for a last minute effort. :-)

In unrelated news, I spectacularly came off my bike last night, about 20m from my house.
In this google view, I came from the right hand side, at good speed. Slowed down to do the 90 degree turn right and then where the yellow dashed line stops, I wanted to mount the little curb. I was standing upright on my pedals, legs stretched, then I pulled my handlebars and pushed down on one pedal and the right handle just slipped off the handle bar completely, causing my right hand to fling out, my left hand to suddenly pull my whole steering completely to the left and my bike to crash, with me carrying on thanks to my forward momentum.

There was a moment as the right handle slipped off where time seemed to freeze for a split second and I thought "oooooooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" and then as if in slow mo, I went down, rolled over my right shoulder until I was half sitting upright, skidding forward on my left leg and left arm until i stopped a meter or so further and did that involuntary "bouncing straight up and on my feet" that you somehow do after you fall off your bike.
Straightened my steering wheel and did the last 20m, locked up my bike an contemplated how bloody cool that roll was.

Must fix that handle before it comes off again whilst I have the kid in the child seat on the back of the bike. :-/
