Watched it all the way through this time. After the rubbish first 30 minutes which are incredibly dull, the aliens arrive and it improves. Little plot to speak of and what is there doesn't make much sense but its a lot of cheesy fun and looks fantastic.

Terri - 6/10
Couple of indie low-fi comedy/dramas following slackers of similar ilk. Jeff's obsession with the movie Signs has a few more poignant moments and magic, whereas Terri just meanders along at a lethargic pace, where the presence of John C. Reilly doesn't even manage to improve matters much.
Watchable, enough to kill the afternoon. You can read this ? You've helped ruin the place.

A space cowboy film apparently a spin-off from the series Firefly (never watched it). Thoroughly enjoyable and at only £2 from HMV an absolute bargain. 8.5/10
I could watch stuff like this all day.gif)

Watch Firefly then. It's better.

It's space cowboys and it worked - that's a once in a lifetime kind of thing. -

Thats if your in on the joke and also see it as an extension of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Its also the third film (with the Raid and Dredd) that has an hour and a half running time and was all the better for it. No fat on these stories! -

I've gone from thinking this was a really powerful movie with an interesting take on racial issues to still really enjoying it but feeling as though the last 15 minutes let it down tremendously.
I did watch the first half of the film at around 05:30 am this morning, very tired, before work after my wife got up to go 'ooop North' for work and put on a different coloured boot on each foot, meaning I had to get up and drive halfway to her so she could turn up with the correct coloured footwear and still make it in time...so that may have had an impact on my judgement of the first half of the film.
Think it needs a second watch, without the footwear excitement.
Thus far...7/10. -

Enjoyed this a lot until the last 20 minutes. It wasn;t needed at all. They could have just ended the movie where it should have ended with a couple of extra sentences on the end to do what the last 20 minutes achieved.
Aside from that, liked it. Some great stuff in there, especially the KKK scene.

I loved this film. Olivia coleman i thought was brillant, probably one of the best performances i seen in a long time.
Tyrannosaur
A bloody hard watch, with little in the way of hope or optimism. But that's hardly the point.
It achieves what it set out to achieve with sheer brilliance, carried by the strength of the leading performances. There is literally nothing to fault with this film (assuming you're aware it's not the next Jurassic Park). Staggeringly excellent.

Registered 10 years agoShe was rightfully praised, but Paddy Considine for his first Film as a director and Peter Mullan, who plays a nasty piece of work but can still evoke pathos, are my stars.

Registered 11 years agoYeah, it's thanks to this thread I rented Tyrannosaur, and thanks to that I bought the DVD. I find it slightly disappointing that Coleman is now doing dross like Hyde Park on Hudson off the back of performances like this (though to be fair, it's probably more Peep Show that got her on the radar). I can't for a moment think she doesn't deserve some success though, just means she isn't automatic reason to go and see a film like Considine (directing) or Mullan currently are.Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Fucking funny with some great performances. Walken is on top self-aware form, Sam Rockwell is on fucking fire and Tom Waits makes me want to give him a hug, (while having a loaded pistol in hand).
I don't think it's on a par with In Bruges, which to my mind is the best black comedy made since Grosse Point Blank, but I do feel there's more to discover from repeated viewings. I do know there' some great quoting to come out of that endeavour. -

Why did my school careers advisor tell me about this line of work?
Also, Sean Young is my all time favourite 80's/90's babe. He started my love affair with fringes/bangs.

The building is too big and the enemies too improbably few.
