Just fancied a turbo session and my Elite Rampa- overnight, because I used it yesterday just fine- now sounds like an angle grinder. I think something has become dislodged and is grinding away in there. Back to the shop I suppose.
Never buy Italian. Or, rather, buy Italian, enjoy how nice it looks for a while but use it with a sense of impending dread about how well made it is

I've got a place in this year's Ride London. Not done a ton since I effed my knees and I've put on about 3 stone since then as well. Time to ramp up the turbo!
You’ll be fine, they make sure 90% of entries are Freds who’ve never cycled further than the pub anyway so you’ll feel fast no matter what
Particularly “enjoy” The Shovel and Downward Spiral on The Sufferfest, something to really look forward to PT.
I already did the shovel (along with power station) in stage 2. Having that at end the of 9 days of hell is just stupid to be honest. It was bad enough when it was done for Sufday, and that I could make sure I was rested for.
I'll probably just massively tank the intensity so I can get through it.
Ugh. Noticed a large chunk of paint been chipped of my top tube this afternoon. Something had fallen off the rack near where by bike is, not sure what, because there is nothing on the floor, so someones dropped something or knocked something over by accident and not told me. I've asked around but silence. Weirdly my break on my trainer had been set loose as well. Ugh. Yikes i sound paranoid haha.
So ordered some orange enamel paint to fix it. Just more annoyed that if someone had an accident they just didn't tell me. Luckily it looks like just a big paint chip. But my pride and joy /o\
The catch on my bike lock attachment to my frame once broke, so I rode back with the lock locked around my top tube. The mile or so it took to get back created dozens of little chips in the top tube. It's an aluminium bike though, so the paint is largely cosmetic and I've just left it. It's a grey bike over silver aluminium anyway, so not really visible unless you're looking for it.
Yeah my winter bike has a lot of chips. Its bound to happen from time to time with odd lose stones being fired at you from passing cars. It's just the first one on my new one an and unavoidable one at that haha.
Enamel works well- my most recent bike was a reduced one- new but damaged in shipping with a 10mm circular chip on the top tube. It was a bit jagged so I very carefully sanded the perimeter smooth (with 1200 grit paper on a cocktail stick and a magnifying glass) and then painted in enough layers of enamel until it was slightly proud. Enamel takes a long time to properly harden so I left it two weeks and then extreeeeeeemely slowly flattened it back down to level with the paintwork. Then buffed it all to remove the sanding- it was a bit easier as I was repairing a black section, but you really have to look for where the damage was now. £350 saved
Day 6 of the tour done. "Rest" day tomorrow (weights) as I figured 4 hours in total would be a bit much.
Can anyone point me in the direction of cycle racks / storage? I need to try and work out some sort of secure(ish) solution for my garage.
This seems neat, but I'd need to put a security wall anchor in (and a chain) to actually secure the bikes.

I don't trust anything that isn't cemented into the ground when I'm out and looking to lock it to something. But yeah at home I don't have that so I just rely on locking it to something sufficiently bulky and heavy the be a nuisance to anyone lifting it, and hidden from view, and covered in plastic bags when its hidden away so even if someone does see it they're unlikely to know what it is. Anyone camping out the place in a car could easily see me put it away though, so that's a risk still.
I've had my garage door cut through before (twice), so I need something with a bit more meat to it. Plus, it's my gym, so space is very much at a premium (hence needing to go vertical).
For security I'm probably going with these:
Protector 16mm Chain
Torc Ground Anchor
We recommend 600mm as an optimum spacing between the racks when all racks are at the same height. This spacing will ensure that the bikes handlebars do not overlap each otherClearly haven't ever seen a mountain bike with 800mm bars...

You can just alternate the height of the mounts. Putting one in upside down would be a pain because of how they go in.
I doubt it'll be an issue though because all the bikes are different lengths.
Yeah, those look good provided you've access to some form of masonry to bolt the thing to. Unfortunately, I'd have to get through wooden floorboards first. But I've not been broken into yet, so I'm reasonably happy with what I've got.
Also, can't you store bikes top and tail to allow the extra width and the head end? You then only really have to worry about the pedals fouling each other.

I'm feeling a bit worried now. I don't lock bikes to anything- I've got rubber flooring down under the bike section with the turbo permanently set up etc so it'd be a pain to engineer.
The garage door has a lock screwed into the floor and a deadbolt at the top to hopefully stop someone rotating it open... other than that, er
The other approach is to buy a shit bike, which is what I've done.
My turbo bike will remain unlocked. I don't need any more excuses not to train.
I probably should get a monster cable to run through everything, at least for when I’m away, ta for the reality check.

Evans have been utter dogshit in sorting the turbo trainer. After the weekend it'll be three weeks, they're "at the mercy of Madison never getting back to them" the poor little lambs.
Had a word with the manager this afternoon and might has well have not bothered, can't tell me what's happening or when it might be sorted, twat.
