You drink a double espresso if you want to look cool at the coffee bar, you ride a bike because on that moment its all you are and you live to ride.

I don't drink coffee. I ride my bike because I can't afford a car. Smelly Irish economy..

I've been given what could be a very exciting opportunity, access to a frame builder's workshop and tools, so I could build my own frame(s) under his supervision.

I'd have to pay for consumables, but that's a trivial cost compared to the other setup. I was pretty gobsmacked when he suggested it to me.
For some reason this reminds me of crafting in WoW.

Why do Sportives have such stupid names? The Beast of this, The Hell of that, etc etc.

I'm thinking of doing one called the Mendip Massacre, or The Cheddar Gorge Genocide.

I'm a six footer who rides a too small frame. Makes me look sort of pro.

New PB on my usual lunchtime bimble, knocking 2.5 mins off my best. And that was with headwinds and a weekend of excess!

What time are you setting off on the Dun Mike? I'm considering it, my wife's been in hospital though so a lot of it depends on how she's recovered by next month.

Normally start between 8 and 9 pm. I like to be in Epping before it's properly dark/close to kicking out time, as that's the only hectic part of the ride.

Sorry to hear about your missus, hope she gets well soon.

It's an absolutely cracking ride. You'll need a decent front light, I use a Hope Vision One, which is more than adequate, and runs on (high capacity) AA rechargeables.

Cheers, hopefully she'll be back to normal by next month, it being a night ride means she's not left to manage the monster on her own too much anyway. I'll confirm either way in a week or so.

What's your plan for the return, train or cycle?

I hope not ... but yeah ... the tour is always incredibly nervous, so crashes galore. There's something to be said for less teams or smaller teams to reduce the overall nervousness in the pack.

YES! I meant to set it up over the weekend but I didn't find time.
I'll set it up tonight and post a link here. Feel free to share it with mates, colelagues, family, etc.
A 5 man league is a bit small. More fun if there's a few more people.

Joel can you get your line-up submitted early please? After your stunning Giro effort, I want to just copy your team and then tweak it with 1 or two riders in the hopes that it puts me over you. ;-)

Well. My missus has agreed to pick me up in the estate car. I am very lucky, but it can take her, me and one other (complete with 2 bikes). I have a mate who has first dibs on a seat, but he may welch on me.

Some people get the train (local trains can get very busy, Ipswich is a good bet) there are coach & bike return tickets, but they sold out super fast this year.

Heh, no worries, can always hop on a train easily enough. Stuffing the bike on a coach with a few dozen others fills me with dread anyhow.
