Given the whole point of the Batman in these films is that he's a symbol, he does spend more and more time getting into slow and boring punchups rather than terrorising criminals into not being criminals.

Also holidaying in Hong Kong, which is a shit idea done badly.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? We're talking about an adult male wearing a batsuit that's fighting a clown (among other things) and you're sitting here nitpicking about trivial inconsistencies when the whole basic idea is utterly ridiculous to begin with.

People are bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling.

That's because Nolan wants us to suspend disbelief and has deliberately set it in a realistic setting (the last two films at least).

He spends the time between begins and DK terrorising them. That's made clear.

It would be boring watching him pop up from behind bins for 3 hours.

The fight in daytime was showing that Batman was recognised as being the hero, that he could emerge from the shadows and into the light if you will.

    Thematically it was clever.

    Cinematically it was awful.

    Awful is the wrong word.

The fight in daytime was showing that the chief complaints from previous films were that they were so dark you couldn't actually tell what was happening half the time.

Which was supposed to be the point, but morons will be morons.

It wouldn't have been half as bad if the fights were actually good and the extras didn't look exactly like extras playing fake war games.

I saw Kermode on the telly saying just the same thing about TDKR, because a news guy thought it odd that 'Batman' was dancing.

Was quite enjoying it as a subdued but brutal hitman flick, then it goes all Wickerman out of nowhere and completely lost me.

    WTF?!/10
    ..or just TOTAL-SHIT!/10

This film divides many. It's either 1/10 or 10/10
I'm bitter as I paid the full wack for the Blu-ray thinking I was in for a treat. Instead all I was left with was disappointment. I couldn't wait to get shot of the disc, and Cex offered little, but little was better than nothing.

    Seven Psychopaths Fuck knows/100

Great cast, some great dialogue and well acted. A film within a film, clever, funny - it almost has it all. Except it never really got going. It teetered on the edge of rollicking awesomeness then went dull again. Its not as good as In Bruges. It seems to know its own limits and rather than break them, it conforms.
Very hard to review. Enjoyable enough with a meh ganache

One of the worst things about the Nolan films was replacing Katie "face like an angel" Holmes with Maggie "face like a plasticine accident" Gyllenhaal.

Yes, lets rate all films based on our on taste in sexual partner.

Katie "hard nipples" Holmes was so bland. Maggie did a better job but let's face it, neither character was needed.

    Get bent.

It was nice that they tried to give Bruce a love interest who wasn't a psychopath.

Catwoman was by far and away the best thing in TDKR.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

My only gripe with the last Batman film was that the brilliant police strategy to take back City Hall consisted of everybody running single file in a hail of bullets and tanks.

Yeah, Captain America would have organised them better.

Whereas I hated Catwoman and her constant ability to be one step ahead.

Alfred was the best thing about TDKR, and because they didn't know how to have him in the story they wrote him out :(

    I agree.

And I thought Gyllenhaal was worse than Holmes in every respect, which is odd as she's a cut above as an actor. It think it was because she was trying to do a Holmes impression and it just all came off wrong. Plus she's far less fit, so all in all a bad replacement.

Personally I thought JGL was the best thing in TDKR, although the Looper prosthetics seem to have frozen his face into 'it's cold outside and THAT'S A METAPHOR'.

Catwoman was OK, albeit a bit poinless other than as fanservice.

Pretty much pointless in terms of the plot and totally jarring with the whole gritty real thing, but she was charismatic and had screen presence. She was the closest thing to Ledger in terms of being enjoyable to watch.

You can probably thank the producers for the Maggie/Katie headswap. They almost certainly saw her as box office poison and decided to get rid.

Holmes turned the sequel down or Tom did it for her. I know the pair made a circus at the premier. Sure I read the studio and Nolan wanted her back anyway. She wasnt bad either. Maybe find a link later.
