    3000 Miles to Graceland - 5/10
Heard a lot about this and finally got round to watching it.
Starts off really well but descends into a bland, predictable action film.
Lots of cameos, Costner and Russell are pretty good and Courtney Cox has never looked better.
    Just a bit meh...

    Prometheus

Really really compelling. And a prequel that is actually worth it. It adds stuff to the original universe (although not enough) that is interesting and the exploration of the skeleton dudes was awesome. miles better than certain other prequels - ahem terminator salvation and phantom menance.

I loved the first half of it, the opening sequence is spellbinding. The last bit is a bit clunky, and i'm worried that it had to tread familar terrority just to finish the film, but overall it was a fresh, and compelling story.

Can i say 4/5 instead of somehthing out of 10? just a bit easier for me to rate! Just that last 5th was a bit off hand with the rest of the film. Also it really reminded of the shatner star trek films, not sure if it was the score or the philosphical debate...

going to venture into the abyss that is the thread.....

Just seen Knowing since it turned out to buy a triple pack with it, District 9 and Moon was cheaper than just buying the two alone, but I have to say I rather enjoyed it. The plot made perfect (if twisted) sense, the over the top CGI was suitably over the top, Cave shouted and wailed appropriately and about half way through it turned out it was based on one of my favourite old-time stories. 85%

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

As an appropriate film as you could review on here - Indie Game, The Movie.

Wasn't on my radar until a mate bunged it my way. I enjoyed watching it but it solidified my notion that indie devs are a bunch of cunts. Jonathan Blow - pretentious cunt (to the point where i'm tempted to delete Braid from my PS3!), Team Meat's Tommy - angry cunt, Phil Fish - arrogant cunt. The only person i came away from the film with a good impression was Ed McMillian.

So i guess it was 75% cunt then.

Girl, you thought he was a man, but he was a muffin.

    The Wicker Tree

Almost certainly the worst film I have ever seen.

    0/100.

    Julia's Eyes

Really effective spanish language thriller/horror produced but not directed by Guillermo del Toro. Plenty of jumps and scares that led to extensive bruising of my arm from my wife(normally the mark of a good horror in our house). Just let down in parts by some weaknesses in the story and being a bit long.

    8/10

Back when Eddie Murphy was good.
Didn't realise he was only 20 when he did the film.

Enjoyed it. Genuinely hated Fasbender by the end and found myself mildly aroused by aggressive Theron.

    Brave - 6/10

Somehow, even Cars' setting showed more imagination than this: a weird dystopian world where automobiles have overthrown humans as rulers of the world in a massive genocidal revolution. (Presumably.) The rest was formulaic shite, but hey.
In Brave's case, both the setting and execution are paint-by-numbers. Despite the stunning visuals, I felt like I was watching a straight-to-DVD Disney film.

    Arrietty - 8/10

    That's better.
Didn't care for the soundtrack's singing bits though.

    The Yellow Sea - 7.5/10

"The story of a cab driver in Yanji City, a region between North Korea, China and Russia." The driver is a compulsive gambler with a mountain of debt. He is offered a deal to smuggle himself into Korea in order to assassinate someone. If he succeeds, his debt is paid.
He uses this as an opportunity to find his wife, who has disappeared.

Lots (LOTS) of violence.* The fight scenes, while gritty, veer from believable to ridiculous (in a good way). Often, it's a rather special mix of the two. Some of the chase scenes require you to imagine the protagonists as the offspring of a genetic experiment involving Usain Bolt, horses, and the creation of an Asian Master Race that can sprint an entire marathon.

*One part in particular reminded me of Oldboy.
With hatchets instead of a hammer.

    Moonrise Kingdom 80%

Absolutely great film. Its like a school production of the fugitive meets Romeo and Juliet.
Very strange seeing Bruce Willis in an Anderson film as well.

    The Raid 85%

I don't think I've ever seen anyone punch that quick. Full of stand out moments and amazing camera work. Each floor ups the ante and the action and the final fight scene is amazing.

    Following: 8/10

Very clever, tightly plotted debut from Christopher Nolan. Would love to see this remade with a budget so it could be enjoyed with crisper visuals.

THE MAN FROM EARTH - 6/10 - single room drama where a college professor convinces his colleagues that he's actually a Paleolithic human who's survived for 14k years. A bit trite in places but still an intriguing enough little watch.

    Severance 9/10

One of my fave brit horror films ever. It manages to bring in a nice bit of black comedy as well without being too over the top. I know a lot of people on here hate Danny Dyer (with good reason) but he is actually quite good in this.

I think ive pissed myself. Have I pissed myself

    Sucker Punch

I know it was slated by many people but wanted to check it out for myself.

    Some really good setpiece execution.

But couldn't save it due to woeful acting, mindless story and a please boil my ears like cabbages soundtrack.

Hope Snyder does a lot better with Supes...

    50/100

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

    Friends with Kids- 40%
All the actors I wanted to see were barely in it. Adam Scott was ok, but in an ideal world he'd play his Step Brothers character in every role he gets:)
Jon Hamm's woman needs to stay on the other side of the camera, she has a strangely infuriating face, and just didn't seem to click with the rest of the cast.
Other than that it was watchable I s'pose, although strangely laugh free (considering the actors involved), and unbelievably predictable.
In other words, your standard chick flick.

Direction is awesome, but, hmm. I need to watch again. The little one was refusing to go bed which meant I missed a chunk, and for the first 45 minutes I couldn't totally hear the dialogue. Now watching Die Hard in E4.......

    Iron Sky - 10%

There's a good premise here but its ruined by a plot that jumps all over the place and political satire that's so in your face its not funny just childish. Horrendously bad and not the film I was expecting.

    The space Zeppelins look cool.

Fun. The Asgard bits had an 80's sci-fi vibe to them which was kinda cool.

yeah, brilliant film. It does have an amazing atmosphere to it. I made the mistake of watching the sequel last year. Fuck me it was gash.

    Expendables - 4/10

I was hoping for a classic '80s vibe but was disappointed. Bruce Willis and Schwarzenegger are awful and pointless. Rourke looks awesome.

We are the night - 8/10

Someone on here recommended this and thank you very much! Excellent cinema. I got a version with subtitles without dubbing and that's clearly the way to go. Although, and that's a bit harsh so I'll spoiler it for the easily offended, as I was looking at the perfect Aryan features of the police boy, I couldn't help imagining him in an SS uniform ordering his underlings to gas all those people over there. The girl is very pretty.

    You're welcome :)

She started off with a Dragon Tattoo look and when she transformed in the bath scene, I was like "Heeellloo!!"

Humanity's End - The End Is Near

This has the dubious pleasure of being the second worst film I have ever seen. It has no redeeming features, the story is awful, the acting terrible, the CGI makes the battle scenes in Phantom Menace look state of the art. The direction is very strange and the music pretty poor as well.

I'm giving it a point just for having the audacity of releasing this. Sucker Punch is pure entertainment in comparison.

    1/10
