    A Bridge Too Far

Epic WWII flick with an all-star cast. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Makes me want to play Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway again ;)

I didn't get it until I saw the film title :D

Edit - I'd say you need to know your Simpsons fairly well!

    Bystander:
"Hey, Fatty! I've got a movie for ya: A Fridge Too Far!"

    [the rapidly-assembling crowd laughs]

    Homer Simpson:

Whoops - just checked the season's on Wikipedia and you're right!

S10 only has one great episode in 'They Saved Lisa's Brain', imo.

S10 is the crisis series when the quality of the jokes just started to fail, most obvious in "Sunday Cruddy Sunday", which has the cheap shirt-neck pulling thing that I loathe in it. I liked a couple of them though, like "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace"" and particularly "D'oh-in in the Wind" /hippy

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

    City Of God

Been a long time since i seen this, forgotten How good it is. Superb coming of age//Gangland film. Not often you get a film that nails both. Still feels as fresh as it did when it came out.

    10/10

    Grosse Pointe Blank - 7/10

Black comedy with John Cusack as an assassin who goes back to his hometown for their high school reunion (and the love of his teenage life, Minnie Driver).

Very enjoyable, the cast is great. Don't think I've seen Driver in anything before, but I liked her in this. And you can't really go wrong with Dan Ackroyd, Jeremy Piven and Hank Azaria.

Only thing is the ending is a bit of a damp squib.

@Tom_Servo Didn't you just love the fact that back in the day an entire head could disappear inside a TV?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    Pacific Rim Blu-Ray 65%

I actually thought PR's action sequences for the first hour were poorly made - it was all very busy and noisy and whatnot but the camera was so poorly placed you couldn't make anything out.

I thought the Kaiju's designs were a little uninspiring which for me was a huge surprise. Ron Perlman's cameo was welcome but Idris was terrible, the scientists/geeks were over-acted and the script was lacklustre.

Easily Del Toro's weakest film so far.

Still, I do understand why certain people enjoyed it more then others.

*Edit: The actual quality of the Blu-Ray was underwhelming*

    House of the Dead (2003)

Didn't have high expectations for this monster when I started watching it, but oh my. The worst film I have ever seen by far. How this movie got the green light I will never know.

    You have an imagination barrier.

@Kew1Melon That was the very first Uwe Boll film I saw. Absolute trash. But there is one Uwe Boll movie I do recommend: Rampage.

Honest Trailers are usually pretty good but their Man of Steel one is pretty much perfect:

I watched Man of Steel about 3 weeks ago and I genuinely can't remember anything that happened in it. Something to do with a spaceship and robots.

Yay, my five disc the hobbit extended edition just arrived. Will have to review it later but I will give it a book mark score of 100. :)

Think it has 13 more minutes and 9 hours on bonus content.

    Mama - 5/10

I can't be arsed with this type of film any more. They're not, and never have been scary. It's almost like an extended episode of that kids supernatural series 'Goosebumps'. Not scary and not interesting. Why bother?

Jack Reacher - 6.5/10. Tom Cruise as the lead bothered me less than I thought it would. He was OK, but they made the character a bit too smug. Some of the fight scenes were pretty well done, but the big draw back for me was the complete lack of chemistry between him and Rosamund Pike. Made the whole plot seem almost pointless, as why would he bother.

Rise of the Guardians - 7/10. Passed me by entirely, but I quite enjoyed it. Obviously a kids film and doesn't have the same depth or appeal to adults that some animations do, but it still made me laugh a bit, and I loved a Russian father christmas. It's silly, but good fun.

    Cave of Forgotten Dreams

As with all werner Herzog, he has a lot of interesting things to say, and i love his work in general. Here he deals with the chauvert cave in france, where the earliest cave drawings were discovered, he takes us on a tour, and relates it back to storytelling and cinema, and usual in his wonderful delivery, back to the human condition. However, i felt pretty much most of the film was explored in its first half were i was constantly engaged, thereafter though, the documentary starts to mearander. Interesting, but not essential

    6.5/10
