It's not a bad little ride the Fallo loop, I use it to get out to the Peaks via the Huddersfield then Peak Forest canals. You can also come of at Reddish ( 6 on that map) and loop round via Reddish Vale and the Trans Pennine Trail to our neck of the woods.

Yeh, there's a few places I can drop in and out of it. I ride up and down the A5103 Princess Parkway anyway, so I should be ok. Gonna make it a longer route home, go from Piccadilly, towards Fairfield St, and then ride along the whole route until Chorlton and head back to Northenden.

I've started cycling to work instead of using the car to get back in shape and save a little money, the thing is my bike is shite, heavy and clunky and oldish, I was cycling to work today and met up with a work colleague half way, he had a beautiful bike, a Boardman Hybrid and I tried racing him but he led me with ease because of the better gears, skinny tyres and light weightiness, he said he got it off of Ebay for 250 which is a steal.

I'd like to broaden my search into looking for something similar and along the same price, I'm going to sound like a fanny right now but it has to be either white or yellow whatever it is.

If you buy a white bike you have to make sure you keep it clean. I made the mistake of buying a white mountain bike...

I've got a white bike I'm going to sell in the next month or two once I've gotten round to giving it a service, its a specialized Allez road bike - drop bars etc. it's pretty white if that's your thing, white frame, bar tape, tyres, saddle... Size 56 which suits someone about 5'10" to 6'2" most comfortably.

I've said it before, but skinny tires is the best and cheapest upgrade I made to my bike. Think it was 50 quid for a pair of skinny slick bulletproof tyres at the time (Conti Supersport Plus) that were the thinnest I could go safely without changing my wheels. Would be 70 quid now for the same in my LBS mind you - damn inflation.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Colour is a factor for me I guess, but I never set out with one in mind. Just sort of fall for it.
That Peregrine I linked some pages back is a lovely Fire engine red and Cream.
I must be a fanny as well.

Tomorrow I'm going to assemble my TDF dream team. Have limited web access, I get 15 minutes quota time at work. A supermarket sweep then. That website is no good on a mobile.

The more garish the better for me. Red/orange/white for one and a blue/white/pink/neon lime frame on the way. Life's too short.

It's a bugger getting the wardrobe ensemble right though.

Do you now what size frame you need?

I've been doing a 25mi loop for the last few months and am getting a Bianchi road bike to replace my Raleigh MTB next week - can't wait - the number of sportive guys that have gone by and sailed seemingly effortlessly into the distance while i puff away on fat offroad tyres is so depressing.

That Bianchi is a nice looking bike.

I'm quite in the mood for a new bike, despite not really getting the time for cycling to justify it, but y'know...

I like the Nirone, quite discrete for an Italian bike.

Talking of white bikes - I recently got one of these.

It was the only bike they had in the shop for a chap of my height 6'5". Really impressed with it so far. Significantly faster than my 29er mountain bike.

    When do they get revealed?

Also, I'm supposed to be doing a 100-miler tomorrow morning/early afternoon ahead of watching Stage 1 at Pretorius Bikes in Shoreditch's fashionable Shoredtich. I suspect that may be quite hard work.

Teams are under wraps as long as they can be edited. Once they head off tomorrow or shortly before that, the teams are frozen en you can check who has put what riders in their team.

    Good luck everyone.

Also: today's google doodle is TdF themed.
