I'm planning on watching one of the following films tonight:

    Rambo
    Elite Squad
    Insidious Chapter 2
    Ender's Game
    Berberian Sound Studio
    The Wrestler

But I don't know which. Not seen any of the above yet.

HELP ME DECIDE EG! Obviously I will post a review here after.

Yeah, First Blood. One of my 'films I really, REALLY need to get around to watching' films.

I liked Elite Squad most out of the ones I've seen from that list.

Make sure you watch the alternate ending for First Blood on youtube after you see the film.

First Blood would be my pick, purely because it's so ingrained in popular culture. It's also a great action-revenge film.

Berbarian Sound Studio is a tricky one. Good film, but definately a curio. If you like Giallo, arthousy, Hitchcocky psychological type stuff then you'll enjoy it. It's weird, but not really weird enough for my liking. I found it a bit boring to be honest.

The Wrestler is not overrated. It is an excellent film, and Micky Rourke is monumental in it.

First Blood is a genuinely good film, go with that. The others not so much, but they're still worth watching on a lazy Sunday or something.

The Wrestler is pretty crap really, give it a miss.

I'd like to know how Berberian Sound Studio is, actually.

It's absolutely cliche-ridden, but Rourke is pretty good and it's very nicely shot. I was disappointed with it though.

    It couldn't be more cookie-cutter
It has a pedestrian narrative, that doesn't mean it isn't an excellent film.

If you really don't like cliche ridden, Christ analogies about wrestlers, then I guess you might find The Wrestler disappointing.

To Live and Die In L.A. 4/10

Was really looking forward to this and I ended up turning it off halfway through. Dafoe is very disappointing as the villain of the piece, he has no presence about him. The main character is a laughably big 80's arrogant moron. His new partner is anonymous. His former partner is 3 days from retirement. The soundtrack takes away from the movie, rather than adding to the scenes. Just a mess really.

    Elite Squad is excellent.

    American Hustle

Holy shit this guy wishes he was was Scorsese. Even allowing for the possibility that it's an "homage" as opposed to a straight up rip-off, it's a bit ridiculous how far it goes. Every shot, every line, every song screams Scorsese. It's one of the most derivative things I've ever seen.

That aside, I still enjoyed it, although slightly despite myself at times. It's irritatingly enjoyable like a Take That song.

    7/10

Except for that one where they rip off Mumford and Sons. I fucking hate that one.

Or was that a Gary Barlow solo effort...?

    Tracks

A young woman decides to walk from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean (1700) miles, using camels to carry her gear. She walks. It's pretty hot. She goes a bit mad. Good film based on real life events. I had no idea there were feral camels in Australia.

Largest population of camels in the world in Australia.
