Nice win for Cav today. Me not picking him gave him a great chance.

Caught the end of today's race, the winner looks to be on good form. another mechanical for OPQS, the curse of SRAM Red strikes again.

    Anyway heres my team:
    Wiggo
    Nibali

    - yeah i know ;)

    Caltado
    Rabbotini
    Bouhanni
    Betancur
    Tiralongo
    Santambrogio
    Uran
I started off with Wiggins, Hesjedal and Cav in my team. That didn't work. =)
So I dropped Wiggins sadly, I hope he does well but of course I sort of hope if he wins overall he does so by putting the pink jersey on someone else's shoulders initially, letting them take responsibility and sacrificing their team before claiming it in the last week.
Would work well for my fantasy team.

So far keeping Cav in paid off.

Glad grey matters got on board last minute. I thought we had a three horse race for a moment. Looking like a proper little league now, with 5people. And of course the only woman shot straight to first place.
    ;-)

Anyone watching the team time trial? Sky is out right now. Getting close to half way about now.

    Sky did a good job.

Early days though and I'm sure it'll all be decided in third week on last 3 mountain stages.

Just toured 5 parks in our town with our son on the trailer bike. He's certainly not so little now. Glad I got a break for 10mins or so while he played at each one for a bit before we headed for the next one!

The hills with an extra 25kg or so on the back were definitely more of a challenge. Especially after a 10k run yesterday too.

I wish I was sat at home right now watching today's stage. Completely forgot to record it as well. Although I don't really have time to watch it, so I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Man, despite hosting the second biggest multi stage tour in the sport, the Italians still are a bunch of amateurs sometimes when it comes to putting on a good event.

Yesterday some mad policeman on steroids was pushing riders* out of the way because he wanted to make sure the follow cars could get through.

Today some muppet on a motorbike (TV camera I think) was going too slow in the descent and forced a Garmin rider to evade and go off the road.

Seriously. Get some experienced people in that know what they're doing.

*this was after a crash. The rider had gotten back up and was on the right side of the road, his bike was over on the left side. This copper was keen to get all these cars through, so he shoved the rider aside to make sure he didn't cross. Idiot.

Back from the IoW Randonnee. Both me and the missus completed the 100k route, which was very scenic, and the weather couldn't have been nicer.

We stayed at a pub called The Fishbourne, which I would very much recommend.

There was a 6-year old kid who completed the full distance to, on an Islabike. He had the full randonnee card stamped to prove it too. Quite the little badass.

He certainly did better than the unfortunate rider who failed to control his speed on one of the descents and ended up shattering the rear window of a car with his head, snapping his frame in two in the process. :(

Dunno, by the time we came across it they'd closed the road and diverted the ride. I spoke to a doctor and a policewoman who'd been on the ride together and saw it happen.

Apparently he was pretty badly cut by the glass, but was talking to them. Carted off to hospital by all accounts.

Each to their own, but I think in that scenario I'd be happy to have strapped my helmet on beforehand.

Indeed. I presume he was wearing a helmet, otherwise I suspect it would've have been worse.

There are some pretty fast and occasionally technical descents on the course, even though I wasn't exactly blatting around it was definitely a "helmet on" ride.

Just finished watching yesterday stage. Good stuff. Got to 5k yesterday live before i had to go to work!.

Good attacking riding all round! Shame for scarponi though! (was his off a crash? and inside 3k?)

I think Scarponi was indeed crashed and further than 3k out. I think he stood waiting for a teammate to give him his bike over a minute.

Only seen summaries and the live feed in the afternoon. It did look like a cracking stage. From the bits I caught. :-(

Ah well. 2nd place in the EG league! Wooo!

Glad you had a good one mate, the weather was cracking eh! Fishbourne Inn is ace, one of my fave pubs (they also own a couple of others, equally as good). Not done the whole route, but know some of the descents! Islabikes are all the rage it seems here this summer, seen loads out.

Just finished the 179 mile Walney to Whitby route. Did it in 3 days with 5 other mates. It was probably the toughest of the trips we have undertaken (c2c, coast and castles, lochs and glens north). All of those other trips had days that were easy on them. This trip didn't!

Nice job. After doing that 8 hour run on the weekend I must say that the idea of an epic appeals to me.

@Dougs Yeah, the Fishbourne was really nice. They've just put in a mahoosive patio and garden area too, which is lovely.

I felt sorry for Di Luca. Out in front at 900m ... 600m ... 400m ... swallowed about 300-250m from the finish.

Odd for Wiggins not to be in the group of GC riders at a +0' time.
  • Deleted user 7 May 2013 17:38:32
What slowly filtering through twitter is that he got caught up in the crash that was inside 3k. Apparently the giro jury have only allowed the rule to apply to those who have crashed and not the people who got cuaght up in it.

    seems a bit harsh.
