I didn't notice that the voice from NASA was Ed Harris till the credits too. That was a smooth move.

Premium Rush with Joseph Gordon Levitt.

    7/10

JGL is fast becoming one of my favourite actors. This is one of his older ones. Bit of a silly story about a bike courier being pursued by a corrupt cop but enjoyable nonetheless. Not a patch on some of his other work but still enjoyable for what it is.

    Kings Of Summer

    8.5/10

Extremely funny, poignant coming of age tale. Highly recommended. It's on lovefilm.
There are some great one liners, and one of the best off-beat characters that I can think of in Biaggio.

    Genuinely great.

    Getaway

Very poor. Ethan Hawke in sleep mode. Avoid.

    @khaz

Can't believe the only way I found it was looking at a 'Top 10 Samurai Films' list.

I've seen a ton of samurai films but this is easily near the top of the pile - deserves an absolute ton of acclaim.

    My Neighbor Totoro - 9/10

Wonderful, magical adventure. The imagery is beautiful.

    Evangelion 1.0 - 8/10

This is pretty much a scene-for-scene remake of the first few episodes of the TV series, but with improvements. Although that may seem pointless it is great for any dedicated Eva fan (like myself).

    Evangelion 2.0 - 7/10

This film looks great, but that action sequences are too flashy. The new plot direction is genuinely interesting and the new character, Mari, brings something different to the Eva mix.

    Evangelion 3.0 - 7/10

Again, this film looks very pretty, and has some great Eva moments, but it is a bit of a mess. The narrative has jumped forward in time quite a lot and, as such, the film raises more questions than it answers. It feels like the first half of a two-part film. The direction they have taken is definitely interesting though.

    Princess Mononoke - 10/10

A film with fire in its eyes and thunder in its heart.

    Enemies Closer.

The new Van Damme film. It's crap, despite the name director (Peter Hyams). Just no budget.

Just a remake of Cliffhanger without the snow.

5/10, purely for Van Damme's hair

    Man of Steel 6.5/10

Decent film overall but my interest took a real dive during the 2nd half. Too much destructo wham bam action. Preferred the flash back and character building scenes

    Prisoners.

A great film, well acted and shot with a gripping plot. Its also relentlessly miserable. Feel a bit depressed now.

    Meh'n of Steel - 6/10

Elements of it are okay. Its just a shame that they weren't tied together to make a decent film.

There is no characterisation and Lois Lane is a very unlikeable character. Why was there no link between her and Lana? (It could have saved lois some time.) The bus thing made no sense because the other kids would have remembered.

Why the fuck does every modern superhero movie resort to the drawn......out.........battle.........scene. Transformers has a lot to answer for cos that's what I thought I was watching at one point; that and Battleship (which is a far better movie btw)

The flashbacks are like minigames that have absolutely no impact or effect on the main game/story.

It was also just a little too convenient how helpful one character was and I didn't like the way they rushed through key moments to get to the drawn.........out........ba......tt..........le...........scene.

The more I think about it the worse it gets.

    Fuck it. 4/10

Very true. I enjoyed it at the cinema, thought about it a bit, didn't like it as much, watched in on DVD, realised it pretty much sucks.

It may not be the best film ever but it's light years better than Battleship.

Battleship does not pretend to be anything more than it is and does what it does very well. (Apart from rhianna)

I'll quote my brother on Man of Steel:

"Finally saw Man of Steel last night. What the holy hell fucking pile of dog bollocks flying turd shit was that. Fuck you Snyder! That is 3 turdtastic adaptations of amazing source material. And this is a MASSIVE FUCK YOU!!!!! for what you are about to do to batman."

He really doesn't like Snyder. As no one should.

The only thing I did like was the physicality of Supes and the Kryptonians. The way they moved and fought was outstanding. Shame the film was shit.

Even though TDKR was trash, Batman Begins and TDK were good films.

I can't say that about any Snyder film and he's arguably had much better source material to work with.

    Gravity

Really not sure what to think about this one.

As a spectacle it was amazing to watch and some of the shots were incredible. But the characters and script were a bit dodgy to say the least.

I'd probably give the film 10/10 based purely on the visuals and tension but 6/10 for the slightly clichéd script. I just couldn't warm to bullock's character and how slow was she to do  anything!

Overall... I'll go in the middle: 8/10

I'll still probably buy it on blu ray though.

    How to train your dragon

This is better than a lot of Pixar films (Cars+sequels, Nemo, UP, Brave) / 10

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

The flashback part of it is the only bit that works.
The 'Nomad' scenes (ala Wolverine in XMEN 1) are very watchable. But then the rest of the movie comes along, and it's the same damn finale I've had to sit through with every Superhero film of the last 10 years (CG thing vs CG thing).
