    Orphan 6.5/10

Funny, with a few creepy scenes.
When the adorable little deaf girl becomes an accomplice in the horrific hammer murder of a nun, I just about pissed myself laughing. The denouement is underwhelming.

    Insidious - 3/10

There's a glimmer of promise early on, but it's quickly shat on.

    Underworld Awakening

The first Underworld is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. This one is just shit.

Dull and predictable, though mercifully short. It completely fizzles out to nothing at the end but strongly hints at yet another sequel. I guess there's only so long that Kate Beckinsale can continue to squeeze into that latex outfit, so they need to churn them out sharpish.

    Dark Shadows - 7/10

Wasnt expecting too much from this one so it was pleasantly decent. Tailed off towards the end with a lack of focus, much preferred the first hour or so, some genuinely funny moments with Depp doing the "omg, what is this shiny thing of the future" schtick.
Looks very good on bluray too.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt deals with a cancer diagnosis.
Enjoyed this. It's filled with uncomfortable little moments that ring painfully true.
A bit too much Hollywood bullshit in there for a whole hearted recommendation (if the first thing you think when the kooky shrink is introduced isn't "he'll end up with her", your not paying attention) but those small moments of truth both awkward and touching and the performances in general (including Seth Rogan) are enough to make this worth a watch.

Pokémon 3 The Movie - Spell Of The Unknown

First of all, I am not a crazy big Pokémon fan lol, just happen to be enjoying Pokémon a lot at this moment, I'm 18 by the way.
Also I apologize in advance for my loooooooooooooong post.

This one started off with a mini movie-which the title I didn't care enough to remember, of just Pokémon, Ash and friends only in the beginning and end, it was alright, could've been better if they didn't force in the power in numbers or friendship whatever thing at the end, it took up one fifth of the whole movie, so whatever that mini movie was called. 5/10

Well, it starts with a father and daughter looking at a book of Legendary Pokémon, the Unknowns & Entei, then her dad who is a professor goes somewhere like Unknown cave kind of thing, picks up a puzzle like piece and the Unknown take him to their world or something for no particular reason, the guy with him his assistant or whatever has a metal gear moment "Professor? Professor?? PROFESSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRR", then he takes the findings back to where he lived and tells his daughter the sad news-taking the box of Unknown puzzle like pieces with him, some time passes after shes told about what happened and later on she cries while spelling "papa and mama" in the Unknown pieces and somehow that triggers the Unknown to come from where ever to her house-they then freeze/crystallize her house/mansion and the whole town, they joked at the start that her papa was like Entei and somehow she summoned Entei which she believes is her papa, and Entei has the exact same voice as her papa but with an echo effect but doesn't know what shes talking about. Ash & friends just happen to be heading towards the town shortly after the incident.
PLOT TWIST (not really)-Professor Oak & Ashs mom(-does she have a name?) know that guy and his daughter-they see what happened on the news and head there.
Molly (The daughter) seeing Ash & his mom live on her laptop or something she kind of wishes something along those lines to Entie/Papa that she wants "Mama" which leads to Entie hypnotizing and kidnapping Ashs mom.
They play and stuff, Ash decides he can't wait any longer and goes to get his mom, while watching live tv on her laptop she sees Ash making his was to the house, so does Ashs mom. Once she sees its Ash she snaps back into reality but keeps calm so she can stay with Molly and assure her safety.
First Molly battles Brock, then Misty, Team Rocket break the fourth wall like they did in last movie, then Entei battles Ash, they battle some more, a bit more, more, and more, then Entei appears to try and attempt to kill Ashs Charizard-really, he presses down on Charizards neck hard charging up a big attack right in his face then Molly stops Entei. Due to alllllllllll the fighting.
They kind of laugh it off, "haha you tried to kill me and my Charizard but whatever, its cool."
Its slowly kind of revealed throughout that the Unknown have dug deep into Mollys imagination and make everything she wants real, including her Papa-like-Entei. As everything is going on the Unknown gather so much psychic energy it becomes overwhelming to even them.
WHY ASH WHY, why is your first plan to "stop" something is to charge right into it? Its never worked, once in a while it has but 9/10 times it does NOTHIN'.
So they stop the Unknown with Molly believing in Entei that he could, and he does, Entei disappears, her father reappears from where he disappeared for whatever reason-not explained why he vanished or came back in the first place, then for no reason then for the sake of a happy ending during the credits her mother returns from where ever she came from.

The animation was the same stuff, but better-if that makes sense, they showed more stuff than they did in the last one, no awesome epic songs here, just pop music. The story was more interesting than the last one but it felt slow and long, more explained but it kind of dragged on.

    7.5/10

@BinaryBob101 lol, fair enough then. Thats probably the last Pokémon movie I'll watch in awhile anyway, around that time of the movies release is when I fell out of the loop as we only have 35 channels on TV here and they took out the kids shows channels, ytv, nick, etc.

lol, nah, just nothing to do. Like literally nothing to do here, no work, no hang out, rains 24/7 now that summers over, no legitimate school after high school here, nothing. I live in a small town in the middle of no-where.
I have 0 friends-I have friends but they have better friends than me, I'm like last resort type of friend. The only way I can get friends is by becoming an alcoholic and/or pothead like all the other idiots here which I won't lower myself down to.
I just have to much time on my hands is all.

Let me take a wild guess, you consider other people in your age bracket who go out on weekends drinking, and you know, socialising, are alcoholics?

    Moonrise Kingdom

I'm my own worst enemy. I was almost certain I wasn't going to like this, but I watched it anyway.

I was irritated after 30 seconds, infuriated after an hour and felt like killing someone (Wes Anderson probably) at the end.

If you like the thought of a twee love story between a loner scout and a young quirky girl with an odd face, then this is the film for you.

Personally I was insulted that someone thought this would pass as entertainment. It was like spending an hour and a half in the company of a group of people sharing a joke that you don't get.

    John Carter - 8/10

I really didn't mind this at all. I think I may be able to enjoy bad stuff as long as its sci-fi. Pity it was slated, I would have enjoyed more. I might have to try the comics now.

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

"Piss funny"? I thought this was just the usual snide, joyless nit-picking that passes for satire on the internet, especially of anything that makes the damning mistake of being popular.

Was Avengers perfect? No. Was it fun and much better than it had any right to be? Absolutely.

@Blakester Protip: don't see any of Wes Anderson's other movies. They're quite like Moonrise Kingdom.

I liked it, though. Nobody has a style quite like Wes Anderson, even if he does repeat himself a bit.

    The Woods

I'm quite a fan of Lucky McKee's work but sadly this was a so so witch story set in the 60's accompanied by quite beautiful visuals and fairly good acting. Patricia Clarkson, while old, looks very pretty here.

    Looper - ?/10

I'm stillu mulling this one over. Initial reaction is disappointment simply because it's not as good as Brick, but then, not much is.

I felt it wasn't sci fi enough. It got a bit dull when the story moved out of the city. Half the time it felt like high end Phillip K Dick, then at other times it really dropped the ball. The inconsistency with time paradoxes is hard to ignore, especially when they're crucial to the plot.

In summary: I think you definitely should see it, but don't get your hopes too high. I probably need to see it again before I score it.

Joaquin Phoenix getting up to mischief on a US army base in West Germany. Great little black comedy with some good characters and a great soundtrack. Recommended!

I'd mark Looper up for not being like Brick.

But it's beside the point, as Brick is neo-noir, not scifi. Trying to compare the two is a bit pointless imo.

Pretty good, but not great. Nicely directed and lit with some good performances, but the script needed some work.

    @faux_carnation

Agreed. Not quite sure what to think. It was well-directed and there's an original story, but the movie just kind of falls apart in the second half, and I'm just left wanting more.

The focus shifted too much towards the kid, and Bruce Willis ends up with less screen time. Considering the diner scene with young Joe and old Joe was one of the best scenes in the film, I was really hoping we'd have more interaction between the two.

    Overall, I'd give it a 6 or a 7.

IMO, seems like District 9 is still the film to beat for modern sci-fi classic.
