    Alien Resurrection

I remember really disliking this the last time I watched it, but honestly, there's quite a lot that works. It's got good, likable characters, scary ass aliens, dumb ass company men. Even the human alien works to some extent. It's could give you nightmares just looking at it, and in the 15 or so minutes it's in the film it punches a Queen's face off, and squashes a guy's head with its bare hands. So they do a good job of demonstrating the things abilities and why you should be scared of it. All in all I like it better than Alien 3.

The whole problem with the film is Ripley. She's confusing and weird. They seemed to want her to be a sort of sexy, smutty action hero, and to do it they put in a load of scenes with her rolling around rubbing herself. There are a both good action sequences that at the end cut to Ripley smiling or wobbling her head like a nodding dog. Ruined a good film imo.

    7/10

    Ip Man 2 - 7/10

This time Yip takes on those pesky Westerners in the form of the British. Why are other people constantly bothering the Chinese anyway? Whatever. The action lacks the bone-crunching impact of Ip Man for some reason but it's still exciting enough. Wilson Yip doesn't wait around with a very basic setup and story but gets into the action within the first few minutes, which is fine with me.

Hurry up and make Ip Man 3.

There won't be an Ip Man 3, at least not with Donnie Yen. He said 2 would be his last, owing to the glut of films about the man.

Although I suppose he might do one if given enough moolah.

    Predictable and slightly boring.
Did it have a man on a ledge?

Is Iron Monkey any good? I need another Donnie Yen fix but noticed this is only rated 12. So, you know, er...is the violence top quality?

Iron Monkey is great. There's lots of violence in it, but it's not bloody or anything. People just get beat up a lot. The fighting is top-notch.

Hunger games. Good film although not as good as reviews suggest. It could have done with better casting for the "bad" contestants. The main actress is very pretty and I liked how they made her weak in some ways and not some perfect heroine. Enjoyed it more before the actual games started.

    7.

    It is. Very, very shit!

Looper - 7/10. The first 30-40 minutes I found very boring. But then the film got going and I enjoyed it a lot. A quite thought provoking film but not quite the masterpiece it claims to be on the DVD cover.

    Skyfall 5/10

    Pro's

    - Has classic animal pit/shark tank sequence
    - Javier Bardem's villain was promising

    Con's

    - Lacked any sense of urgency
    - Javier Bardem's character should have been let loose more
    - Ridiculous and distracting product placement. Cars, drinks, phones even bloody heavy Caterpillar equipment! Too many shots in this movie were just there to show a logo or product.
    - Stylistically the lighting was hit & miss. Macao & Shanghai worked but in the final church scene everbody looked like they were burnt to crisp on a beach in Marbella for 2 weeks. Too much orange & teal overall.

Finally, the "it's a different world out there and you're antiquated" theme I found very tiresome.

Not a review as such, thought I watch the Fast and Furious box set. Then realised they killed a character off in the 3rd film and bring him back for number 4,5 and probably 6. So changing round the timeline of the sequels, which are now prequels unless he is dead in the 6th film which would then be a sequel. seems like a case of lets just ignore the fact the 3rd one actually happened

Is the 3rd one Tokyo Drift? Big fan of the movies but think I skipped that one just going by how bad it looked and was reviewed.

The third takes place after the others, 1 2 4 5 3. I like 3, 4 was probably the worst for me.

Never actually watch the 3rd one all the way through before. So was first time I watched it in connection to the others.

The 2nd film did have some unintentional comical acting from Walker :)

Going to rewatch X-Men First Class tonight - call it an urge, brought about by some of the updates for the next X Men film.

I also realised that I haven't bothered to ever watch X-Men Origins : Wolverine.

Anyone seen it and recommends it? Is it as terrible as Die Hard's latest apparent travesty?

Not a fan of these films at all, but there's an awesome spoiler floating around the net for 6 and 7,which will explain all of this. It's a potentially MASSIVE plot point though, so be very careful.

    Anyway, Argo - 10/10

Ben Affleck really is becoming a huge talent after The Town and this. He obviously loves classic 70s movies too. Argo really captures the tense, claustrophobic feel of classic stuff like The Conversation and All The President's Men, whilst having a playful swipe at Hollywood and turning in a superb performance. The supporting cast also put in amazing work.

    Brilliant.

The perks of being a wallflower

Really enjoyed this!  Had some great performances from a talented young cast and had a great soundtrack too.  Emma Watson was great and looked amazing. I think I've got even more of a crush now!

    9/10

    21 Jump Street 7/10

Enjoyable buddy cop/highschool movie with Some funny jokes.

Good if you want something light to watch, Dave Franco is also great as the drug dealer.

I enjoyed jump street. The stages of drug effects are hilarious.

X Men First Class is at most, half a good film. The second half is so bad it ruins it.

I just hope the new Wolverine film this year is going to be better than the old Wolverine not from this year.

    The Last Boy Scout 9/10

Vastly underrated action flick. A winning combo of Willis, Black, Scott and Silver is a win. One of Willis's finest along with Die Hard and The Fifth Element.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I know for a FACT that TOOTR won't like Wolverine. Beastmaster is spot on, the new reboot has a greater chance of success.
