@Shikasama - I totally agree. Alot of films do things that are so unrealistic, however I can forgive them and keep watching. But WWZ just takes the piss

The Men Who Stare At Goats

Crazy film and bonkers to boot, loved it.

    Gravity - 8/10

Looks amazing, the 3d is great, easily as good as avatars. The first hour is spectacular, but then it gets far too sentimental and stretches believability to breaking point. the wiring overall is pretty bad and dumb. Very entertaining though.

    Gravity 9/10

Really entertaining, a very simple story, but brilliantly shot and we'll acted. Enjoyed it a lot.

No twist, no Macguffin, no car chase, no rousing battle cry speech, and no zombies.

    Mama - 8/10

Decent Del Toro horror. While never quite managing 'scary' and showing far too much of mama at times it does maintain a high level of creepyness throughout.

Morning edit: Going to lose a point having thought about it a bit more. And add it straight back on for giving me some truly fucked up dreams.

Wow, I am surprised to see anyone giving that film a score like that! I thought the first 30 mins or so were decent but it went down the tube from there.

    Judge Dredd - 5/10

Not as entertaining as I thought it'd be, also not as good as the updated one with Karl Urban. Still some funny moments and Stallone does the character well. Gets an extra point for 'I AM THE LAW' and all the law related puns 'court adjourned' etc.

    World War Z 30/100

One of the worst films I've seen in recent memory. It's one of my favourite books of all time and I don't understand why they bothered buying the rights because this had absolutely nothing to do with it. The 30 is literally only because Brad Pitt does a decent job in it as you would expect.

The biggest problem (of which there are many) for me was the utter pointlessness of the 'tension' sections. As an audience member you know that Brad Pitt is absolutely safe in all of these situations and not in any real danger. The film offers absolutely no reason to give a shit about anyone else in it though so any suspense you might feel is always ebbing low. Once you've seen the first zombie zerg you've basically seen the rest of the film.

Not to mention the stupid ass 'twist' at the end.
Havn't seen the film, although I do know Brad Pitt was down the road in Sandwich sometime ago filming the interior shots. They used Pfizer's research and development facility, as the company shut down it's Sandwich operation after failing to discover anything new on the drug front. I know they discover Viagra.

    Thor 2 - 5/10

Definitely the weakest of the Marvel Studios films (haven't seen Hulk or Cap America). I knew going in that I would need to switch off my brain, but even then, it was just such a clumsy film. Bad dialogue, bad story, and as much as I enjoy her in other films, I could not stand Natalie Portman. Her character was even weaker and more damsel-in-distress than in the first film.

Thor himself was alright, and Loki had the best moments. I preferred the bits of the movie that didn't take place on Earth. Some of the visuals were nice and I enjoyed some of the humour (such as the brief return of a certain Avenger, Thor hanging his hammer on a coat rack, and Loki's 'Ta-dah!') but there was still a lot of hit-and-miss.

Anyway, I'm fairly disappointed. For the record, I enjoyed the first film, and found it to be quite a guilty pleasure.

    2 Guns:

Disjointed. Too many plot threads trapped in a film that can't decide whether it wants to be a gritty thriller, a straight action, or a buddy comedy. A film where there are literally no good guys, and every single person encountered will inevitably be corrupt and/or double-crossing, making it depressingly predictable.

It's really clunky and sentimental. The deus ex machima towards the end was a bit lazy, and again not very believable.

Bang on the money. Shite out of 10.

Just watched Oblivion with Tom Actor. I went into it expecting to hate it and came out the other end pleasantly surprised. Andrea Riseborough is very, very lovely and Tom Actor wasn't that annoying. He only did that stupid grin of his once at the end.

    8/10 (2 points for Andrea)

I kind of want to compare it to another film but A) I can't without ruining both and B) The more I think about it Oblivion isn't really fit to be mentioned in the same breath as this other film which is amazing in every way.

Oblivion is a poor, stupid man's version of it.

    Erm yeah.

    Shawshank Redemption - 93%

Anyone whos seen it will know its fantastic. Its not one of my favourite films ever, nor is it a film that I regard to be incredible, its very well made, top performances, great story. Its pretty much the top rated film on IMDB, but I believe theres better films out there that I found more enjoyable. If you've not seen it, watch it!

    Silver Linings Playbook 79%

Of course didn't live up to the hype, I mean how could it, was ok I suppose. I found myself distracted by my fishtank a couple of times during the crazy-talk conversations between Lawrence and Face. Didn't know Robert De Niro was in it though, which was a nice surprise. Jennifer Lawrence has some funny legs I'll tell you that, I think if she did jogging often she'd get some injuries for sure. My mum would like this film I think. Is that a good quote for the DVD case?

    Gravity 85/100.
Thought it was a 3d viewing but it wasn't. Still, a nail-biting ride that entertained and at 90 minutes didn't out stay its welcome.

I thought it was pretty good. Sagged a bit in places and Jodie Foster is distractingly weird but I thought it was cool enough.

I'm gonna go bury my head in the sand but what the hell. Elysium? 6/10. Soz. Nowhere near as humorous, suspenseful, dramatic, condensed and/or exciting clash of genres as District 9 was. Not bad, I just think, he could have done it better.

There were two shots -- both of them static -- that I absolutely fell in love with.

Elysium was mostly terrible because of how good District 9 was. It's like if Scorcese had followed up Taxi Driver with The Fast and Furious.
