    Dredd - 9/10

One of my favourite films of the year. Dredd is a machine in this and banishes the memories of the piss poor stallone version. Ye it has a similar story to the raid but i found this to be way more entertaining. Suppose i prefer Dredd shooting stuff up to a little chinese guy doin karate. Ill be getting the blueray and watching this again for sure.

Hopefully we get a sequel with Judge Death

Death was lined up for Dredd 3 (no doubt Dr3Dd)
With the second being a prequel about young Joseph becoming a Judge.

Might help its chances if you bought it rather than pirating it.

I've not recalled seeing her in anything else I've watched.

Monster was probably her biggest hit, won an Oscar for it. But she's done quite a lot, and even without seeing her in much, I just thought she was one of these actresses that was well known. And then there's Arrested Development of course...

The Astronautís Wife (1999) between 4/10 and 6/10

Spotted this in Cex. Iíd never heard of it either. Johnny Depp stars so I figured it canít be all bad, although Charlize Theron (Iíve never heard of her either) is a little wooden at times. The biggest cop out has to be the fact that Depp (the Astronautís wife) returns to earth almost immediately, meaning zero budget was required to show any scenes set in Space. For the most part the film wants to belike most typical American movies, highly polished, bordering on dull. The Astronautís Wife doesnít manage the polish, although it is dull. To be fair, 1hr and 6mins into the film, it manages to become slightly interesting. For the most part the film is about one notch above a made for TV film, it has those kind of qualities.
Who the hell is Johnny Depp??

    Halloween: Resurrection (2002): 5/10

They killed Laurie Strode! Features a Kung-Fu fighting Busta Rhymes taking on Michael Myers. Amazing.

I remember a bit of a fuss being made back home when Ms Theron starred in 2 days in the valley - that was kinda her first Hollywood "big budget" film.

@sport Wasn't it Devil's Advocate that brought her to 'prominence' in Hollywood?

I remember being disappointed with a lack of boobage in 2 Days..

I'd say so yes, but valley had quite a list of prominent actors and I think it got her noticed in Hollywood itself. Anyway, how someone cannot know who she is now is beyond me ;-)

Bombed terribly though. Great film, but unless it can gain a cult following through its DVD/Blu-Ray sales, I don't think we'll be seeing another entry into the Dredd series for a while :/

I saw Argo on Monday and Life of Pi yesterday, 8/10 and 10/10 respectively; I felt the climax was very contrived in Argo but the film was great on action, humour and tension; Ang Lee's new film was superb in every way, there's not one film in his canon that I don't like, and I thought it was a perfect representation of the book.

I watched a documentary about her life the other day, followed by Young Adult, and whilst a below average film she puts in a pretty good performance. Very underrated actress imo and probably because she's so damn hot.
