    St George's Day

Pardon my French but what a load of shit.

Every London actor under the son in it including half of Lock Stock, and everything about it so predictable. It seems like the scriptwriter had insisted on every actor saying fuck 10 times more necessary in every scene and it just made it a joke. I do like gangster films but this was just shite.

Hearing Charles Dance swear like a trooper was quite funny though.

    4/10

    Let the Right One In

Having just read the book, I decided to give the film a try and see if it did the novel justice. While some of the more nasty scenes in the book have been left out of the film, that does have the bonus of making the fragile relationship between the two protagonists a more focal point of the story, which was always the best part of the novel. Also, great to see the setting captured so well. A very good coming of age film.

    8/10

    Bridesmaids - 8/10

4th time of watching. Can't explain exactly why, but it just hits the right spot for me - humour is exactly my thing for the large part.

A lot of men enjoyed Bridesmaids.

    It's okay to admit it.

    Man Of Steel - 3.5/10

Man Of Shit more like. Will explain more tomorrow. What a shame.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    @beastmaster

I posted in the Man of Steel thread the other day saying how I thought it was shit, I remember you posting back saying how you were still looking forward to it. It is isn't it! Been trying to explain to everyone at work ( i have a shit job in a cinema, the only perk is watching new releases a few days early) how bad it was and most of them disagreeing. Glad someone else agrees.

It's just a gross out comedy with women rather than men. It's very funny though, I like it a lot.

    Man of Steel - 80%
Even though it was just over 2 hrs, my main issue was that everything was a tad too rushed. Clark and Lois' relationship seemed to blossom extremely quickly out of nowhere, important deaths occur that lack the impact of the equivalent ones from the Reeve movies and important parts of Superman's origin are quickly glossed over. Simply put there's not enough time to cover everything effectively.
But, as a huge Superman fan, I couldn't help but love a lot of what was in the movie. The action sequences and effects were fantastic (Snyder really is one of the top guys when it comes to this), scenes on Krypton were given a fresh new look, there were some interesting bits of tinkering with the origins and Faora was an ass kicking lunatic. I didn't really see any weak link on the casting front either, they all did their parts very well.
Will need to watch it again, without all of the hype affecting my viewing.

One of my favourite comedies of all time. Hysterical and with something recognisable as a heart.

    J
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Biggest issue is that it had too much to cover; origin, relationship with Lois, and having enough time to set up for Zod.

Also, great soundtrack. Zimmer is the man.

    Blow - 6/7 out of 10

Biopic about George Jung who's fucked up missus landed him in jail until November 2014. (He didn't have any other career options)

Good film but it's a soft focus version of scarface as it glosses over his addiction and that of his wifes.

He created and set up the cocaine market in the states which is no small acheivement and I'm rooting for the guy. He will be 72 when he is released in November 2014.

99 problems and being ginger is one

    The new Superman - 1/10

Some guy mopes all the way though the film and yet he can fly?

    Not very realistic.

... hence the very low rating.

Zod doesn't need a backstory and Lois's and Superman's relationship doesn't come out of nowhere.

    Safety Not Guaranteed 7/10

Aubrey Plaza plays, well, Aubrey Plaza, as her and two other employees from a magazine trek out to see if a guy that place a classified ad for a time travelling companion is in fact a complete fruitcake. You can guess who ends up forming a closer relationship than expected with him...

It's not bad. The 'quirkiness' carries it. Only watched it because there's not much else on Netflix.

Err Sob does need a back story, which wasn't that issue anyways, the point was that it needed a set up. What was he meant to do, appear out of nowhere with no purpose and for them to just start fighting?

The Lois relationship was by far the most forced aspect of the movie. Would've been better if they saved the actual romantic side for the next movie and just have this movie as a set up for that.

It felt forced. Holding her hand when there was no romantic build up, kissing?
