Are you doing what I did possibly?
Hit the select riders link and then try to click names on that page?
I toggled adblock and adsweep off thinking I was missing radio buttons or something.
Turns out there's a black button on the top right hand side that you need to press to get in the actual selection page. The first page is just a listing. Usability disaster that site. =).

Click the team and at the bottom right of the page there's a "league manager" section that you can use to sign up.
Fuck it. I can't do worse than last year, will sign up when I get in.

Cock it, I've been mulling it over for long enough and I think it's time I just pulled the trigger on a Colnago Master. It's the 30th anniversary edition, I'm 30, it's obviously meant to be, and the art decor paint job has grown on me sufficiently. The only question is - red, black or blue?

Lush. Red or Black I reckon. Remember that red bikes go faster, that's a scientific fact.

After my hiccup with Canyon I'm thinking about what to look at. Tempted by some Titanium frames, may take out a Pretorius for a weekend to see how I get on with it, they are just up the road from where I work.

The other option is to make my own frame. I reckon that a fillet-brazed Reynolds 853 frame is achievable, although getting the gear together will take a bit of time.

I quite like the black one. The accent colours work really well on it.
Red is of course faster, cant argue with science, but I was leaning towards the black only for some reason I can't quite come to terms with plain old black, I usually go for something a lot more garish. On the other hand I've got a dazzlingly orange/red bike already so maybe go for variety and something more reserved for this Sunday best of a bike. Blue doesn't cut it for me at all. Oh well, I'll take a ride down to Sigma in a couple of weeks so I've got time to ponder.

Reckon you'd be able to do all the brazing and everything to build a frame at home without too many specialist tools Mike?

I'd love to do something like that. My wife would actually kill me though, I've already got a good half dozen time and space consuming crackpot hobbies that get in the way of each other, I don't think she could stand much more.

The colouring on the black and blue seems... wrong in a way on the back fork. Looks better on the red version. I'd go for red because of that.
Oh and because it goes faster of course.

I missed it and a friend just emailed me that she signed up to the site but couldn't select any riders.
    I blame the site.

@elstoof Some of it would be OK, but it's getting it straight that'd be the issue.

Now I've done a course at the bicycle academy I could use their Frome workshop for the final brazing.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, so I'll have a think on.

I'd imagine fillet brazing to be a lot tougher than lug work to do right, unless its it really fancy shapes. If you ever need some lugs shaped up I'd give it a go, I spend all day carving wood and shaping leather so I reckon I could do a decent job on lugs if I take my time ;)

I see Basso's just pulled out of the Giro with a cyst the size of a golf ball. Not that he'd do much but always liked him as a rider. He was going to be the team leader.

You need to look at the right hand side, top of the page for an ugly balck button with blue letters. That takes you to the selection page.

    @Salaman

    ;-)

Was never the same since he came back after his ban and he's 35 now. I would have put him in top 10 but certainly not on the podium.

I'm probably not a million miles from you but not riding this weekend. Doing my last long ride tomorrow (90 miles) before first Sportive of the year next week.

You could try getting to the Rapha soho shop on Brewer Street for their 9am ride.

Yeah but Wiggins and Hesjedal was too costly point wise and you have to put in two GC riders. So I went for the cheap 10 point man Basso. He's clearly not going to get me any points as a non-starter to I've had to reshuffle things. :-/

yeah i had him too also, rjuanjo has been withdrawn too over his on going doping scandal apparently.

Quick question frequent travellers...what's the height of the car and roof load with a bike on top? Am booking ferries, and obviously that costs more, but one in particular wants to know exactly! (Haven't bought the bars and carrier etc yet to check)

Depends entirely on the car, the rack and the bike. Mine runs to exactly 1.70 meters... but that's a mountain bike on an old pug. If I was to put it on a Range Rover it would be an entirely different story.

If you want to guesstimate it, measure to your roof, add 20 cm then add the height of your bike at its tallest point.

Cheers, that's a pretty good guide. Ford Focus, so not enormous, but not small either.

Hmm ... it's a 3 man league so far. Nobody else tempted to set up a fantasy GIRO team?

quite difficult to choose. Do you go with the two clear favourites or go for a more rounded team. If Reider had more form i be tempted to go latter. Got a feeling scarponi is going to have a good tour this year.
  • Deleted user 3 May 2013 22:26:50
    Anyway heres my team:
    Wiggo
    Nibali

    - yeah i know ;)

    Caltado
    Rabbotini
    Bouhanni
    Betancur
    Tiralongo
    Santambrogio
    Uran
